Chapter 46 Chapter 46) Only two.
Kate was allowed into the side mansion after the security warriors finished questioning her and made sure that she meant no harm.
Currently, she was inside the living room, sitting on a sofa, with her hands gracefully placed on her lap as she stared around and admired the living room.
‘This is not the main living room, but it is very grand. I wonder what the main living room of the Lycan King would be like. It must be out of this world’. She wondered and tried to remain natural, as she did not want to arouse the suspicion of the pretty tall young lady who was sitting beside her.
But, she found it almost unbelievable. ‘Why are there only two of us here?’. She asked herself and found it very odd.
When she saw the news of some helping hands needed at the Lycan King's mansion, she had expected the Lycan King's mansion to be crowded with werewolves who wanted the job.
But to her greatest surprise, she was among the two werewolves who came for the job.
Making her wonder just how terrible working in the Lycan King’s mansion was.
Funny. To her, it was a hundred times better than living with her scumbag family who didn't deserve her.
“Hello dear”. She said with a smile, trying to start a conversation with the young werewolf beside her, as it was awkward how both of them were silent and stiff as if they were an inanimate object.
“Hi”. The young lady answered her. Her voice was soft, and it fitted her gentle face.
But that was not the main point. With the way she had replied, Kate was able to tell that she was the shy kind of person.
And because of that, she decided not to say more. At least, not now, as she did not want her to feel uncomfortable.
It didn't pass a minute more of silence, and a woman who was accompanied by two young Omega werewolves came to view.
She was Madam Cecilia, and was the one in charge of hiring new maids/workers into the Lycan King's mansion.
And, she was great at her job, as she had been working in the mansion for over thirty years.
Yes, thirty years.
She was there when the then Luna of the moonlight pack gave birth to Alejandro, and she had watched him grow to the man he became today.
Actually, she and Alejandro’s mother were best friends. But too bad Alejandro’s mother left the world first and left her (Cecilia) and everyone else behind.
After that tragedy struck, she should have stopped working in the mansion and focused her time on her family.
But fate had other plans for her.
She chose to stay behind and watch over little Alejandro, because her friend had pleaded with her on her deathbed to watch over her son for her, and there was no way she could bring herself to refuse her.
But, after spending all these years in the mansion, she planned on retiring soon, as she wanted to spend more time with her precious grandchildren.
After all, Alejandro was a grown up and definitely did not need her looking after him anymore.
That was enough to make her glad, but at the same time, she could not hide her disappointment most of the time, and there was a perfect explanation for that.
Alejandro had grown up to be a menace to the moonlight pack, and to the entire world. Everyone was scared of him, and no one had had the courage to cross paths with him.
How she wished that someday, someone who was stubborn enough was going to cross paths with him and make him change. She had been asking for this favor from the moon goddess for as long as she could count.
She just hoped that her wish was going to be fulfilled before she retires and leaves the mansion.
Upon seeing Madam Cecilia, both Kate and the young werewolf named Lisa, rose from the sofa.
“Ha. I see”. Cecilia shook her head and almost laughed because of what she was seeing.
She had expected five werewolves or more to be present for the interview despite knowing the fears they must have in their hearts for working in the Lycan King’s mansion.
But it turned out that her expectations were cut short.
Oh well, what did she expect?
After a maidservant was brutally killed by the Lycan King, fear beyond one's imagination has been planted in the hearts of everyone in the mansion, with some planning to escape, combined with those who had already escaped but were caught.
“Greetings, ma’am”.
“Greetings, ma’am”. Kate followed Lisa’s lead and referred to Cecilia as ‘Ma’am’.
It was hilarious that she was a second away from calling Cecilia ‘lady’, before she realized the mistake she almost made.
Has she forgotten that werewolves were a hundred times different from humans?
A 70 year old werewolf looked the same as an early thirties human.
Did she seriously forget about that?
Tsk. Living with humans for such a long time was enough to make her get confused. ‘I must finish my plan before those bastards in Paradise City figure out that I am a werewolf. Werewolves technically start aging very slowly when they reach 27 years old. So, I have 3 years left before I start aging very slowly’. She thought. Though, another thought hit her hard in the head and came into view in her mind.
‘Will it be the same for me? I am a half werewolf, after all. Ha. How I wish I was a full werewolf’. She thought to herself and felt it was unfair.
“Come with me, ladies”. Cecilia said, before she turned and left the living room.
Her two assistants (the Omega werewolves) went after her, thus leaving Kate and Lisa behind. But after exchanging glances at themselves, they left the living room also.
