Chapter 18 Ex plotting.
NOELLE

“Carter, have you gone mad? No, I mean didn't you want a divorce? I finally agree to it and you're acting like you don't want to let go?" I rubbed my forehead softly as I watched my husband grovel at my feet, his eyes red with tears.

If it were in the past, perhaps, I should have forgiven him just by staring at that look on his face.

But! I had one solid rule. I could never forgive someone who betrayed me.

“Aren’t you pregnant for me? Why do we have to separate? Baby, there might be some misunderstanding between us so let's just talk it out.”

Through Tasha, I had found out that all night I had been out with Dominic, Carter had tracked down my personal office and had been yelling out here all night.

“Misunderstanding? Yet you wrote a whole article?" Tasha suddenly chirped in, poking her head in through the doorway.

“What article?" My brows creased as Tasha walked in placing a tab in front of me.

It was a post by an anonymous user.

My Wife Ended Our Baby's Life Without My Consent.

Dear heavens, it is that post. The one I had seen when we were at the hospital.

"I can understand asking for forgiveness but what I don't understand is why you had to make this post." I stared at him in disbelief realizing once again that the man I had trusted for so many years was the devil himself.

How didn't I notice? I had actually shared a bed with a monster!

"I figured that was the only way I could get through to you. And didn't it work? But none of these matters. As long as you're willing to let bygones be bygones, I'll make a clarification post as soon as possible." I ran my hands through my hair as I glared at him, anger surging through my veins.

"And if I refuse to put the past behind me..." I trailed off, locking eyes with him, my head tilted to the side.

"Then don't blame me for anything you see on the news." His condescending tone infuriated the heck out of me and probably for the fifth time that night, I felt like punching his arrogant mouth.

"Carter, are you threatening me?" I slowly asked, folding my arms together, as I leaned in towards him.

"Of course not, you've always been sensible. I know you'll definitely make the right choice." He smiled.

What the hell is running through this man's head all day? Did he really think I was still the same obedient housewife, that would listen to all he say, and make his words law?

That woman was dead! A 2.0 version was now in play.

"You're right about one thing, Carter. I will definitely make the right choice. For myself and for the future. And right now? My future is better off without you." he opened his mouth to say something and I caught him off immediately, raising my fingers in a stop motion.

"This would be the last time I say this to you. You don't deserve my forgiveness. Stop being so pathetic, and sign the divorce agreement already!"

I pushed the tablet away from me, tapping my fingers repeatedly on the desk I was leaning on.

"Aren't you leaving yet? The next time you come to find me, forget divorce, I will file a restraining order against you."

His eyes widened as he stood to his feet abruptly, pointing his fingers at my face.

"You must be so proud now, seeing as I'm begging for your forgiveness and all. You are the one who is unable to give birth to a child." He suddenly snapped and I raised my brows, my eyes lingering on his face.

I froze and for a moment, I couldn't believe that those words just came out of his mouth.

"Carter." I called out slowly, "That sounds lot like you're shaming me for being unable to conceive a child. " My jaw tightened as my grip on my pen became firmer.

All of this happened because of me and he had the nerve up the one thing that hurt me the most!

"It seems like you're forgetting in a hurry, just why I can't give birth." my voice suddenly turned hoarse, cracking towards the end of the sentence.

"Noelle." His face was a mixture of regret and panic as he bit on his lips.

"You know I didn't mean to say that." I banged my hand on the table and Carter stepped back in fright.

"No! You meant every word that just came out of your mouth. I lost my chance of motherhood and you use it to shame me when it was all your freaking fault." I screamed, my eyes darting to the vase sitting on the table. I didn't give myself a chance to think, I grabbed it and threw it at him.

"Boss." Tasha called out sharply, grabbing my hands immediately as she pressed my shoulders to calm me down.

"Mr Carter, it's high time you leave. Your presence is doing more harm than good." took heavy breath trying to stabilize myself, my hands trembling.

At this moment, all I wanted to do was kill Carter myself.

He is an animal and he didn't deserve to be called a human being.

"Fine. I'll leave for now. Take care of her for me." Tasha rolled her eyes as he began walking out of the office.

"We also sincerely hope that the next time we send the divorce agreement, you just attach your signature to it."
