Chapter 249 The Outcome of Pregnancy

Chapter 249 The Outcome of Pregnancy

Juniper and Lester were each stuffed into a separate cargo box.

One had their mouth gagged because William found them too noisy.

The other clenched their hands into tight fists, staring at the water in terror.

She felt grateful — thank goodness she had not angered William.

Thank goodness she had not tried to escape.

Otherwise, the one thrown into the water would have been her.

She convinced herself that pleasing William to avoid punishment was a workable strategy.

Water rushed against every pore of her body. Isla, submerged in the water, had only been dunked for a dozen seconds.

In that instant, the foul-smelling river water poured down her throat.

She could only clench her mouth shut and hold on.

But that suffocating feeling of nearly drowning made her so tense her lungs felt ready to burst.

Mud and sand from the riverbed got into her eyes.

The foreign matter in her eyes felt like living insects crawling across her eyeballs.

Isla instinctively wanted to reach up and rub them, to squeeze out the sand.

But soon she forgot about the sand in her eyes, left only with the confusion before death.

She had so many things left undone; she was not willing to die like this.

She wanted to live, wanted to say to Isabella: I was wrong, I am sorry.

Only by surviving would William let her near Isabella.

Isla held on. She could feel everything growing darker before her eyes.

Her body grew heavier, the pressure in her lungs pushing her dreams further and further away.

Her consciousness was about to merge into darkness, to sleep forever.

She really could not hold on anymore and instinctively breathed in through her nose.

River water immediately rushed into her nasal cavity, seeming to drill into her brain.

It choked her into coughing over and over, and when she coughed, river water flowed through her open mouth down her throat.

Isla remembered those homeless people had been living by the water, and who knew what was mixed into this river water.

Finally, just before she passed out, someone tugged on the rope around her leg.

She was saved.

When she felt air on her face again, that joy of rebirth made her forget all her troubles.

She breathed in the fresh air, even forgetting about the stench in it.

When someone untied her ropes, she finally remembered her regret from before dying.

She looked at William and stubbornly asked,

"I survived. You promised that if I survived, you would let me talk to Isabella."

William looked at her, a smile appearing on his face.

"Even if you survived, I will not let you two be alone together."

He turned and got in the car. Behind him, he could hear Isla being pushed and tied up as she was loaded back into the cargo box.

"William, you liar."

"You do not keep your word."

In another compartment, Lester laughed happily.

He had predicted this outcome all along.

Because he used to be that kind of person.

But what surprised him was that William had also become that kind of person.

William was becoming more and more like his past self,

even more despicable and crazy than he used to be.

Lester no longer needed to reclaim wealth and status.

He had already seen William's ending — one day, he too would lose everything.

William sat in the passenger seat, eyes closed, trying to steady himself.

Time passed too slowly. He was not sure how many more new days he would have to endure before Juniper got pregnant.

He turned to look at Dylan. "Go find out for me if there is any way to guarantee someone gets pregnant, preferably something that can speed up her pregnancy."

When the car returned to the villa, Lester was still locked in the abandoned factory.

No matter what he became, William would never trust him again.

Naturally, he would not let him live in the Spencers' villa.

He had to ensure Isabella's absolute safety.

Isla and Juniper were thrown into dog cages.

Juniper leaned against the iron bars, but her eyes were checking on Isla.

As Isabella's cousin, Juniper had gained much of Isla's attention through her status as a goddaughter.

Deep down, she had always believed Isla was that kind of ignorant, foolish woman.

But today, that fearless spirit Isla had shown made her see her in a new light.

So Isla also had moments when she was not afraid of death.

But those messy things about Isla, her past, did not seem to tell that story at all.

A question arose in her mind — could it be that Isla was sure William would not let her die, so she dared to be so bold?

Was she, behind that boldness, trying to win William's sympathy?

After all, she was still Isabella's mother.

Maybe William would actually soften and let her go.

Juniper shook her head. How could such poor acting possibly fool William?

When it came to deception, she was a natural expert.

Except for not being able to fool Isabella, even the high and mighty William had been played by her.

If she had not underestimated how much William cared about Isabella, if she had not realized that all her actions were under William's surveillance,

she would still have had a chance to escape.

Juniper looked away. If she had not been exposed so quickly, would she really have been willing to leave?

Before William turned on her, even after he humiliated her, she had still held a trace of fantasy about William in her heart.

She had forgotten when that ridiculous fantasy had shattered.

Juniper only knew that now and in the future, she would become William's toy.

The thought of pregnancy flashed through her mind. Juniper touched her belly.

Even if she did get pregnant, would William really let her give birth to the child?

And Isla — would she get pregnant too?

Juniper was not stupid.

Now that she had a chance to calm down, she was really reviewing what had happened, thinking about the future she could not see.

She remembered Isabella had destroyed William's child, but that child had been sent away by William himself.

Thinking of this, Juniper's lips curved up.

No matter who it was, no one had wanted that child to be born.

Whether it was William or herself.

No wonder she had been attracted to William, because they were the same kind of people.

It was kindred spirits, a meeting of minds.

Juniper touched her belly, and her anxious heart settled down again.

She understood — William would not let that child come into the world.

He wanted her to lose the child in her belly just like Isabella had.

Because William wanted her to walk the same path as Isabella.

Every footprint Isabella had left in the sea of fire was the life path Juniper would have to experience for the rest of her life.

Someone as obsessive as William would not miss this point.

Juniper's smile grew brighter.

Thank goodness, thank goodness she did not have to give birth to those homeless men's children.

Such inferior bottom-feeders of society had no right to have children.

Their existence would only pollute this world and dirty her body.

Juniper figured it out, and her body relaxed again.

She lay down on the carpet, waiting for tomorrow to come.

Only William upstairs could not fall asleep.

He held the lifeless Isabella, thinking of the order he had given Dylan during the day.

He had once had a child. That child had died at the hands of his biological father.

Before it was even born, it had turned into a pool of blood.

"The child in Ms. Tudor's belly is indeed yours. Nothing happened between her and Mr. Dickson."

William did not dare close his eyes. Whenever he closed them, he would think of Isabella's bleeding lower body.
