Chapter 52 Could I Refuse You?

Chapter 52 Could I Refuse You?
If Ethan follows his business style, he'll act completely arbitrarily. What if... the employees have formed a long-term opinion of him?
"Should I tell the reasons to you when I deal with my subordinates?" He asked coldly.
"No, but he didn't choose the dress; he was responsible for its delivery. It's not his fault," Lilly countered.
"Why? Are you upset about the bonus deduction?" He pressed hard on the steering wheel, his voice like a storm.
Lilly involuntarily clenched her neck and told the truth: "What's hurting me? I went looking for you." He was a good man and was willing to let me in. You scolded me for that, and I always felt indebted to him."
Hearing her words, Ethan recalled that incident. Hadn't she charmed him with her saccharine caresses the first time they met?
Ethan suddenly smiled coldly. Was she pleading?
"If I tell you there's no room for maneuver regarding his bonus deduction, what will you do?" He asked.
"What can I do? I can't eat you." He was simply trying to force her to admit she couldn't do anything to him, right?
Lilly said with displeasure, "You're the CEO, and you're the most important person. Besides, my relationship with him is serious, but you really should think twice before acting. Don't shift the blame onto him. That way, you won't be able to convince others."
At that moment, Ethan understood what Lilly meant and heard the concern for him in her words. His tone softened slightly, and he slowly replied, "Couldn't this be blamed on him?"
"Yes." Lilly saw that he seemed willing to listen to her opinion and was about to continue the conversation, but suddenly she saw Ethan half-turn and extend his hand toward her...
Lilly clenched her neck warily. Was he planning to beat her?
Ethan, seeing her frightened look, smiled to himself, but his face remained cold. He continued to reach up and fastened her seatbelt. Then he leaned back in his seat, pressed the gas pedal, and drove out of the building.
"He is the last person in charge. He's in charge of the most important checkpoint and bears overall responsibility, but he sent this to you without checking it. That's his dereliction of duty." After a while, Ethan said something indifferent.
It seems true...
"I understand," Lilly replied obediently.
"Now, you'd better explain why you were dressed like that just now." Ethan immediately assumed an embarrassed expression, and a chill seemed to run through his body.
Lilly rubbed her frozen hands and said discontentedly, "Please tell me you asked someone to send this to me earlier!"
"Were you supposed to wear it if it was given to you?" Ethan asked coldly. Completely ignoring her words was a big problem.
"Hey, you really are unreasonable. You sent me a dress, didn't you want me to wear it tonight? How could I refuse you!"
As soon as these words escaped her lips, Ethan's cold eyes seemed to be coated with a thin layer of warmth. Ethan turned his head slightly to look at her and said in a low, seductive voice, "Can't refuse me? You mean... You can't refuse me anything?"
As soon as the man finished speaking, the carriage seemed to be instantly shrouded in a hazy ambiguity.
"Stop! Don't pick on words," Lilly's cheeks were hot, and she quickly lowered her head and saw the skirt on her body, humming, "Anyway, I'm dressed like this now, too ordinary, and you can't blame me!"
Ethan's eyes swept across her skirt, then moved away and looked forward. His slender fingers gently stroked the steering wheel, his lips slightly lifted, and he slowly uttered a sentence, "Who said ordinary?"
"Eh?" Lilly was stunned and opened her eyes wide, "What did you say?"
Is he praising her beauty?
Did the sun rise from the west today?
"Mr. Romano...you don't have a fever, right?" Lilly felt that he was probably stimulated by something again.
His face suddenly darkened, "Are you going back on your word with me?"
"Ah? Where did I go back on my word?" Lilly asked in confusion.
"So, have you forgotten how to address me?" Ethan reminded coldly.
Lilly reacted instantly, and without thinking, she called out sweetly, "Ethan."
Ethan nodded and continued, "We will arrive at the destination in half an hour. Before that, you should practice a few more times to avoid making a mistake when you are there."
This is a roundabout way of saying that she is careless and doesn't believe her.
Lilly chuckled twice and called her. She has been calling her name for four years. She will only call her more, not less.
"Ethan, Ethan, Ethan, Ethan,..." As if she were serious with him, she almost called his name in the past half hour.
Lilly originally wanted to yell until he felt annoyed, but he actually looked quite enjoying it. Not only did he not think she was noisy, but his knuckles also seemed to be particularly happy to tap the steering wheel.
Seeing how happy he was, she stopped yelling instantly, and her throat was almost dry from yelling.
"Tired of yelling?" He asked considerately.
She nodded and saw him take out a bottle of water from the armrest box and hand it to her. She was so moved that she took it, unscrewed the lid, and gulped down several mouthfuls.
He still reached out to take the water bottle considerately, put it back in the armrest box, and asked calmly, "Have you finished?"
She touched her belly through her skirt and felt that it was filled with a lot of water, "Yeah, I've finished."
"Is your throat wet?" He asked again.
She moved her throat, and it seemed to be less dry.
Ethan, who suddenly showed such concern for her, had already dazzled her. Lilly looked at his firm profile in a daze and replied obediently, "It's done."
"Then continue." His calm words completely shattered her beautiful fantasy.
"You, you, you..." she gritted her teeth in anger, and did not see a trace of a comfortable smile in his dark eyes.
She just felt that he was deliberately teasing her, and she refused to do as he wished, so she bit her lip and stopped calling his name in a huff.
"Why don't you call my name?" His cold voice was like a magic sound, crashing into her ears, banging nonstop.
"I think it's Mr. White who needs to practice," she laughed in anger, and fought back, "I can't just call you by your name, right? If you keep calling me 'Miss Johnson', you'll be exposed. If you want to be thorough in your acting, you should also call me by my name, so that the acting will be more real!"
