Epilogue-2

"Are you calling me a liar?" "No, love. Of course not." Jeremy cleared his throat. "I actually brought a few extra flavours. You can see if you like any of them." "Excellent idea," Alec spoke and sprinted into the kitchen and came out, balancing a few ice cream tubs in his arms. My eyes lit up when I saw the mint chocolate chip flavour. "That one," I pointed and Alec placed it infront of me. "Thank you, Jeremy," I smiled. "Yeah seriously. Thank you, Jeremy," Alec let out a breath. I didn't know when Jeremy left because I was so busy shoving that delicious ice cream in my mouth. My attention went to Alec, who was sitting beside me, watching me with amusement. "Oh sorry. Where are my manners?" I muttered. "You want some?" "No I'm good." "But I'm eating alone," I pouted. His eyes fell down to my lips. "Um okay." I lifted a spoon to his lips. "Isn't it yummy?" While extending the spoon again, I accidently put some ice cream on his chin and didn't waste any time in leaning forward and licking it off. His eyes flickered with want. I stopped eating mid way. He leaned forward and I shoved the ice cream in his mouth. His eyes grew wide in surprise as he choked for a moment. "Oh God! I'm so sorry. I don't know what I was thinking. Are you okay?" He nodded once his breath had settled. "I-I thought you wanted ice cream. I'm sorry." "That's okay," He nodded and got up. "Are you mad at me?" I asked, feeling bad all of a sudden. Maybe he just wanted to kiss me. And I almost choked him. He must have seen my fallen expression as he sat down beside me with a soft look in his eyes. "No. Not at all." I leaned forward and kissed him lingeringly. He wrapped his arms around me and tangled his fingers in my hair. "I'm sorry. I know I've been acting like a child since these past few days." "That's not your fault really," He smiled. "It's actually a child doing all these tricks through you. Our child." I chuckled. "My weird thoughts must be the reason why I find this creepy." He shook his head at me. Next morning.. I frantically looked into the fridge, ignoring the footsteps behind me. "What is the matter, Scarlet?" "I'm looking for that strawberry ice cream," I turned around. "Where is it?" Blood seemed to have drained from Alec's face. "I thought you didn't like strawberry." "Well yesterday I didn't," I went back to searching. "I...uh...I ate it," He spoke. I turned to him. "I'm sorry," He blinked. "I'll just go and get another-" "No. It's fine." "Really? Because I could just go and get it for you-" "No. I said it's fine." "Scarlet, you're mad at me. I'm sorry." I let out a chuckle. "No, Alec. I'm not mad at you. I was craving for it a while ago but now the craving is just suddenly gone." "Are you sure?" I nodded. "Can I have kisses instead?" A surprised look fell on his face, followed by a smile and he nodded, taking a step forward. "Sure." "No. I mean the chocolates." It took him a moment to let that sink in. "Of course, Mrs. Sinclair," He nodded, picked up his car keys and gave me a little salute before leaving. I chuckled in embarrassment. **** "I love you and all but it doesn't mean you get to stay inside for the rest of your life," I shouted at my belly. Ugh. Groaning, I shut the TV off and stared at nothing in particular. Just then, my phone rang. It was Alec. "Hey," I spoke, bored. "Hey. What are you upto?" "Nothing- Oh! Oh My God! Alec-" "What-What? What happened?" "I think-" "Your water broke? Wait. Let me just tell Jeremy to get you in the car. I'll meet you halfway to the hosp-" "No. Alec. I think I left the popcorn in the kitchen." I heard him sigh. That was my cue to laugh. "I get you every single day." "That's not funny." I kept laughing. "Honestly, I'm starting to think the baby likes it in there," I pouted. "Well, I don't know about the baby, love, but I definitely like it in there." My jaw dropped and a blush formed on my cheeks. "You are a horny creep, Mr. Sinclair." He chuckled. I walked to the kitchen and suddenly stopped in my tracks, looking down at my legs. Uh oh. "Alec, I think my water just broke." "Ha Ha Ha. I told you it's not funny-" "No," I suddenly shouted. "I swear I'm not joking this time." "What?" His voice grew alarmed. "Yes. I swear. Calling Jeremy and meeting me halfway to the hospital. I guess now might be the time to actually do that, Alec." "Like for real?" "Oh My God," I snapped. "Yes." "Oh! Okay! Okay! Just hold on. Stay calm. Everything is gonna be fine." "I'm calm." "I'm calling Jeremy. Don't panic, okay? Stay on the line. Talk to me." "Yeah whatever. Just hurry up," I snapped. The doors to the mansion opened and Jeremy stepped inside. He helped me get into the car while Martha brought my maternity bag along. Alec did meet us halfway there and throughout the ride, he held my hand and seemed even more panicked than me. We finally reached the hospital. I remember being in labour for a few hours and I was too exhausted while giving birth. Alec was there by my side all the time and kept telling me to keep my eyes open. It all seemed to have stopped for a moment and then, I heard the cry of a baby. The voice was so little and delicate I could've easily missed it for the wind. I stared around me through tired eyes and felt Alec beside me. "It's Nick," Alec whispered. I saw the nurse walking up to me. "Here, you wanna hold him?" I nodded through my tears and let out a small gasp when she placed my boy in my arms. He was the most beautiful little thing I had ever seen. Even though his eyes were closed, I felt like I'd looked into them a million times before and that, I'd known him all my life. I placed a soft kiss on his forehead and looked up at Alec with a smile. He was just looking at our baby as if he was still trying to process the situation. "Meet your dad, Nick," I whispered and Alec settled down beside me. He lifted his shaky hand to Nick's cheek and gently touched him. "You wanna hold him?" I asked. "I-I don't know how." That was enough to make me forget about my exhaustion and let out a laugh. "Here," I gently put him in Alec's arms, slightly afraid that he might drop him but Alec held him securely, close to his chest. "My son," He whispered under his breath as he watched our baby. He bent down and placed a kiss on Nick's tiny forehead. "I love you." I took in a shaky breath when I saw a tear roll down Alec's cheek. "Oh, Alec," I whispered and he looked at me. "Thank you, Scarlet," He shifted closer to me and kissed my temple. "And thank you," He looked down at the miracle in his arms. "For coming in our lives." I lifted my hand and wiped his tears away. "I'm never going to be alone again," He whispered and placed his head on my shoulder. "That's right. Me and Nick love you," I smiled at him. "And I love you both....more than anything."
