his trust wavered once
Violet’s P.O.V. (Continued)

“I know, Nadia. I will be more cautious, but she crossed the line. She cursed my child.” I complained like a child to her, making her smile.
“This is the right reason to get angry. Still, you can’t hurt your health and your child for those insignificant mouths.” She replied teasingly. I tried to smile too, but I was still unsettled.
“Get yourself calmed down first.” She instructed me while going towards the medical shelf. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath.
I continued rubbing my stomach gently. Nadia was right. I shouldn’t give my ears to those insignificant mouths. What did they know?
Of course, I am not the first woman in the world who is pregnant, but every pregnancy is important.
I was still trying to believe that Ms. Stanley remarked on something that nasty when she is also a woman.
“Are you okay now?” I slowly opened my eyes when I heard Victoria asking me in a worried tone.
I smiled and slowly flipped on my left side, facing her.
“I am much better now. I just need a quick nap, and then I will be good to work.” I replied to her with a faint smile.
“You are not doing anything today. Just rest.” She instructed sternly, but I shook my head.
“I need something to distract my mind, Victoria, and work is the best way.” I put my point in front of her in a calm tone.
I closed my eyes, not in ignorance, but because I really needed a short nap. I had to work not only on my physical state, but also on mental stability.
“I got a call from Mr. Sands this morning. He wants to know if you are available to discuss a new project with him.” Victoria told me in a casual tone.
I slowly opened my eyes and looked at her in confusion.
“I know, Violet. We aren’t from the same industry as him, but I found that he started a small company a few months ago….. ummm….. you can say that before you come back here which deals in designs.” She explained and my confusion deepened.
“Why now?” I asked her and she narrowed her eyes in confusion.
“I mean, I remember Sara, once, asked him to start a company in designing, making her the main model when she had just started her career, but he refused. The Sand family has a long history in pharmaceutical and industrial chemicals. So, venturing in designing now…. Something didn’t add up.” I explained to her and a knowing smile appeared on her lips.
“What?” I asked her annoyingly, not understanding the reason of that smile.
“I always felt that Michael has a soft corner in his heart for you. He went all his way to help you back then. He kept shielding you and hid your presence so that Dominic and Sara couldn’t find you. He even arranged everything to treat Natasha back then. Why?” she asked while counting what Michael did for me.
I rolled my eyes and moved onto my back again.
“Don’t be paranoid like Dominic, Victoria. Michael has known me for a very long time. I …. Okay. I can’t say that he sees me like a sister, but we can be counted as friends, nothing more than that. I have already respected him as Sara’s elder, nothing more than that.” I clarified my stance in this situation in a calm and firm voice.
“It’s good that you have a clear stance on your relationship with him, Violet, but it doesn’t mean that he also sees you as his sister’s friend only, someone younger than him. You can know your heart, but not the person in front of you. What if he has had unrequited love for you all these years?” Her question took me off guard, though.
My heart skipped a beat, but I shrugged off this thought the very next second it occurred in my mind.
“No person in this world can control feelings of other people, Victoria. I know my feelings and that’s it. You know your feelings, and that’s it. Whether he loves me or not, that’s not my concern to think about.” I replied to her firmly and closed my eyes.
“You are right. What matters the most is our feelings and our thinking. If we start showing concern about other people’s feelings, our life will be a chaos, but we can’t let their feelings hurt us or our loved ones, right?” she asked me.
I sighed and slowly opened my eyes again. I looked in her direction with a blank gaze.
She took a deep breath and slowly leaned towards me. She was still sitting in the same spot on the bed.
“I am not saying that Michael can hurt you or your family because I don’t know him much, but if he really has strong feelings for you, he…. He.” She paused but I got the implication.
“Let’s not talk about him, Victoria. I already had a fight with Dominic when he said the same thing that you are saying right now.” I pleaded in a tired tone.
She chuckled while shaking her head lightly.
“Okay. No more talk about men. Let’s focus on your recovery and our business. What matters the most is money. Money never betrays you.” She teased and I just smiled, nodding in agreement.
“One more thing.” I added while closing my eyes again.
“What?” she asked curiously.
“Find out everything that you can about Amber Hawthorne. The arrogance of her assistant originated from Amber. I want to know why she is having a sudden interest in our business. She approached both me and Dominic at the same time. She knows exactly what she wants to do.” I instructed her while explaining my doubt about Amber Hawthorne.
Call it a woman's instinct, but I had an unsettling feeling in my heart about the whole situation related to Amber.
“Okay, Mrs. Whitemore. Now shut up and have a good nap. Let my nephew have a good rest for a while.” She nagged while patting my thigh lightly.
I sighed and tried to get some sleep, but my mind was still restless.
It’s not that I don’t trust Dominic. The thing is that his trust in me wavered due to Sara’s scheming to the extent that he threw me out of his life like trash.
I gave him the second chance, not because I still love him that much, but because I want to give Natasha a complete and loving family.
She is still young and yet I could see her craving for her father’s love. So, I gave in when Dominic pleaded for the second chance.
What if Amber also has some feelings for Dominic and she also does something like Sara did back then? Dominic’s trust in me wavered once; it can waver again.
I opened my eyes when my phone started ringing. Victoria was now sitting on the couch. She raised her hand to stop me from sitting up.
She stood up and came back to bed and picked up my phone from the bedside.
“It’s Dominic.” She told me.
