boys will be boys
Kush knocked on the door of the room Nayera was in, “Nayera? Nayera?” He called her name but she did not answer.
Kush bit his lip; he could not just walk into a girl’s room, ‘she might be naked,’ his mind spoke all of a sudden as he clung to the thought.
He sighed, shaking the thought off his mind. He knocked on the door again, “Nayera! Nayera! It's 7 am already, wake up!” he yelled and waited for a few seconds, but when she did not open the door nor did she make any sound, he grew worried.
He held the knob of the door, contemplating with worry. He knocked loudly on the door once again, “ERA?” he called her name once again.
When she did not answer for another minute, he grew impatient.
‘That’s it, I am walking in,’ He turned the doorknob and opened the door. Inside, he could see the cutest sight he had ever seen, although her legs on full display were making him drop his head.
She was sleeping on her back with just a t-shirt on, the clothes from last night were on the couch and she was hugging a pillow close to her chest. If it was not enough, she curled herself into the fetus's position.
Kush looked away hurriedly as her red thong was on full show now because the t-shirt had risen. He walked out of the room and closed the door behind him, not wanting any male attendee around the house to see her that way.
The thought alone made rage fly in his veins as he closed his eyes for a moment, “Excuse me, go and wake her up,” He said to one of the lady attendees and walked to get his laptop and other things.
A few minutes passed as the door of her room opened, Nayera walked out with the help of the attendee, she was still in her t-shirt.
“Hi,” She said, putting a stand for her now combed hair behind her ear as she looked at him.
“Hey,” he said, holding her hand as she winched and left the attendee’s hand.
“It's 7 already, we should get going,” he said as he looked around. The male attendees were looking at her exposed legs; he clinched his fist before he called all the staff for a meeting.
“What are you doing, Kush? We will be late,” Nayera said as Kush helped her sit on one of the couches.
“It won’t take more than 5 minutes and I am your boss, so chill,” he said with a small smile as the staff gathered.
“What would you do if someone stared at your daughter the wrong way?” he asked everyone. Nayera frowned, why was he asking all this when they needed to leave?
“I will beat the shit out of him,” One of the lady attendees said as Kush nodded his head.
‘typical men,’ Nayera thought, rolling her eyes.
“Hari, what would you do if someone stared at your wife?” he asked the guy who was eyeing Nayera earlier. Nayera let out an irritated breath. Why was he having this conversation right now?
“I won’t leave him,” he replied within an instant.
“What do you think then I should do with you?” Kush said in a dark tone as he held his collar; Nayera stood up with the help of the sofa as Kush looked at Hair with anger-filled eyes.
“What should I do to you for eyeing her disgustingly?” He yelled at him before he threw four-five punches at him.
“Kush, stop it!” Nayera said to him as an attendee helped her walk. The pain was too much for her own liking.
“How about I look at your wife the same way you were eyeing her, hmm?” Kush said as Hari looked at him with anger and launched punches back at Kush.
“What happened? Got anger? Rage? I feel the same way, you bastard!” Kush said, holding his punch before it could touch his stomach.
“then she should have worn clothes that are fit for a place where males are!” Hari yelled back when he could not fight Kush as he was much stronger than Hari.
“You do not have the right to call yourself a man! People like you are a black spot in the name of man. A true man knows how to respect girls not eye rape them!” Kush said as he threw more punches at him.
“Kush stop! Security!” Nayera yelled as the security guards came in running. But they stopped when they saw their Kunwar sa (prince) fighting with Hari.
“Throw him out!” he ordered the security staff. The guards nodded and walked away, taking Hari with them.
Nayera glared at him and then looked at his bloodied hands, ‘typical boys start fighting whenever they can, such a boy!’ she thought, but she was grateful to him as well because he fought for her. Nobody had ever fought for her other than Nihalika.
‘And you hurt the same girl with your words,’ her inner voice said as she took a deep breath. She did not have time to deal with her self-criticizing mind.
“We are getting late, let’s go,” She said as he nodded and took her in his arms.
“I have the medicines Veerendra's uncle prescribed. Take these once you eat something,” He handed the brown packet to Nayera, who nodded.
They did not exchange more words as the car stopped in front of Nayera’s place.
Nayera opened her side of the door as Kush came in running to her side. He held her hand and bent to pick her up but she put her hand on his chest, shaking her head.
“I can fight my own battles, Kush, but thank you for what you did today,” she said as he nodded. Walking inside the house, Nayera paused as she saw Aleyna and Nihalika with their phones in their hands.
“Oh you’re back, good, we were just about to call you,” Aleyna said as Nayera nodded. Nihalika walked back to her room the very next instant. Nayera felt a pang of pain flow through her veins but she decided to ignore it.
“Give me five minutes, okay?” Nayera said to Kush as he nodded and settled on the couch. He could sense the tension between Nihalika and Nayera but chose to keep his mouth shut.
