Epilogue
Epilogue
Staring at the full moon, drowned in its beauty, bathed in its silver light, I still hear their voices echoing in my memory.
That night, in the clearing where the stars leaned low and the world hushed to listen, my three mates had asked Mother and Father for my hand. My heart had soared, my tears had fallen, and in their vows, I had found home.
Now, years later, the memory is as clear as moonlight, but the present is brighter still.
Laughter rung through the courtyard, causing me to snap back to reality. I looked down at the pages of the photo album that were opened, where it was the four of us while I was showing the engagement ring they had personally crafted for me, reminiscing to those times. I gently closed it and returned it to the bookshelves before storming out of the library.
Giggles echoed as my feet brought my to the courtyard.
Then I saw our two daughters, Tatiana and Catalina, in their five-year-old, dart between the lantern-lit trees, their small feet pattering against the earth. Thaddeus chased after them with mock ferocity, while Cretheus chuckled and opened his arms as they ran towards him.
"Daddy! Daddy! Hide us from Father!" Tatiana and Catalina said in unison, giggling as they hid behind Cretheus.
"No, no. No more hiding from your daddy." Thaddeus grinned.
Cretheus acted tough. "Don't worry, my little princesses. Daddy is here. I will fight with your father!" Then, he let out a soft roar to scare Thaddeus, making our two girls giggled.
On the other hand, Theodore sat on the veranda, pretending to read while our other daughter, Titania, same age as the two, tugged insistently at his sleeve.
"Papa! Are you listening to me?"
"Yes, yes, sweetie. Papa is listening," he said softly, his eyes gazing at her with a smile plastered on his lips. "What is it that you need again?" He picked her up and made her sit on his lap.
Titania frowned, crossing her arms over her chest. "You said you were listening, Papa."
Theodore smiled sheepishly. "I am kidding. Yes, you wish to come with me in my work." He kissed her on her temple. "But we must ask Mother first. Or else, I will be sleeping on the couch if I bring you there all of a sudden." He smiled wryly.
I lean against the doorway, my chest full, watching the chaos I once could never have dreamed of. The life that grew from that single night's promise has blossomed into something greater than vows.
I pursed my lips into a thin line, feeling overwhelmed and warmth spread on my chest seeing my three mates, fathering our triplets, our dearest daughters named Tatiana, Titania, and Catalina.
As soon as I was pregnant with our triplets six years ago, they were overjoyed about it and had become overprotective of my pregnancy. Despite that they were kind of annoying, I loved that they were hands on on taking care of me, helping me ease with my morning sickness, and even with my cravings.
That was when I learned right away that they were going to be amazing fathers.
When I brought our triplets into the world, joy lit their faces brighter than the dawn. Three little girls, just as each of them had secretly hoped for. Wanting to honor the men who had been not only my mates but steadfast husbands, I insisted they be the ones to give our daughters their names.
Thaddeus chose Tatiana, Theodore whispered Titania, and Cretheus smiled as he claimed Catalina. Each name, tenderly spoken, carried the first letter of the man who bestowed it.
It was a quiet legacy of love woven into our daughters' beginnings.
Our three daughters were the spitting image of me that they really desired. They told me that the more image of me, the merrier. Even though I wanted our daughters would be the spitting images of their fathers.
Their silliness... They never failed to show how much they loved me.
The girls' laughter rang like bells, their tiny arms clinging to their fathers as if the world itself was a game made just for them. I stepped further into the courtyard, and three pairs of eyes lifted to me.
Thaddeus had his wolfish grin, Theodore with his gentle gaze, and Cretheus with that unshakable pride that always made me smile.
"Mother!" our daughters cried, running toward me, tugging at my dress as though I could shield them from the playful war their fathers had waged.
I bent down, brushing their hair back from their flushed little faces, chuckling. "What's this? Are your fathers bullying you again?" I teased, giving my mates a knowing look.
"Yes!" they replied in unison. "Mother, help us please!" They fluttered their eyelids at me, looking so adorable. This made me want to gently pinch their cheeks.
"Hey! Unfair accusations," Thaddeus said, though his grin betrayed him as he tickled Tatiana until she squealed. "And what you three mean you need Mother's help, hmm?"
"Unfair?" I laughed, crossing my arms. "You three gang up on me all the time. Now it's the girls' turn to have their revenge."
Theodore chuckled, closing his book and rising with Titania perched on his hip. "She's right. Perhaps justice has come at last."
Cretheus' deep voice rumbled in amusement as he shifted Catalina onto his shoulder. "Justice, hm? Then let us see how long it lasts."
The girls squealed louder as their fathers swept them up again, tossing, tickling, showering them with kisses until the courtyard rang with laughter. I watched them, warmth blooming in my chest.
Oh, how I loved watching my beloved mates and our daughters being like this.
"Enough, my loves," I finally said, raising my voice over the chaos. "You'll wear them out before bed."
"Or save us the trouble of telling stories tonight," Thaddeus countered with a wink.
I rolled my eyes, but my smile lingered. "That's fine. You have done your job as their fathers. It's my turn to shine as their mother." I playfully winked at them.
The girls finally tumbled into my arms, their laughter breathless, cheeks flushed from too much play. I kissed each of their foreheads before passing them back to their fathers.
"Alright, little moonbeams," I said softly, smoothing back their hair, "time to settle down before you really do tire yourselves out." Three pairs of pouty lips formed instantly, but a stern look from me had them scampering off toward the veranda, where blankets and warm milk waited. Their tiny voices trailed as they chattered with one another, already planning more mischief for tomorrow.
"First to get inside will sleep beside Mother!" Catalina giggled as she ran first.
"Unfair!" Tatiana and Titania roared as they chased after their twin sister.
"Your older brother, Severin, is coming here tomorrow with Malcolm and Macee!" I told them, causing them to jump in joy.
"Yipeee!"
About Severin, he ascended to be the Alpha of the Blazing Winter Pack and married Madeline. Thaddeus already entrusted the Alpha position to his firstborn son six years ago and even passed down his Marquis title.
Since they married me, we have resided in the Red Sun Pack, the pack where I grew up, to handle the position of the Alpha. Since the Azai Clan had been demolished, the members left the pack and no one had become the Alpha ever since. Alpha King Azarius allowed me to be the Alpha when I made a request to him.
Now, I was handling the Red Sun Pack, making Father's wish come true. My mates were helping me with it.
As for Severin and I's relationship, we were already civil towards each other. At first, he was even surprised that they were my mates, he went against it, but eventually accepted it when he saw that the genuine love we had for each other just as what he had with Madeline.
But he didn't like the idea that I became his stepmother which I didn't mind because I also didn't like him to consider as my stepson, given how annoying he was when we were still married. And he was still the same thing to my eyes.
I'd say being Betrothed to My Alpha Mate's Son was such a blessing in disguise that led me to have my three mates be by my side.
The courtyard quieted, leaving me standing beneath the silver glow of the moon. My mates moved closer, the energy shifting from playful to tender.
Thaddeus came behind me first, looping his arms around my waist and resting his chin on my shoulder. "You've made us soft, sunshine," he murmured, his voice husky with warmth.
Cretheus chuckled, stepping in at my side. "Soft, perhaps. But stronger too. You've given us everything we never knew we needed, huntress." His hand brushed mine, rough but reverent.
Theodore reached for my other hand, lifting it gently as if it were the most precious thing in existence. "And every day," he whispered, eyes gleaming in the moonlight, "I still choose you, moonshine."
Emotion welled up in my chest, tightening my throat. I leaned against them, surrounded, enveloped, held. "I don't deserve you three," I whispered, though a smile curved my lips. "But I am endlessly glad you, Thaddeus, Theodore, and Cretheus, are mine."
I sounded possessive, but I didn't care. I was their wife, their mate. It was normal for me to be selfish and want all of them.
If my sisters heard my sweet words towards my mates, they would tease me until my cheeks were reddened. Just by imagining it, I could already foresee their teasing gazes and smiles. That brought somewhat chill to my spine.
Thaddeus pressed a kiss to my temple. "We're the ones who don't deserve you, sunshine."
Cretheus bent to kiss my hand. "And we will spend our lives proving it, huntress."
Theodore's lips brushed against mine in a feather-light kiss, sealing their words. "Forever, moonshine."
I glanced once more at the moon, the eternal witness to all we had been through. Once, I had stood beneath its glow, unsure if I would ever know love as pure as my parents had shared. But now, surrounded by laughter, vows, and the steady beat of three hearts entwined with mine, I knew the truth.
I had found my forever.
Thank you, Mother, for having them destined to be my mates. I didn't know what I was going to do if they weren't mine and I wasn't theirs. We managed to build our own family and had our own home. We were far from the danger I once experienced, and we, as our triplets' parents, would do anything in our power to provide their needs, love, and care.
May You guide us and protect us as always, Mother.
