Chapter 73

Selene’s POV.

I laughed and shook my head at him. We sat down and had dinner together, the twins made a mess, of course, but Nathaniel ended up doing the clean-up. We did have a maid now, but we wouldn’t leave this mess until the next morning.

Pretty soon, there was a knock on the door. Nathaniel and I walked to the front door with the twins in our arms, and of course, it was Kai and Anya.

“Hey, my babies,” Anya gushed, and West immediately reached out to her, leaving Nathaniel alone.

“Oh my sweet boys,” Kai kissed West’s cheek, then grabbed Chase from me and cuddled his son. God, it was cute to see these two as parents. They deserved everything in this life.

“We’re here too, but feel free to just ignore us,” Nathaniel said sarcastically, and I refrained from laughing loudly.

“Oh Romie, guess what we got you,” Kai walked past us and straight to our son.

“Aunt Anya, Uncle Kai,” Roman cheered as he ran to them and hugged them.

Nathaniel and I stared at each other in disbelief.

“Look buddy,” Anya revealed a puzzle from Italy, one Roman would love to pieces– literally.

“I love it! Thank you,” Roman said happily. He hugged them, but his eyes were focused on the picture on the box.

“You’re welcome buddy,” Kai chuckled.

“We missed you; you’re coming over tomorrow, right?” Anya asked, and I was about to step in and say it wasn’t necessary, but then Roman jumped at the offer and was oh so excited about it.

Finally, Kai and Anya ended up acknowledging Nathaniel and me. They told us all about their days off, but in the end, they truly missed their babies, and they missed spending time with Roman. Despite them having their own kids, they never once forgot how much Roman meant to them.

Our night ended pretty soon after they left. Nathaniel told me he’d take me out to dinner the next day since Roman would be with the others.

My Saturday went as it usually does, only Nathaniel seduced me into staying in bed a little longer. Once it was time for our date, Nate told me to wear something a bit fancier, so I assumed we’d be going to some high-end place.

I curled my hair nicely and added a studded clip into my hair that matched the latest diamond set Nate got me. This one was a bit more dainty and less flashy but still had touches of elegance.

I donned a green emerald dress that shimmered; the straps were thin and crossed down the middle of my back. The jewelry had plates of green between the diamonds, which made it all the more perfect. I did my make-up then went downstairs to find Nathaniel.

“Fuck, Selene, you look stunning,” Nathaniel said breathlessly, his eyes drinking me in.

“You don’t look too bad yourself, Nate,” I smirked and walked closer to him.

Nathaniel leaned down and placed a kiss on my lips. “You know, we could just stay in,” I said sweetly, tracing a finger down his chest. I gave him a sultry look, and I could tell he was fighting with himself right now.

“I would love to jump on that offer, but I have the perfect date planned for you, my love,” Nathaniel gently took my hand in his and began to lead the way.

Nathaniel was right. He did have the perfect date planned, including dinner at one of the top places in town. It was so hard to get a table, but of course, Nathaniel got one right away. Dinner was absolutely immaculate and was followed by ice cream at our favorite spot and a walk on the beach.

I noticed small lights illuminating the area, and as we walked further and further, the lights became brighter, and soon enough, there was a huge heart-shaped arrangement of roses in the sand, with small lantern lights at the front, and I could already tell this was for Nathaniel and me.

We got to the middle, and before I could even say anything, Nathaniel got down on one knee in front of me.

I blinked, stunned, as Nathaniel knelt before me, a small box in his hand. My heart raced, and I could feel my cheeks flush with warmth.

"I've loved you from the moment I met you. I was an idiot at first, but I will forever thank the stars and you for giving me a second chance," he began, his voice trembling slightly with emotion. "You're the light of my life, and I can't imagine my days without you by my side. You made all my dreams come true."

He paused, opening the box to reveal a stunning ring, the diamond sparkling in the soft light. "This ring belonged to my grandmother," he explained, "It's been passed down through generations, and now, I want you to have it."

This explains the sudden trip from his parents. They must’ve done that to deliver the ring to him.

Tears welled up in my eyes as I admired the intricate design and the radiance of the diamond. "Yes, Nathaniel," I managed to whisper, tears slipping down with a smile on my face. "Yes, a thousand times yes!" I said excitedly.

Nathaniel’s face lit up as he slipped the ring onto my finger. He got up and kissed me passionately, my fingers wove through his hair as I held onto him. My future. He claimed I’ve made him happy and made all his dreams come true, but little did he know he did the exact same thing for me.

As we crossed the entrance into our home, the air seemed to hum with an electric charge of excitement; it was quite clear that we both had been looking forward to this. I craved marriage. I knew it was silly considering we already lived together and had a son together, but I still hoped to call him ‘my husband’ one day, and he finally sealed the deal.

As we entered the house, I spotted the soft glow of candlelight dancing across the room, casting flickering shadows on the walls. The room was warm and created an air of intimacy. I then realized just how much effort he had put into this engagement. The arrangement for dinner, the beach, and now our house? I’m pretty sure he asked Anya and Kai to take care of Roman for the night.

Nathaniel's eyes met mine, dark with desire, as he closed the door behind us. The heat of his gaze sent shivers down my spine. I knew that look. He always looked at me with desire clouding his eyes, but this look was something else. This look meant that I would be taken to heaven and back, my skin would bear his love marks, and his name would be chanted in the room.

Without a word, he closed the distance between us, his hands finding the small of my back, pulling me close until our bodies were flush against each other. The warmth of his touch was directly on my bare back thanks to the thin straps and low back of the dress. He traced circles on my skin and made me yearn for more.

I tilted my head back, offering my lips to his in silent invitation, and he accepted eagerly, capturing my mouth in a searing kiss that left me breathless and wanting more. His lips moved against mine with a hunger that matched my own.

His hands roamed over my body, leaving trails of fire in their wake as they explored every curve that made my heart race. I melted into his touch, losing myself in the sensation of his hands on my skin, his breath on my neck, his body pressed against mine.

I moaned out his name as I tipped my head back for him, loving every moment of his perfect mouth on my skin.

With a low growl, Nathaniel lifted me effortlessly into his arms, carrying me towards the bedroom as fast as he could, and I couldn’t help but giggle. He truly acted like a caveman sometimes.

As he laid me down gently on the bed, the hunger in his eyes burned brighter than ever. My eyes trailed down his body as I watched him undress himself, exposing his sculpted chest to me bit by bit.

I inhaled deeply as he removed his last piece of clothing. He was a stunning man, gifted and sculpted by the gods themselves, and he was well aware. He wore a proud smirk and leaned over, grabbing my ankles to pull me closer to him.

Our night was filled with passion, one we’d never forget. We found peace, passion, and love within each other, and that love burned brighter than anything else. Our night of ecstasy was everything we could’ve hoped for. Nathaniel took great care of me afterward, and we both went to sleep, holding onto each other.

The next morning came around sooner than I thought. I groaned when I felt the warmth of the sun spreading across the room. I sighed and turned around, burying my face in Nathaniel’s chest. I thought he’d be on my side, be my safe haven. He always tried to drag me down for five more minutes, he always tried to make us sleep in and go to work later. I always declined, and the one time I needed him to say ‘Let’s sleep in’ he didn't.

Nathaniel gently stroked my back, his large hand on my bare back and his lips pressing soft kisses to my forehead. I braced myself for the inevitable; I knew this man well enough to know what he was up to, and I wouldn’t like it.

“Selene, sweetheart, we have to get up,” Nathaniel murmured.

“Nathaniel, five more minutes,” I groaned and closed my eyes instantly.

“I’m sorry, baby, but I booked our Sunday for fun already,” Nathaniel began to sit up, dragging me with him.
