Chapter 69
Hayat woke up from her sleep and was greeted by Murat's sleeping face. Hayat smiled and tucked her hands under her head, gazing at him lovingly. Every day were blissful after their mini honeymoon. She never thought that she can feel that happy in her life.
She was still tired from their nightly 'workout' not that she ever complained. She loved to watch him sleeping and vice versa. They always were in a competition of who gets up first and watch the other sleeping. Needless to say that day Hayat beat him and woke up first.
She started to caressing his eyebrows and jaw when she felt a hand was crawling on her waist. She laughed and tried to move away but Murat was fast, He dragged her to him and drove his head into her neck.
"Good Morning." He wished her showering her neck with kisses.
"Morning. Now get up and get ready."
"I am in different mood right now."
"You were in that mood almost all night. Now get off."
"Nah, I am liking this more." He said and sucked a place on her neck.
"We both need to go to work and I am sore so, next time player boy."
"Ah, I was having a good day." Hayat laughed hearing his grumpy voice.
Before they could get off from the bed, Hayat's phone started ringing. Hayat saw it was Arsal calling her and she received it.
Murat saw her receiving the phone and her whole jolly mood turned into a solemn one. She was just replying with 'Hmm, ok, yes.' So, Murat was getting worried about his sister and Thia.
Hayat took a deep breath as she put the phone away from her ear. "What's wrong? Is everything okay there?" Murat asked in a worried voice.
"It is but I don't know for how long."
"What do you mean?"
"I need to call Nandini first. She needs to know." Hayat said with a sniff.
Nandini was sleeping in Manik's arms. Though her hand was fine, no need for a bandage, Manik refused to let her move out. He said he couldn't sleep without her in his arms so she couldn't move.
Manik kept his promise. He didn't make any advances towards her except for the kisses. He freed her from working for him. After the party her business started to bloom more widely. It was too much for her to manage both places so Manik freed her with a condition of a dessert every day.
She woke up because of the ringing phone. She frowned and tried to remember whose ring tone was that. Soon her brain clicked that it was her sister's.
She searched for her phone blindly and received the call after finally finding it.
"Hey, di."
"You are sleeping."
"Yeah.. A bit. Those medicines always knocked me off. Thank God last night was the last dosage."
"Good. I need to tell you something."
Her tone instantly woke up Nandu from her slumber. "What's wrong? Are you crying? What the hell happened?"
Manik stirred beside her and looked at her confusingly.
"Di, stop crying. Tell me what happened. Did Murat sir-"
"No he didn't it's not about him."
"Then what?"
"Actually Nandini, Grandpa finally made the decision."
"Made the decision? What decision?" Nandini asked as her mind was numb unable to tolerate mystery early in the morning.
"He is finally ready to let Grandma go." Nandini was silent after this. She didn't expect the news at all. After all these years, keeping her in life support, He was letting her go.
"He is?"
"Yeah. Arsal told us to go there asap. Tomorrow morning is her funeral and he will let her go early in the morning. She needs to bury immediately."
"Means she is dying tomorrow when she is already dead for others. What an irony!" Nandini also started to sniff.
"Who is dying?" Manik whispered.
"Nandini, pack your bags. We are going there -"
Murat snatched her phone and said, "Nandini, we are going there in our private jet. Please inform that idiot, we are leaving."
Nandini cut the call and started crying. Manik became very worried and hugged her. "What's going on?"
"Tomorrow is grandma's funeral. We need to go there. I actually thought grandma might wake up but it's been too long."
"Sshhh.. Don’t cry. I know you all hoped but it's been too long. Even doctors told him to let her go years ago. But he is too stubborn. Your grandma has been dangling between life and after life for so long. Think it's like ending her misery. No one deserves this. "
" I know but it's so hard. I don't know how grandpa decided it."
"He is Jafar Uzun. He might realize that it's time."
"Di and Murat sir said to pack. We are leaving in your jet."
"Then let's pack. It will be evening when we will reach there."
Exactly 8 hours later they finally reached to Jafar's residence in New York. All the way here the girls kept sniffing and the boys were there consoling them.
"Where is Grandpa?" Hayat asked.
"Grandpa is sitting beside grandma since morning after he declared to let her go. Myra and I organized everything for tomorrow's funeral." Arsal said and led them to the room.
Jafar was standing that time, looking at their grandma intensely. Hayat and Nandini stood at his both side. Jafar understood their presence and wordlessly kept his both hands on their shoulders and pulled them in a side hug.
Hayat and Nandini tried their best to not cry. Cynthia Uzun was looking more pale from the last time if it's even possible. Jafar's eyes were red, indicating that he was crying before they came.
After standing there for few minutes, they made him sit down and left the room. Nandini wiped her tears, "He is going to sit there all night."
"Yes. He won't be able to see her after letting her go."
Even little Thia understood that something big was happening and she refused to part from her mommy even when her uncles were there.
Whole house was silent, dreadfully silent. Every one retired to their room after few morsels of food. Jafar refused to eat and others couldn't eat anything in that state.
Hayat and Nandini was tucked in Murat and Manik's arm in their respective rooms. Even they were silent. Murat and Manik didn't say anything to them, giving them some space to cope but reassuring them hugging them tight.
No one couldn't sleep dreading the morning where they have to say their last goodbye to grandma.
In the morning everyone got ready in black and went to say good bye to senior Cynthia Uzun. Jafar left the room to get ready and giving others privacy to say good bye.
First couple was Arsal and Myra. Little Thia was looking with her sleepy eyes. Arsal amd Myra told her that not to worry they would take care of everyone specially grandpa. Thia kissed on her forehead and they left the room.
Next was Hayat and Murat. Hayat started crying again, "I am sorry, I couldn't spend much time with you. I missed you so much and you are leaving today. I will try to take care of everyone specially Nandini. You don't need to worry about anything."
"Grandma, I promise you to take care of Hayat. I will be there with her always like a husband and friend. We will miss you." Murat said and side hugged Hayat.
They both left the room and it was time for Manik and Nandini. Nandini started crying after holding her hands, "I am sorry, I don't remember the time we spent together. I so wished that you would wake up and I would get to know you. I am not ready to let you go."
Manik hugged her and she kept crying. "Grandma, I know I had hurt her before but I promise you I will never hurt her or make her sad. I will be always there for her. I wish you could be there in our special occasion."
They left the room and the doctor, nurse and Jafar Uzun entered in that room. It was time. After few seconds the doctors came out saying Jafar wanted to do it alone.
The girls were crying and it increased when Jafar came out of the room.
Few people were called for the funeral, the ones eho knew Cynthia Uzun. After the whole process, she was buried in their family graveyard.
After she was inside her tomb, Jafar looked at the Malhotra boys. Both of them frozed by the look at his eyes. But Jafar didn't said anything and walked away.
"Did you see that?" Manik asked his brother.
"He is grieving. I don't think-"
"He is the great Jafar Uzun. He is grieving and he is planning something as well. The last time he planned something and we lost the girls. He made us villains by some accusations that we never meant to do."
"Let's go inside and see what this cunning man is planning."
The guests were leaving after talking with Jafar, telling him to stay strong. After the last guest left, Jafar turned to look at the boys again,
"We need to talk."
