Chapter 59 Hospitalized

Chapter 59 Hospitalized
Omniscient Narrative

Aries underwent an emergency thoracotomy, during which the surgeons repaired the damage to his chest and controlled the internal bleeding.

Kai underwent an emergency laparotomy, during which the surgeons repaired the damage to his legs and removed the bullets.

As the sun began to set, Dr. Thompson finally had a moment to catch his breath. The two patients were stable, but their conditions were still critical. Dr. Thompson knew that the next 24 hours would be crucial in determining their outcomes.

As he made his way to the hospital's cafeteria to grab a cup of coffee, Dr. Thompson couldn't help but wonder about the circumstances surrounding the two patients' injuries.

'Who had shot the older man' he couldn't help but think, and 'who had attacked the other man with a knife?' And 'what was the nature of their relationship?'

Dr. Thompson's curiosity was piqued, and he knew that he would have to dig deeper to uncover the truth.

As he sipped his coffee and reflected on the events of the day, Dr. Thompson was approached by a detective from the local police department.

"Dr. Thompson, I'm Detective James," the detective said, flashing his badge. "I'm investigating the shootings and stabbings that brought these two patients to the hospital. Can you tell me anything about their conditions and what they've told you?"

Dr. Thompson hesitated, unsure of how much information to share. But something about the detective's kind eyes put him at ease.

"They're both critical, but stable," Dr. Thompson said. "As for what they've told me, well, the young man with knife cuts hasn't said much. He's been in and out of consciousness. But the older man with bullet wounds...hasn't been able to speak even with his weak attempts"

The detective nodded thoughtfully. "I see. Well, Dr. Thompson, is it?, I think it's time we had a talk with the young man with knife cuts. Can you arrange for me to speak with him?"

Dr. Thompson nodded, making a mental note to check on the patient's condition before allowing the detective to question him.

As the detective walked away, Dr. Thompson couldn't help but wonder what secrets the two patients were hiding. And he knew that he would have to navigate a complex web of relationships and motivations to uncover the truth.

......

Just when he was about to prepare to meet the two men regarding the request from the detective.

Dr. Smith, a tall, imposing figure with a stern expression, stormed into Dr. Thompson's office, slamming the door behind him.

"What's going on here, Thompson?" Dr. Smith demanded, his voice low and menacing.

Dr. Thompson, taken aback by the sudden outburst, leaned back in his chair. "I'm not sure what you're referring to, Smith," he replied calmly.

Dr. Smith's eyes narrowed. "Don't play dumb with me, Thompson. I know all about the two patients you've been treating. The ones with the bullet wounds and knife cuts."

Dr. Thompson's eyes widened slightly, but he remained calm. "What about them?" he asked.

Dr. Smith sneered. "You're going to tell me they're dead. That's what you're going to do."

Dr. Thompson's eyes flashed with alarm. "What are you talking about, Smith? They're not dead. They're both very much recovering in the ICU."

Dr. Smith let out a humorless laugh. "You're going to lie about it, Thompson. You're going to tell me they're dead, and you're going to write up a death certificate for them."

Dr. Thompson's eyes widened in horror. "I won't do it, Smith. I won't lie about their condition. That's unethical and illegal."

Dr. Smith's expression turned cold and calculating. "You'll do it, Thompson. You'll do it because I'm telling you to. And if you don't, I'll make sure you regret it." The man spoke before lifting his shirt a bit showing the man the gun he had tucked in his pants.

Dr. Thompson's heart was racing with fear. He knew that Dr. Smith was a powerful and ruthless man, and he wouldn't hesitate to destroy anyone who stood in his way.

Suddenly, the door to the office burst open, and Aries walked in. He looked pale and weak, but his eyes were cold and calculating.

"Ah, Dr. Thompson," Aries said, his voice dripping with malice. "I see you're having a little chat with Dr. Smith. How nice."

Dr. Thompson's eyes widened in shock. "Aries" he called out, he had come to know the man's name when he woke up the first time, "what are you doing out of bed? You're not well enough to be walking around."

Aries sneered. "I'm fine, Dr. Thompson. And I'm here to make sure you do what Dr. Smith tells you to do."

Dr. Thompson's eyes flashed with anger. "You're in on this together, aren't you? You and Dr. Smith are working together to cover up something."

Aries's expression turned cold and calculating. "We're just trying to protect ourselves, Dr. Thompson. And we'll do whatever it takes to make sure our secrets are kept safe."

Dr. Thompson's heart was racing with fear. He knew that he was in grave danger, and he had to get out of the situation as quickly as possible.

"I'll do it," Dr. Thompson said finally, his voice barely above a whisper. "I'll write up a death certificate for them."

Dr. Smith's expression turned triumphant. "Good boy, Thompson. I knew you'd see things our way."

Aries sneered. "And just to make sure you don't change your mind, Dr. Thompson, I'll be keeping an eye on you. You'll be doing exactly what we tell you to do, or else."

Dr. Thompson's eyes widened in horror as he realized the true extent of the danger he was in.

'Who are these people'

As Dr. Smith and Aries left the office, Dr. Thompson felt a sense of despair wash over him. He had sold his soul to the devil, and he didn't know how to get it back.

He slowly got up from his chair and made his way to the hospital's records department. He knew what he had to do, and he steeled himself for the task ahead.
