CHAPTER 30
Noah.
Yes, I wanted to share with her everything and even more than that. If those letters are important to her, then without a second thought, I will make it happen. But as I stood there, the weight of my feelings pressed down on me, and I realized that I too had something incredibly significant to me. It was her! I had always despised tattoos, and I never thought that I would do something like this one day, yet here I was, ready to mark my skin with her name. She's the closest person to my heart, my soulmate, and I should keep her name close to me wherever I go—a permanent reminder of my love and unwavering commitment to her.
After the man left, I commanded everyone to stay outside and prepare the limo because we were going out. The anticipation buzzed in the air like electricity, and I felt a mix of excitement and nerves coursing through my veins. She was standing there, beaming at me in silence, studying my reactions with those wide, expressive eyes that seemed to see right into my soul. Then she stepped slowly, taking a hesitant pace toward me. Her fingers brushed against my bare chest, tracing the outline of her name inked there, and in that moment, I felt a connection that was both thrilling and terrifying. Her touch could turn me on in an instant, but I made a vow to myself to focus solely on what she wanted. I would dedicate all my time and energy just for her, ensuring that she felt cherished, adored, and treasured.
"Why Noah?" A tear rolled down her cheek, glistening in the light like a fragile pearl, and my heart ached at the sight. I wanted to wipe it away, to banish her sadness.
I pulled her into my lap, raising my head confidently to meet her gaze. "Because you are mine forever. I told you that before, after we slept together. Do you remember?"
She nodded, her smile slightly hesitant, her expression a mix of joy and disbelief. "Yes, I still remember; don’t worry."
I leaned in and pecked her lips gently, feeling a warmth spread through me, filling the empty spaces in my heart. "Good, because I will revise our days together every day," I promised, my voice firm yet tender. I cleared my throat, then stood up, helping her to her feet with a sense of purpose. "Now, let's change our clothes. We are going shopping."
She narrowed her eyes at me, a playful spark igniting within them. "Really? I thought you didn't like this kind of—um..." she trailed off, searching for the right words, a hint of mischief dancing in her expression.
But I already knew what she was getting at, so I cut her off with a grin. "Everything will change starting from now. We will do everything together. Or don’t you want me to pick your clothes for you?" I winked at her, teasing her just a bit, my heart racing at the thought of her in beautiful outfits.
She shook her head, her expression feigning seriousness even as her lips threatened to curl into a smile. "I guess you should stay here because I have no intentions of wearing something awful. I know you will choose something that covers most of my body."
I nodded, smirking as I pulled her closer by the waist, kissing her neck softly, feeling her warmth against me. "Yes, exactly. But I will do my best to give you some space, I promise."
Her smile was radiant, lighting up the room as she pulled away slightly, her eyes sparkling with excitement. "Then let's go and have some fun together."
"One more thing, Selena," I stopped her as she turned toward the door, my tone serious.
She widened her eyes, curiosity flooding her features. "What is it, Noah?" she asked, her tone filled with intrigue, and I could see the gears turning in her mind.
I said sternly, pointing my finger at her face, "I want you to spend money as much as you could. Seriously! Buy everything you want, whether it's for you, your parents, or your friends—everything!" I informed her, a sense of excitement creeping into my voice. I wanted her to feel free, to indulge herself without worrying about anything.
She flipped her hair arrogantly, a familiar gesture that made me smile. "Honey, don't worry. I will make you beg me to stop shopping. But—" she rolled her eyes playfully, a teasing challenge in her voice.
"What?" I furrowed my brows, slightly confused but intrigued by her playful tone.
"I want to buy a house in every country we go to, even a small one. Could we do this?" she asked, her enthusiasm infectious, and I couldn’t help but feel my own excitement building.
I rubbed my chin, gazing at her with admiration. "Are you serious? Sure, we can be silly, and get a big one as well. Just snap your fingers, and it will be done. And guess what? I will put your name on the gate of every house."
She gasped, her eyes wide with disbelief and delight. "No, no! I want you to put another name."
I stepped closer to her, intrigued by her request. "Another name?"
She sighed, tugging her fingers nervously, a hint of vulnerability showing through. "Yes, I want you to put NPS."
Not again, please! Why does she keep hurting me like this?! I'm trying to forget about that memory, even for a fleeting second. But at least she is giving me some ideas to make her memorize our life together somehow, creating a narrative that binds us in ways I could never have anticipated.
I nodded with an approving tone, trying to mask the turmoil within me. "Sure, just snap. Now let's go shopping."
We quickly got dressed, and I insisted on making her wear casual jeans and a simple white shirt, something that would accentuate her beauty while keeping her comfortable. I hated when everyone looked at her, especially other men. Even the women stared at her all the time, their eyes filled with envy and admiration. I really hated that. I knew she was born beautiful, and this was a precious gift from God, but she was mine, and I liked to keep her beauty only for me, hidden away from prying eyes and wandering gazes.
We left the hotel, and I wrapped my arms around her waist, feeling her warmth seep into me, grounding me in the moment. She was giggling all the time, and it filled me with joy that radiated through my entire being.
"Could you tell me why you are laughing?" I stopped, gazing at her while I opened the door of the limo for her, feeling like a prince escorting his queen.
She scoffed lightly, a teasing smile on her lips. "Because you keep wrapping your arms around me tightly as if I was going to run away from you! Seriously, try to calm down. I'm still fine. You are Noah, and I'm your lawful crazy wife, Selena. See! I do remember you."
I hugged her tightly, whispering huskily, "I'm sorry. But I do worry about you. Sometimes I feel that I should handcuff your hands with mine so we don't separate at all." I sighed, revealing my critical emotions towards her, my fears spilling out like an open wound.
She kissed my cheek, her face flushing in a way that took my breath away, making my heart race. "I'm embarrassed. Just with you, I don't know why. Maybe because I feel like I’m reborn again after meeting you."
With that, we both got inside the limo. We chatted all the time, laughing and sharing stories, while I made a few calls to handle some business matters that needed my attention. But she was gazing out of the window, trying to remember if she had visited those places before or if she wanted to memorize every single street in her head forever, creating a mental map of our journey together.
I was like a lovesick fool, watching her innocent features, spacing out with every movement she made—the way her eyes lit up, the graceful way her fingers danced, or even how the strands of her hair caught the light, glinting like spun gold in the sun.
After a few minutes, we reached the famous Champs-Élysées in Paris to start our shopping adventure. Suddenly, her eyes bloomed like a child who had just discovered a treasure box full of chocolates, filled with wonder and excitement.
She even jumped out of the limo before the driver had fully parked, dragging me hurriedly as she pointed excitedly at everything around her. But she didn’t step inside any of the stores. I narrowed my eyes, pulling her to a stop, my voice firm. "Honey, we are here for shopping, not for visiting the sights! Let's go and pick some clothes."
She blinked, her enthusiasm slightly dimmed as she hummed, contemplating her options. "I think I don’t need any of those. I need something else." She moved her fingers to her lips, a flush creeping up her cheeks as she hesitated.
I blurted out, "What is it?" My heart raced, wondering what she wanted.
"I need pregnancy clothes and some stuff for the baby," she said softly, a smile gracing her lips that sent my heart racing, sending butterflies fluttering wildly in my stomach.
And I can’t express the overwhelming feeling of having a child with her. Seriously, I wanted to jump around like a fool, celebrating the joy of impending parenthood. To be honest, I had momentarily forgotten about that baby because of her illness. I even realized I had pushed thoughts of Steven, our soon-to-arrive bundle of joy, to the back of my mind. This would be a delightful surprise for her as well, a twist in our already complex narrative.
I snapped to attention, bringing myself back to reality. "Well, okay. Let's find stores for mommy." I wrapped my arms around her waist, and we began looking for one of those stores, but as we walked, we crossed a beauty salon. She suddenly gazed at the place, her expression shifting to one of recognition, a light flickering in her eyes.
I stared at her, puzzled by her reaction. "What? Do you want a haircut? We could make an appointment and bring a stylist to you at the resort or even at our palace in Italy."
She shook her head, a sigh escaping her lips before she blurted out while stepping inside, "I think I was here before."
I followed her inside, and an elegant man opened his arms to her, exclaiming in shock, "Oh my God! Mademoiselle Selena! Comment vas-tu? Tu m’as tellement manqué!"
She widened her eyes, confusion etched across her face. "Excuse me! Do you know me? Sorry, I don’t speak French!" Selena said to this man who obviously looked like the owner of this grand and famous beauty salon, his enthusiasm palpable.
He stepped closer to her, his face a mix of joy and disbelief. "What? You do know French so damn well! What happened to you? I used to be your hairdresser for a year!" he said, flabbergasted, his eyes sparkling with recognition.
Dammit! Who is he for God’s sake?! And she used to live in France for a whole year? But she didn’t look like someone who had lived here! God! I need to take care of the hospital now; this is too urgent, and her sickness is heading into a critical phase. My mind raced with concern—what did this mean for her? What memories had she buried deep, and how could I help her unearth them without causing her pain? All I wanted was to protect her and ensure she was safe, healthy, and happy. My heart ached with the weight of uncertainty, and I could only hope that our love would be strong enough to weather whatever storms lay ahead.
