Chapter 21 A Lie 1

Chapter 21 A Lie 1
Luciver’s pov

“What have I done, Luciver?” I asked myself in so much distress. I couldn't get the incident out of my head. I had almost killed Nadia - my mate. I felt like the most horrible person in the whole wide world.

I wish I could turn back the hands of time. “She must hate me so much,” I thought to myself. “What the heck was I even thinking? Now she thinks I'm evil and wicked, she can't even stand me, her eyes trembling in fear anytime she sees me,” I panicked.

Images of the scene I had hurt her flashed uncontrollably. “She would have died,” I said as my widened, pale eyes struggled for a blink. I couldn't stop thinking about how much of a bad person I was. I did remember how i spinned her up and down, my clutches almost ended her. “Was I hypnotised or something?” I asked myself as I tried to make sense out of it all. Well, my trials were all abortive.

“Arghhhhhhhh!!!” I exclaimed as I pushed down the bookshelf in the office, it fell against the fancy table and it crashed, all together with the cups and plates on it. Looking at the destruction I had created, I drowned in more frustration. It was weighing down that I struggled to walk properly. I was drunk in my own misery.

“No…something must be done. I must do something..everything is out of my control.
But I must find a way out. Steve!!” I called out to one of the guards who didn't respond. I called out again. I wasn't bothered about him seeing the disaster I had made in my room. “I am a bad boss afterall,” I whispered in genuine frustration.

Now my servant was as bad as I was. I had called a lot of times and he didn't show up. I was weirdly drained from the whole havoc so I moved from my chair to get a bottle of wine, just to cool down my burning throat and soul.

“Alpha,” a deep masculine voice called. I managed to turn my weak body from the wine bar to the direction which the voice came from. It was Steve's. The tall, well-built man stood in front of me, his head facing the ground. “Uh-huh, you are slowly changing into a non-challant fellow,” I began, as I poured the wine into the only glass lefy in the office.

He slowly looked up to me, his fierce face slowly melted into a confused one. “Yesss…where were you when I called? Or do you think I'm not worthy of your service, you think I deserve to die..huhhh?” I asked very quietly after I had taken a sip. Steve stood there, unshaken and calm. “I was simply performing other tasks, Alpha,” he replied softly, almost inaudible.

“How dare you talk back? Urghhhh.. you all are ingrates!!!” I shouted as I drank the whole liquid at once. He didn't look at me afterwards. I saw that he was beginning to get scared. “Maybe scared of being killed,” I thought. My fierce eyes gradually coming back to it's faint nature for the past few days.

“Go get me…Olivia,” I said very calmly. He quickly dashed out of the room without saying a word but I knew he was going to fulfill the assignment. Steve was one of my most loyal guard, I always knew that he understood me to an extent. But now, I felt like I had hurt him, too. “He really thinks I'm a bad person too huh,” I said as I roughly sat back on my seat.

“Yes sir, you sent for me,” Olivia, the elegant and calm lady that was put in charge of taking care of Naida stepped in.
I nodded in agreement. “Good day, my Lord,” she said again. I stayed silent for a while but her tensed expressions had to make me speak up. She was scared, I knew. They always misunderstood me.

“Or maybe it was because she saw the terrible stuff that transpired between Naida and I,” I thought. “How is…Naida?” I hesitated to speak with my eyes fixed on the floor. It slowly moved up to the young lady in front of me, who wasn't responding.
She knew I needed an answer but she hesitated to speak.

She's…very well, sir..I mean, she's fine. Sir,” she finally spitted even though she stuttered. I looked at her in suspicion but she wouldn't know because she hardly looked up. Soon, Olivia was walking towards the door. “I never said I was done speaking so where does she think she's going to?” I asked. I could sense a progressive annoyance as well as a transfer of aggression erupting from within.

“Olivia,” I managed to call out calmly. She froze in fear, I was so confused at her reactions. “She is simply scared of me,” I said to myself. That was not what I wanted for myself but I was gradually beginning to think that it was bound to happen, maybe that was my fate.

“Make sure she's safe and okay. You must make sure nothing happens to her…I don't want anything to happen…to..to her. You must do everything possible to make sure she's safe and happy. If she needs anything…anything at all, don't fail to let me know about it. Is that okay?” I said.

She simply nodded without looking at me but waited for my permission for her to leave. I signalled her to and she was out from my office in a second. “It is so difficult to get that's going on the minds of people, I wish I had that power and not the one…I'll often use to kill or threaten people's life,” I said to myself in despair.

This quickly reminded me of how much I have hurt Naida in the past. I was ready t make things right, better. “Infact, I should go see her soon,” I said as my face brightened but it changed back because I know she wouldn't want to see me. Maybe “I should just let her be for now. Mmmhhh, that's the least I can do-Let her be,” I thought to myself.
