Oh oh!
Having just stepped out of the shower, I wrapped myself in a towel, contemplating the imminent rebellion against the stifling rules that governed my every move. An overwhelming desire to break free from the chains of limitation fueled my every action.
My wardrobe, though limited in options, harbored a hidden gem – a dress that had long been reserved for special occasions. Today, however, felt like a day worthy of such luxury. The fabric, a delicate blend of silk and lace, whispered promises of an existence beyond the confines of my sheltered life.
Carefully selecting undergarments that matched the elegance of the dress, I couldn't help but steal glances at my reflection in the mirror. The dress clung to me like a second skin, accentuating the rebellious spirit that burned within.
The thought of ordering a new dress crossed my mind, a fleeting temptation that beckoned me toward a small act of defiance. Yet, practicality prevailed as I envisioned the consequences that would inevitably follow. Ordering new clothes would raise suspicions, leaving an undeniable trail of my plans.
Instead, I resolved to make the best of what I already possessed. The dress, hidden away in the depths of my wardrobe, now emerged as a symbol of independence. With each movement, the fabric rustled like the echo of my determination, a silent declaration of my intent to step into a world of possibilities.
As I fastened the dress, its intricate details spoke volumes. Lace adorned the edges, a delicate frame for the rebellion that lay beneath. The silk in gentle waves, mirroring the inner turmoil I dared not expose.
Having completed my transformation, I stared at the reflection before me. The girl in the mirror, adorned in beauty, was an evident difference from the one they expected me to be. Today, I wasn't merely dressing for an outing; I was cloaking myself in the armor of independence.
Mindful of the prying eyes within the comfort of my home, I tiptoed through the shadows, acutely aware that any misplaced rasp or shuffle could betray my agenda. The dim glow of the hallway light barely touched the corners of the narrow corridor as I walked my way to the back door. Silence enveloped me like a reassuring shroud, heightening the urgency of my mission.
Every step carried the weight of calculated intention. I moved with the finesse of a skilled infiltrator, my senses heightened to detect the faintest sounds that might signal unwelcome attention. The back door, my gateway to liberation, loomed ahead like a portal to the clandestine world awaiting me beyond the familiar thresholds of home.
Behind me lay the realm of rules and expectations, where every action was scrutinized and cataloged. Ahead, an unknown landscape beckoned, promising the allure of independence and unexplored possibilities. The cool touch of the doorknob met my fingertips, a tactile commitment of the decision to forge a path independent of the predefined narratives that dictated my existence.
As the door eased open, I stole a glance back at the interior of the house, the faint glow of the hallway casting shadows on the floor. My heart pulsed in with the beat of secrecy, each beat a testament to the rebellion that simmered within.
I closed the door with the utmost care, ensuring that the latch engaged without a telltale click. The outside world greeted me with a hushed embrace. It wasn't the allure of adventure that propelled me into the night; rather, it was the resonance of a singular mission that unfolded in the secrecy of the evening hours.
Dad had asked me to meet Combo, his friend who we are not close with. He was the one in charge of showing people their check center/blink few into.
As I opened the back door, the warm sunlight greeted me.
I walked through the backyard and down the familiar house back, I could hear my sister's giggle in my head, and I silently prayed for it to last forever.
*Mum, was right about one thing though, nothing lasts forever, not even human* I reasoned.
Dad's keys were in my hands and I quickly ran to his garage, to start the car.
Immediately I entered the car, I took a momentary breath, trying to tell myself that this was my new reality.
But no matter the amount of times I whispered it into my ears, it sounded impossible and far away.
Then my mind went back to Angela, and I closed my eyes.
I boldly brought out the keys and moved them near the keyhole.
But I suddenly stopped to ask myself. *Is this what I want?*
And I answered it myself, because it wasn't a yes or no question, it's more like a question that needs you to sit down before answering it.
Taking a deep breath, I put my keys into the hole, smiled, and stylishly reversed out of the garage.
Ready to take on the world.
……
The ride in the car was boring, and when I got to Combo's huge mansion, I couldn't help but wonder if he was the one who gave you a baby.
*Baby! Just joking*
I came down from the car, stylish heels, kissing the ground unconsciously.
"Here you are princess," I heard Combo's voice. We aren't close to him, but we know that he was in charge of clearing my father's mess.
… … ..
"Uncle Combo, please, let's head for the estate agent's place right now," he said, his voice filled with mischief and I wondered why he was very happy.
"You are in such a hurry anyways, let's go!" He said and quickly brought out his phone to call someone.
I had my doubts and suspicions but it was all cleared immediately after I entered the back seat of his car.
The journey to his house was quieter than usual, my phone kept ringing, but I couldn't answer it.
Suddenly as we were going, vibing to a song, five hefty-looking men came out of a car, heavy guns were with them, and they ambushed us.
