Chapter 10 Take Off Your Dress
"Karl, I'm going to sleep. I'm so sleepy." Lilly rubbed her eyes, and then she walked into the guest room in a daze, holding the Minions pillow on the sofa in the living room.
"Okay, lie down first, I'll get the cooled milk, you drink it before you go to sleep." Carl went to the kitchen and took out a glass of milk, then followed into the room.
After giving her the milk, he turned off the lights in the room, patted her pillow, so that she could be more comfortable when she climbed onto the bed, and then went to sit on the small sofa on the side.
"Karl, aren't you going to sleep?" Lilly asked, trying to open her eyes that were about to close.
"I'll see you fall asleep before I go." Karl shook his head. When he carried her out of the car just now, he saw that she was sleeping restlessly, as if she was having a nightmare.
Although he gave her milk, he was a doctor and still wanted to stay with her to see if the situation improved before he could rest assured.
"Oh, okay, Grandma Karl, thank you for your hard work." Lilly stuck out her tongue mischievously. She and Karl have grown up together since childhood. Karl was like her own brother. Since they met again after separation, Karl seemed to be particularly nervous about her emotions for some reason and always took special care of her.
Lilly was a girl and would vaguely feel something about such care, but Karl did not show any further performance, so she could not express it. What's more, she had already exhausted all her strength just to love Ethan.
Thinking of Ethan, her nose was sore, and she felt very unwilling. She had been so shameless for him for four years and had never even held hands with him! The pursuit of the girl was a complete failure, and in the end, she ended up being hated...
"You stupid, stupid, why are you so hard-hearted?" Lilly complained angrily, "Even if you don't like me, I don't have to..." Before she finished complaining, the phone on the bedside table beeped, indicating that there was a new message.
It came from a strange number, with only one sentence - "I changed my mind." What the hell is this? Who changed his mind? Warrior, at least sign your name! Lilly sat up and stared at this inexplicable text message, with a lot of question marks in her mind.
"Honey? What's wrong?" Carl heard the noise and opened his eyes.
"Nothing." Lilly muttered, "Strange, what does it mean? Is it a prank?"
Outside the villa, Ethan rubbed the screen of the phone with his fingertips, and his eyes were cast again to the room on the second floor of the villa where the lights had been turned off. He watched with his own eyes as the two walked into the same room, turned off the lights, and the blond man never came out again.
After waiting for a while, the silence of the late night seemed to mock his stupidity.
He rubbed the screen of his mobile phone more and more frequently, his eyes full of impatience, until the elongated time turned into a panic that completely occupied his heart. He pounded the steering wheel fiercely, and with his other hand, he pressed the button and dialed the number.
In the villa, Lilly just threw the phone back on the bedside table and was about to fall asleep. As a result, a series of mobile phone ringtones were heard, accompanied by vibrations, grinding the wooden bedside table to buzz.
Lilly climbed up again, grabbed the phone, and saw that the number displayed on it was the one that sent the strange text message just now. She hesitated for a moment and finally pressed the answer button.
After the call was connected, she didn't speak, waiting to see what the other party would do, but she couldn't hear anyone talking for a long time. It was very quiet on the other end of the microphone, and only slow breathing could be heard.
Lilly soon became impatient and said directly, "Hello? Who is this? Speak, or I'll hang up."
As soon as she finished speaking, a low and cold voice came from the other end of the phone, but it was very familiar to her-
"If I don't see you in Wanying within 20 minutes, you won't have a second chance."
He stepped on the accelerator almost the next second after hanging up the phone and left Villa directly, and the light in Lilly's room was on when his car drove away. There were only 20 minutes, and it would take half an hour to get from here to Wanying even if there was no traffic jam!
Lilly briefly explained to Karl and didn't even have time to change into pajamas. She grabbed her phone and rushed out of the room, running downstairs while urging Karl to go out.
Karl was flustered by her, and it was not until the car was halfway there that he realized that she was only wearing a silk suspender nightgown.
Lilly was afraid of the heat, and she tried to wear as little as possible in summer, but it was obvious that she could only wear it at home. If she put it on the street, it would be a problem.
Karl had no choice but to turn around now. He had to drive the car to Wanying Building, take out a spare white coat from the trunk, and put it on her.
"Thank you, Karl!" Lilly was so moved that she burst into tears. She hugged him, turned around, and ran into the Wanying Building.
Perhaps Ethan had said hello in advance. When she came in, the security guard did not stop her but politely invited her into the elevator. Lilly thanked the security guard. After entering the elevator, she pulled the white coat that Karl put on her. It felt good.
Karl was tall, and his white coat looked like a floor-length skirt on Lilly. She was afraid of getting her clothes dirty, so she carefully carried them and walked out of the elevator to the president's office, which she had been to during the day.
The door was not closed. She took a step inside and saw him standing by the floor-to-ceiling window. She was in a trance for a moment, as if she saw him in college. At that time, his back was as tall and straight as it is now, but now it seems to be more indifferent than before.
