Wild Dog
Mid-way, Ariel turned to Pius, "Maria Smith is still waiting for me to come back, you can go to the car, and please take the devil along with you". With that being said, Ariel turned towards their table. Pius looked on helplessly.
"What took you so long?"
"Just a wild dog trying to bite me" Ariel replied.
"What?" Ariel sigh
"Just ignore it."
"I hope you can treat Rex better and give him more love. Look at it this way you two are on the same boat without a captain. How you survive depends on how you work hard together. Let him feel the warmth of having a family". Ariel pursed her lips and looked at Maria.
"There's no love between us. We're only husband and wife on paper"
"All you have to do is to warm up to Rex even if your affections towards him are fake. Here, take this black card. The amount of money on it is enough to buy anything you want, all am asking in return is to take care of Rex"
Ariel looked at Maria shocked, as she placed the gold card on the table.
"I'm sorry, but I don't need your money before I can take care of my husband. If I understand you correctly, what you're saying is that I should pretend to love Rex, right? If I pretended to love him for a sec, he would see right through my lies. Rex Anderson is so smart that nothing can deceive him. If there's a need for me to be concerned about him, it should be from my heart, not being a hypocrite. I'll take care of Rex, fulfill my marital duties because he's my husband, even if there's no love in our marriage, even without you asking."
"Did you not say there's no love between you too, yet you fulfill marital duties."
"That doesn't stop me from doing that."
Maria Smith looked at Ariel and smiled "Are you in love with Rex Anderson?"
"No, but I owe him a lot. Not only did he give me a family, he was the one that paid for my aunt's medical expenses."
"I won't force you to take the card then; I'll keep it safe whe...."
Before Maria Smith could complete her sentence, a voice suddenly cut in.
"Maria Smith, can you not always make every discussion about me?"
Maria chuckled softly, she wasn't surprised at all by Rex Anderson's arrival. She had been expecting him.
Ariel turned towards Pius, and the latter shook his head.
The devil must have refused to wait in the car.
Rex Anderson slid his wheelchair and sat beside Ariel.
"Young Master of the Anderson, I'm sorry all I could afford to get you here is water" Maria waved to the waiter. "Give this gentle man the cheapest cup of sparkling water."
"Yes Miss"
"Is coming here to keep an eye on us really necessary? Don't worry, I won't hurt her, it was just a casual talk."
"How would I have known what you want to tell her?" Rex paused and looked at Ariel, his lips twitched.
"Maria Smith, stop meddling in my affairs. I don't want to keep going back to the past"
"I can't"
I guessed right. These two were lovers. Why should I continue staying here? It's obvious she was the person he had in his heart.
"Pius, when was the last time you visited the forest?"
"Young Master, tell me your commands"
"Take the young Madam to the car"
"Yes"
Ariel couldn't ask for anything more as she had already felt like the third wheel in their relationship. Not long after, Rex wheeled himself out towards his car.
As Rex reached the car, Pius opened the car door and helped him transfer from his wheelchair into the passenger seat.
The car drove all the way to Anderson Manor. Ariel kept playing the scenes of the day she was insulted in the Ann villa in her mind. Her mind couldn't help but wander to the years she stayed with Damian. Every heart-warming scene made her heart ache so much that she felt suffocated. However, she braced herself.
Damian Ford I spent my childhood waiting for the day we would get married like a fool, even if all these years you don't like me, why would you send me to another man's bed after betraying my trust, Why? Why? Damian Ford!
Rex Anderson looked at Ariel Ann waiting for her to talk about the situation in the lounge, but he was shocked to see her unbothered.
After an hour, the Range Rover finally stopped at Anderson Manor.
"Mrs Anderson, we're home."
When Pius heard Rex's words, he immediately got out of the car and opened the door for Ariel Ann before helping Rex Anderson out of the car.
Thank you for taking care of my aunt. I'll be visiting her at the hospital tomorrow. She said her mind jogged today's event together.
By the time Ariel Ann got up so that she could go see her aunt and then go to the company.
She was puzzled to see that Rex Anderson had already put on his clothes, sitting in his wheelchair.
"Where are you going?" Rex Anderson coughs lightly.
"Did you not get up so early just to go see Aunt? I'm going to accompany her"
Ariel looked at the man with a raised brow.
"Devil Anderson, my aunt has been in the hospital for a long time. She doesn't need your company, you don't need to go there. Besides, I don't need you to act as my lovely husband in front of my aunt"
Rex Anderson tidied up his clothes, raised his eyebrows and looked at Ariel.
"How can you tell me not to go? I'm all dressed to go see my -in-law and you..." Seeing Rex Anderson's stubbornness, Ariel sighed.
"You don't have to go."
"The doctor taking care of your aunt told me she's worried about you. If I go she will feel at ease", Rex said gently, as he tidied up his clothes for the second time.
"Rex Anderson, I appreciate your kindness for paying my aunt's hospital bills, but I don't think you're so kind as to use your precious time to take care of my aunt" Ariel paused and frowned "Rex Anderson, tell me what did you want? If I have offended you. Come to me directly, don't involve my aunt in this, she's not part of the Ann family" Rex frowned. "What else did Maria Smith say to you"
"Nothing"
"Women are like this! they say this, but they mean that. Yesterday you were thanking me for being nice to you. Women are feeble-minded.
