Chapter 16
Megan POV
I hugged the velvet pillow next to me, hoping I could find warmness. My eyes were red and puffy from nonstop crying, my heart smashed into pieces.
I almost had sex with him, I was ready to give my self away. I wasn't pure but sex isn't just sex for me, it's a mental thing.
I barely escaped being used.
I am embarrassed, Higgins will spread this around and I guess I let everyone down who voted against her, but most importantly I let my self down, Oh God, I was going to sleep with my ex-best friend ex-fiancée, I broke the girl code.
"I am so stupid," I whispered aloud "He even said it earlier and still I overlooked it."
'Not because two people have sex together means they are in a relationship'
But I allowed myself to fall into his trap and if it wasn't for her, he would have succeeded, then he would toss me aside. I can't believe I fell for the 'I like you' card, and to stand there watching him devouring her made me angry. I wanted to hurt her, to hurt them both.
I don't care what secrets she has about him, tonight I felt betrayed, betrayed by someone I unexpectedly develop feelings for.
I guess my short journey at G.L.O.S.H has come to an end, I will have my resignation letter dropped off, Fuck them and their one-year service policy. Even if it means dragging them to court, I will. My reputation is at a risk and I'll do anything to protect what's left of it.
What hurt me the most, is that I know he must have heard my footsteps, running away, and he didn't even come to see how I was doing. Probably he was down there, still fucking her. To be honest with myself, I don't know why I was upset, it's not he is my boyfriend or anything, he is my boss, and this is just a petty crush.
Taking a deep, I rolled over on my back staring into the ceiling, Thinking about Anthony.
"Why didn't he come after me?" I asked myself.
Maybe I should go talk to him, hear his side to all of this.
Slowly I slid out of bed, slipping on a size t-shirt I saw in the closet, I pressed my ear against the door listening for any evidence of him being downstairs with her, but it was oddly quiet or maybe I wanted to get closer.
I tiptoed out of the bedroom, creeping next to the one he would have slept in tonight, but I saw no signs of the lamplight shining through the corners of the door, he wasn't here.
At the top of the staircase, I stood, staring down at the meal Anthony made me, well what's left of it.
Sashane was a bitch and I am not going to roll over and play dead, if it's a fight she wants, then I will bring it to her.
I pranced down the wooden steps, looking around at the mess she caused and also looking for Anthony, did he...did she leave, and he ran after her?
Well, it didn't matter, this place was a mess and I felt like doing a little stress cleaning. I switched on the lights downstairs, searching the kitchen for a bag or a box I could use to pack away the broken plates.
"I guess this will have to do," I said to myself, staring down at a large zip lock bag I found.
I went over to the table, carefully picking up the damaged dishes.
I saw something, documents, facing down under the table, I stretched for it, but it was soaked in wine.
"The contract," I whispered.
I must have left it on the table before Anthony and I went sightseeing, my insides twisted with anxiety, God I was going to lose my job, even though a couple of minutes ago, I didn't give a shit if I did.
How am I going to explain this to him? It was Sashane fault of course but it was my silly mistake, I should have left it here.
Marching back into the kitchen, I gently rest the drenched papers on the counter.
How can I fix this?
"Maybe I could microwave it."
The heat can absorb the water, I can set it to one minute or less, and I'll just have to worry about the wine stains later.
I powered on the microwave, placed the contract inside, and closed it.
"Let's try...one minute", I mumbled as I punched in the digits.
Pouring myself a glass of water, I watched the contract through its transparent door.
"Anthony, where are you? Why did you leave me all alone here?" I muttered.
I wondered what would we be doing right now if Higgins didn't interfere earlier.
I closed my eyes, reminiscing about his cock, and the way he pounded into Higgins from behind that day on his desk, his muscular torso, the natural creasing of his lips, his...
What is that smell?
I opened my eyes, sniffing the air, "Oh God, the contract!"
It was on fire. Smoke was flowing from the sides and I didn't know what to do.
I yanked the electric cord from the socket, as I choked on smoke.
"I... I can't breathe," I clasp my hand around my throat, gasping for air.
I began to feel light-headed. I was getting weaker and weaker. I staggered towards the door, grabbing hold of the doorknob, swinging it open.
Soon as I was outside, I took a deep breath, wheezing in the air.
Wow, the heavens... it's beautiful, call me bizarre but is it me, or does the stars in Paris shines brighter than the ones back home.
I chuckle inwardly at how stupid I sound,
"They are the same stars, but foreign countries make you appreciate them more."
I approached the gates, not caring about my bare feet on the cold, wet walkway, it was indeed glamorous, here I am doing my very own star gazing and I wished Anthony were here to enjoy it with me.
Thinking of Anthony, I remember, this house was in the middle of now where and I better get back inside.
I turned around, heading back towards the house, hoping the smoke has cleared out,
"That was the stupidest thing I've..."
I felt a cold hand gripping around my neck, and another forcing a piece of cloth over my mouth and nose, I tried to scream and fight back, but this person was stronger, much stronger, there was no hope, so I gave in to it, my eyes became heavy, and in no time, I was enclosed by darkness.
