Boyfriend
Boyfriend
Raelynn's POV
“Here,” Kieran reaches into the backseat, pulling out a small black, rectangular box.
I hesitate a moment before he sighs softly, pulling off the lid. Inside, is the newest model phone.
My eyes bug out, “Kieran, I can’t accept this,” I try to push it towards him, knowing that phone cost nearly a thousand dollars.
“You need a new phone, and your old one was fucked up because of me… So take it,” he pulls out the device, tossing the box into the backseat, “I had your old data transferred,” he clears his throat. “You have a shit ton of unread messages.”
“I’ll pay you back,” I nearly choke on the words, feeling a flood of emotion.
“Fuckin’ hell, Rae. You saved my life twice and the only reason your phone was broken is because of my shit stain of a father. Please… just… Accept it as a gift. I don’t want anything and it didn’t put me out any.”
“You can’t tell me a thousand dollars didn’t put you out,” the screen illuminates, and Kieran wasn’t lying. Dozens of messages from Sadie, Miles, and even my father pop up. A few from unknown numbers, but I don’t even care to open those. I’m sure if they’re anything like the social media posts, then they aren’t very kind.
Kieran pinches the bridge of his nose, “I’m not good at this shit,” he mutters under his breath before letting out a soft sigh, “I just wanted to fuckin’ do something nice for you, Rae. Please accept it.”
“Okay,” I can’t fight my smile.
Kieran is trying to be a boyfriend.
My boyfriend.
“Thank you,” I push the phone into my pocket, and relief floods his face.
“You sure you’re ready to be here?” he nods towards Clemson’s main building.
I shrug, “I don’t have a choice. I can’t fail…” my teeth grind together. “It’s not an option.”
That was the truth. I needed to get a degree so I could have a stable income for Cae. The phone in my pocket feels like a led weight as I think of the money I’ve been saving for Cae’s implants.
He deserves the world, and I can’t even give him the ability to hear properly.
“Hey,” Kieran’s hand grips my jaw, forcing me to turn back towards him, “You can fuckin’ do this.”
I feel tears burn my eyes. He has no idea how much his support means to me. Especially now.
“I know,” I huff out a laugh. “Thank you for reminding me.”
Keiran drags me closer, pressing his lips to mine. I feel a grin pull on his mouth, “Couldn’t help myself.”
“I don’t want you to hold back,” I whisper.
“If I didn’t hold back, you’d be naked and strapped to my bed instead of heading to your classes for the day,” his teeth clamp down on my bottom lip, pulling away slowly. A full body shiver has me pressing against the leather of his seats with a whine.
He chuckles before shutting off the car, “Don’t worry,” I’m scrambling out of the car to hear what he has to say next, but as I shut the door, he’s right in front of me.
My heart starts to race as people move around us. People who know us, but that doesn’t stop him.
His fingers curl around my jaw once again, softer this time as he tilts my face so that our eyes lock, “Tonight,” Kieran’s voice is low and husky as he leans down to the shell of my ear, “I’ll make good on that.”
“Don’t let me down.”
My voice is a breathy whisper, shocking even myself. I feel like I’m in some alternate timeline. Or maybe a dreamland.
“Can you pinch me first?” I whisper, feeling his fingers tangle in the hair at the nape of my neck.
“I’ll do you one better,” Kieran’s lips smash into mine, teeth clattering, and I taste the coppery tang of blood as he devours my mouth. In public. In front of our college…. Where both of our friends go. Where anyone can see.
My legs feel like jelly when he pulls away, and I find myself pressing my fingers to my mouth as he begins to back away with a wicked grin.
When he was about a hundred feet away, he shouted, “You’re going to be late, Bambi,” before spinning around and disappearing through the main doors.
I couldn’t move, frozen in place with my fingers still pressed against my lips.
Keiran Decker just kissed me in front of everyone.
It feels like such a highschooler thing to care about, but I’ve lived through years of endless torment. Bullying from everyone, including Kieran. And yet… for the first time in my life, I feel wanted. By the very boy I’d admired throughout the years.
I grabbed my backpack from where it had been dropped next to my feet, a smile spread on my mouth that I can’t stop. My cheeks are flushed and I’m a little damp between my legs, but I feel like I’m on top of the world.
“Bitch, you’ve got a lot of explaining to do,” Sadie’s voice shouts from a distance, and I spin around to see her stomping towards me with narrowed eyes.
As soon as she approaches, I expect her to berate me for not responding to her messages, but instead, her arms wrap around my body, squeezing me in a bear hug that steals my breath.
“Before we get into where the hell you’ve been,” she pulls away, leaving her hands gripping my shoulders, “What the hell did I just witness?”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” my cheeks heat.
Sadie rolls her eyes, planting a hand on her hip, “I watched your cute little ass just squirm while being kissed by the Kieran Decker AFTER,” she thumbs towards his Supra, “Climbing out of his car. Wanna try again bitch?”
My eyes widen at her crass commentary, “We’re sort of… dating I guess?”
She nods towards the building, and I fall into step beside her, “Huh. So you’ve been out here getting dicked down while I wonder where the hell you’ve been,” Sadie tsks.
“No!” I rush out, “That… isn’t exactly what happened.”
“Yeah, surrrrreeeeee,” she nudges me with her elbow, her voice carrying as we enter the building, “I get it. He’s like, a Greek god or some shit, so I mean. You’re probably dick drunk….”
“My phone was actually broken,” I cut her off, earning a few stares from her obnoxious commentary. “Had almost nothing to do with,” my eyes dart around as I lower my voice, “Kieran’s…. package.”
“My baby is so proper,” Sadie throws an arm over my shoulder. “I will forgive you IF you spill the deets at lunch and lend an ear,” her eyes grow wide. “I had a wild weekend.”
“Please don’t tell me it had anything to do with the foot guy,” an involuntary shiver rolled down my spine at the memory of her last story.
“This is my stop,” she nodded towards one of the open classrooms. “Meet me in the quad and we’ll talk.”
