Chapter 19 Again Threat
Sarah
The car next to me was spotlessly clean, so shiny that I could clearly see my reflection in it. Then the passenger window rolled down.
A glacial, handsome face came into my field of vision, with captivating, deep eyes fixed on me, and a furrowed brow expressing displeasure at my slowness.
I didn't dare hesitate any longer and immediately opened the car door to get in. As soon as I sat down, the car pulled away.
The silence in the car seemed too tense to me. After a moment's thought, I spoke: "Sorry, I'm a little late. It's just been very crowded lately."
"Of course, I understand that my salary doesn't compare to 190,000, but this is my school, and I can't take it lightly. The principal is very demanding and especially hates lateness and early departures. My workday usually ends at three-thirty. If possible..."
The car stopped abruptly at a red light.
I didn't fasten my seatbelt and, with a cry of "Ah!", lurched forward. My forehead almost hit something, but fortunately, I reacted quickly, extending my hand to protect myself, thus avoiding a potential bloodbath.
As soon as I settled into the seat, someone's hand suddenly reached out and pinned me firmly to the seat. Shawn leaned his entire body toward me, his fragile and indifferent face right next to mine at that moment.
I pressed myself against the seat, my heart pounding. The faint scent of mint emanating from his body unnerved me a little, and for a moment, I was afraid, unsure of what he was about to do.
But at this time, I quickly understood. With a hiss, he yanked the seatbelt tightly. His cold gaze fell on me as he deftly fastened the belt. I only returned to reality with the click.
Looking up, I saw him cast me an impassive glance before returning to the driver's seat, pretending nothing had happened. My face, buffeted by the intensely cold air in the car, felt for the first time that the cold wasn't enough.
Only when the light turned green and Shawn started the car did I mutter a few words: "Thank you."
For a moment, I thought he was going to kiss me, but the sound of my seat belt was a bit of a disappointment. I really wanted to slap my head. What was I thinking?
Shawn's finger gripped the steering wheel, and as he stepped on the gas, his lips moved slightly: "From now on, all fines for not wearing a seat belt will be yours, and in the event of an accident, everything will be yours. Medical expenses are none of my business."
A steady bucket of cold water poured out, and I felt my racing heart instantly return to normal. I clenched my fist, repeating to myself thirty times: fasten your seat belt, fasten your seat belt, fasten your seat belt...
He drove quickly, and I looked out the window, gradually approaching the business district. I didn't know where the sponsor was heading, so I simply pulled out my phone again.
My fingers flew across the keyboard, but the fake worked rather slowly, barely keeping up with my typing speed, which had driven me to the brink of despair several times.
Seeing me quiet, he noticed out of the corner of his eye that I was constantly staring at my phone.
His brow furrowed, clearly expressing displeasure. "Delete Chat."
I looked up, shocked and confused.
Has Chat offended him? Had there really been fierce competition with Penguin recently?
I couldn't recall fucking billionaire treating his employees so inhumanely before. Romano’s Corporation wasn't in the instant messaging business, right?
"Then let me post on Moments first, so everyone knows." I didn't ask directly why, so as not to remind him once again how much of my 190,000 was still subject to deduction.
"Sorry, my phone hang." I showed him my phone screen, my clear eyes softly blinking, and asked in a negotiating tone, "Can I delete it next time?"
Shawn ignored it, merely frowning, as if irritated. A few minutes later, the car stopped in front of a shopping mall.
A debit card was thrown into my hand.
I understood the significance of this card perfectly well, as my mother had once had one too. But I'd only seen it, never used it myself. And then Shawn casually tossed the card into my hands, like a coin.
"No PIN. You can forge my signature." He also turned off the engine. "The latest model, any color."
I nodded, carefully placed the card in my bag, and got out of the car.
Fucking billionaire was truly unusually generous, tossing the card so casually. As soon as Lu Wanwan entered the Mall, I immediately relaxed.
Shawn wasn't picky about his purchases, and his demands were simple; I didn't even have to look twice.
"The color... rose gold," I smiled playfully, turning to the saleswoman. He'd allowed me to choose any color, so he couldn't blame me for my choice.
Come to think of it, someone like Shawn Romano usually doesn't like to break his word; having said the color was up to me, he should have kept it, even if it hurt him.
Besides, a cold personality like his required balance with bright colors.
"Okay, miss, come here to pay," the saleswoman said.
Shawn's phone naturally had to have the highest specifications, and therefore the highest price.
Faced with a bill exceeding ten thousand, I didn't even blink as I reached for my card.
"Miss, you took the wrong card, right?" he said.
"It's fine, just swipe it, there won't be any problems." Frowning, the cashier, not wanting to waste my energy, decided to swipe my card to prove my point, and to my surprise, it worked!
I calmly took the receipt, but hesitated for a moment when it came to signing. I had been practicing imitating Shawn's signature for over a week.
I wrote it every day, at every opportunity; I even accidentally wrote "Shawn Romano" instead of my name on exam papers.
How the hell was Shawn so sure I could still forge it perfectly?
"Here, miss," the cashier smiled, handing me the now genuine receipt and phone number. "We'll be happy to welcome you back."
