SEPTEMBER'S POV
" I remember everything, Zach." I said.
I watched his face intently. I never knew that I could ever be this talented to read the expressions one can hold through their eyes because right now, I can easily understood the pain his eyes were hiding behind them
Pain? Sometimes I feel too naïve to describe this emotion. But from whatever I know, I can say that there might be something to which I am completely oblivious. I had this gut feeling that Zach doesn't want me to remember any of my past. Be it any reason but I am very sure after today that something chaotic had happened to me, to us. To say that I don't want to know the truth would be a complete lie because I do, I do want to know that what had happened before I lost my memory?
But here, watching him this devastated, I wish I will never have my memory back. I want to remain like this, forever. Since the day, I woke up in hospital, I found Zach being always closer to me. He took care of me, he made me smile, he made my heart alive, he made me love myself and I guess however the situation maybe, he will always be there for me.
Possibilities are enormous. My past will always remain a sweet mystery for me but I want nothing more than Zach. Possibly we used to be very close but then something happened and we broke up, or he might have cheated on me or it could be anything. My past could be anything but the Zach whom I know, I believe that he would've never hurt me. His eyes were wet for me, how come the person like him hurt me be it in my past or anytime?
I sighed.
Fuck me. This past thing is so messed up.
Now come on, September make him smile again. This is your turn to crease away the frown from his face and replace it with content.
"I remember you, Zach. For me, it was when I woke up on the hospital bed and from there my memories rooted you in my existence. I remember you as my husband and that's all I want to remember." I added, after a deep minute of silence which felt like eternity.
"I...I...Oh." He mumbled and if I am not wrong then I definitely saw him inhaling a deep breath of relief.
Okay. You were totally right September, he doesn't want you to remember about your past.
Jesus! I scared the shit out of him, aren't I?
"So?" He whispered, slightly bending his head low to hide his tears.
I liked my lips and took baby steps to him. I took the flowers from him and looked at them before plastering a small smile.
Zach, you've no idea, do you? I've started liking you long before I realized that I actually do. You make my heart happy. What else I can ask for?
I flushed at my thought and sat on the floor. I wiped his tears and attached my forehead to his. The sound of our harsh breathing echoed in the surrounding. Meanwhile, cool breeze touched my face and everything turned beautiful.
Zach's face held nothing but vulnerability. I am unable to figure out everything. This strange feeling in my heart is killing me. It's like there was something stronger between us, something strange which couldn't be described in words. Some connection or something way stronger than that. I have a strong pull towards me. I want him to feel the serenity.
"I would love to be your girlfriend, Zach." I smiled.
My cheeks heated up and tons of butterflies erupted in my stomach. Girlfriend? Wow.
He said nothing. It was as if he was still in shock and was unable to react in anyway. So I did something to pull him back to his senses. I placed a soft, lingering kiss on his cheeks. The taste of his salty tears touched my lips and at that moment, I let my soul free.
The emotions I had trapped inside my heart, I let them go.
"Let's live." I said instead of confessing him that how much I like him.
I hope someday I will be brave enough to express my feelings for him. Someday.
He looked at me and nodded, absentmindedly.
I clicked my tongue and gestured him to smile. He exhaled and forced himself to place a smile on his face but failed miserably.
"September, can I ask you something?" He looked at me and waited for my reply.
Instead of uttering a word, I simply nodded my head.
He held my hand and came forward to kiss my temple. My breath hitched up due to his close proximity.
God! September, control. This is not the right time to go all jellies over him.
"Promise me that one day when you really remember everything then you won't stop yourself from doing what's right."
I gave him puzzled look but he cared no less to elaborate.
I thought to ask him that what is that right thing? But kept my voice shut.
Biting the corner of my lips, I shrugged my shoulders. "I promise that I will do whatever you say."
He forced a smile and hummed. I raised my eyebrows at him asking that what he meant with that hum sound. He shook his head and then I saw a little sign of relief passing through his face.
Why are you so complicated, Zach?
"Why are you so beautiful, my princess?" He asked making me realize that I said that out loud.
I flushed. My Princess?
"So, now we are girlfriend-boyfriend?" He teased, watching my already flushed face.
Oh god. Stop it Zach.
"You know what? I've an idea." I tried to shift the topic.
He laughed and gestured me to continue.
I asked him to follow me and we both went to terrace. Under the open sky full of stars, I asked him to sit next to me. He was confused but didn't say anything just followed whatever I said.
"Let's talk." I said.
"Okay." He smiled
And we both knew that this was going to be a very long night.
****
"Zach, tell me something sweet?" I asked.
He cracked a laugh and creased the skin of my thumb. His touch was soft and soothing.
"You know, my mum used to say that one day I will get my Angel. And now I know that she talked exactly about you."
Awe.
"You know, if you talk this sweet then one day I will definitely end up having diabetes." I stuck my tongue out which made him smile more brightly.
"I am not coating a lie. For me, you're a blessing. Like an angel sent up from the heaven. I wish I could tell you how much my heart craves for you." He added further.
I blushed all shades of red and looked at him. You're perfect, Zach.
I smiled and in reflex decided to kiss his cheeks but I don't know how my lips slipped and landed over the corner of his lips. Everything froze. To my periphery, I found him getting tensed. I held my breath and closed my eyes.
I want to kiss him, don't I?
I stayed still for few seconds before I parted my eyes open. My throat was running dry and at that moment, being this close to him, I wanted nothing more than the taste of his lips lingering over mine.
I don't know if it was lust or whatever but I wanted to kiss him. And so, I did. I encircled my arms around his neck and brushed my lips against him. Time stopped and fireworks exploded inside my belly. "Kiss me." I murmured softly as I knew very well that he won't touch me without my permission let alone kiss me.
He closed his eyes and moved his lips in rhythm with mine. It was gentle at first but soon a strong kind of passion ignited between us. I ran my fingers through his hairs and he grabbed me by my waist.
As his tongue touched my lips, my body shivered in delight. I moaned and without thinking twice I parted my lips. He shoved his tongue inside my mouth and boom. My body sat on fire, my sensation started craving for more. It was heavenly. The feeling was intoxicating. Our tongues collided and that was the moment when I realized that why people always name lust as a sinful pleasure.
I like him, I do but this feeling is different from anything which I've felt before. What's happening to me? Why this all feels so satisfying? Am I losing my sanity?
Fuck everything.
I kissed him back with equal passion and I don't know how, I started unbuttoning his shirt but before this all could go to a step further, he stopped.
"Let's not rush into anything." He exclaimed.
His words were like a bucket full of cold water splashing over my consciousness. I tried to catch my breath and bend my head low in embarrassment. He will now hate me, right? How could I be this stupid? Why was I not able to control me?
"Hey. Hey. Hey....September. Don't cry baby." He panicked.
I blinked my tears away and tried to go away from him but he held my hand and made me sit on his lap. He dipped his face in the crook of my neck and inhaled a deep breath. "It's okay. What you felt was pretty normal. You don't have to be ashamed about anything. Okay?"
I didn't say a thing and cursed myself for doing such a stupid act.
"I am sorry. I..I just want to take things slow with you, okay? It had took me long to learn that connection of two souls before body is way stronger. I just want to build a connection with you which will remain with me even if someday you despise me, okay? I want memories with you, baby." He spoke with so much genuineness in his voice that I couldn't stop myself from smiling.
"I will never despise you, Zach." I couldn't.
Every time you give me one more reason to believe that you're everything one could ever wish for. Zach, you seriously are something else.
He placed a soft yet lingering kiss on my forehead making my heart skip it's beat.
"I have a good news."
"Tell me. What are you waiting for?" I smiled.
He cleared his throat and automatically his eyes were lighten up in excitement. "I have decided to open my own restaurant."
"Wow. That's perfect." I exclaimed happily.
He shrugged his shoulders and once again placed a soft kiss on my forehead.
"You know September, I have this beautiful dream now."
"And what is that?"
"I could see myself as a chef, preparing dishes in my own restaurant where you would come once in awhile and taste everything that I will make and smile. And then someday Claire come with all her friends on her birthday and I will cook for all her friends and then she will proudly say that the man who made all these is my father."
I pictured his dream in my mind and it all felt so real. I want to like that future, Zach.
I want it with you.
