Chapter 325 Marriage
Chapter 325 Marriage
Alvin Jordan, who had just emerged from seclusion in Serenity and reconnected with the outside world, learned his precious apprentice was getting married and immediately rushed to Lucent.
On the way, Alvin didn't forget to message Victoria.
[Victoria, you're getting married and didn't even tell me? Have you forgotten about your mentor? I've lifted my secret identity and I'm almost in Lucent. I want to see which punk stole away my precious apprentice!]
Victoria received the message and immediately brought Caspian along to meet Alvin.
After waiting so long, Alvin had finally appeared.
The mentor and apprentice hadn't seen each other in ages.
When she spotted Alvin, Victoria couldn't help but rush over and hug him.
"Alvin, you finally decided to show your face! When you disappeared without a word, I thought something had happened to you."Alvin patted Victoria's back a few times, grinning from ear to ear.
"Everything happened so fast—I didn't have time to leave you a message. Then I got sent on a classified mission with zero contact with the outside world. The second I got back online, I saw you were getting married. Didn't even stop for water before I rushed over here."
At the mention of marriage, Alvin's expression turned serious.
He fixed his gaze on Victoria. "Alright, spill. Which punk conned you into this?"
He knew his precious apprentice inside and out. Victoria had never given a damn about romance.
How long had he even been gone? And now she was getting married?
Anyone would assume she'd been scammed.
Caspian, who'd been standing behind Victoria this whole time, stepped forward.
He introduced himself with quiet confidence. "Mr. Jordan, hello. I'm Victoria's fiancé."
Boyfriend before, fiancé now, husband soon enough.
He'd always been good at claiming his titles.
Alvin looked him over and made a small sound of surprise, his eyes sweeping up and down Caspian's face.
"Kid, you look familiar. Have we met somewhere before?"
Something about that face rang a bell.
Caspian dropped Gavin's name with practiced calm.
Alvin's expression darkened on the spot.
So that was the little shit who'd been stringing his precious apprentice along. Gavin. That old fool's grandson. Well, of course—a rotten tree bears rotten fruit.
Gavin's grandson couldn't be any better.
Alvin narrowed his eyes. "So you're Gavin's grandson. No wonder I don't like the look of you."
"By the way... Gavin's body hasn't given out on him yet, has it? After all these years without training, he's definitely not as sharp as me. Probably needs someone to push him around in a wheelchair by now."
Victoria had been a little worried at first, thinking Alvin and Gavin had some kind of feud.
But seeing Alvin awkwardly try to ask about Gavin's health—wanting to know but too stubborn to ask directly, dancing around the question instead—she found it kind of funny.
Caspian could naturally hear the concern beneath Alvin's words.
"My grandfather's doing fine. You don't need to worry."
Caught by the younger man, Alvin felt a little embarrassed.
He doubled down. "I'm not worried about him. His grandson stole my precious apprentice—I haven't even settled that score with him yet."
The driver pulled the car around.
Caspian personally opened the door. "Grandfather's waiting for you at home. Please."
Alvin's expression softened slightly. Caspian had manners, at least. Better than his grandfather.
As time passed, the wedding date drew closer.
Caspian personally oversaw every detail of the wedding—from the venue and guest list down to the bouquet and rings. Everything crossed his desk.
Victoria, the bride, got to play hands-off. She didn't have to worry about a thing.
When word got out that she was getting married, her friends all volunteered to help.
Top fashion designer Katerina handled her wedding dress. Jasmine, head of Luminora, designed an entire jewelry suite for her. A military big shot sent gift flowers...
One priceless gift after another arrived at the Windsor family estate.
Even the Windsors were stunned.
Mike couldn't help but marvel. "Victoria, where the hell did you meet all these people? Your connections are insane."
---
Time flew by. Before long, the day of Victoria and Caspian's wedding arrived.
The weather couldn't have been more perfect—a gentle breeze, warm sunlight.
The wedding was outdoors, just the way Victoria liked it, held on the lawn of a private estate.
Caspian stood in a perfectly tailored white suit, watching from a distance as Victoria, dressed in a pure white gown and beautiful as an angel, slowly walked toward him.
Simon placed Victoria's hand into Caspian's.
The officiant spoke. "Caspian, whether the days ahead bring poverty or wealth, sickness or health, do you promise to remain faithful to Victoria, to never leave her, and to protect her for the rest of your life?"
Caspian's gaze deepened. His throat worked. "I do."
The officiant turned. "Victoria, do you promise to remain faithful to Caspian, and to walk hand in hand with him through life, no matter what poverty, illness, or hardship may come?"
Victoria's voice was steady. "I do."
The officiant smiled. "Then by the authority vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride."
Caspian looked calm and composed on the surface, but the hand holding Victoria's trembled faintly, beyond his control.
When the officiant told him he could kiss the bride, a flash of tears shimmered in his dark eyes. He slowly lowered his gaze and kissed her gently.
A single tear fell silently onto Victoria's cheek.
She looked up in surprise and met his reddened eyes.
Why was he crying?
Victoria lifted her hand and gently wiped the tear from the corner of his eye. "Why are you crying?"
Caspian's voice was rough. "I'm happy."
He gazed deeply at her, his eyes brimming with love he'd suppressed for far too long—love that was almost overflowing.
She would never know how much he loved her. Loved her to the point of fear. Loved her to the point of feeling small and unworthy.
But now, at last, he had married the woman he loved.
Still, the road ahead held countless unknowns. Perhaps this story was only just beginning.
(The End)
