Epilogue
Epilogue
The bells call to me.
Their chimes hum through the crisp morning air, stretching beyond the chapel walls, beyond the veil between this world and the place where I remain. They ring for celebration, for love, for the promise of forever.
I watch from where time does not bind me, where memory is my only tether.
Camille stands at the altar, radiant in white, her fingers trembling only slightly as she reaches for Lucas’s hand. He looks at her the way he always should have—the way someone looks when they finally understand what home means.
Their vows drift through the air, weaving a tapestry of love and devotion. The past has weathered them, has broken them, has reforged them in ways they never expected. And yet, here they are, promising something new, something whole.
Tessa sits near the front, her eyes glistening, her lips parted just slightly as she watches. I know what she’s thinking. That the world is moving forward, that happiness still blooms despite loss. That love, in all its fragile, aching beauty, is worth every scar.
Lucas lifts Camille’s hand to his lips, sealing his vow with a kiss. The crowd erupts in applause, laughter spilling into the church like sunlight.
I smile.
Because love remains.
Even after everything, love remains.

Tessa cradled Jackson in her arms, his tiny fingers curling against the fabric of her dress. The soft hum of the ceremony lingered in the air, the bells still echoing faintly in the distance.
Ash leaned close, his gaze flickering between her and the child nestled against her chest. “You look good holding him,” he murmured, voice just low enough to send a shiver down her spine.
She smirked, adjusting her grip on Jackson as he let out a sleepy sigh. “Are you trying to tell me something, Ash?”
His lips quirked, that teasing glint ever-present in his eyes. “Just wondering… do you think a vampire and a human could make a baby?”
Tessa’s laugh was soft, warm, laced with something deeper. “You’re getting ahead of yourself.”
Ash tilted his head, feigning innocence. “Am I? Or am I just planning for our future?”
She rolled her eyes but didn’t pull away. Instead, she shifted Jackson slightly, letting Ash’s fingers brush over his tiny hand. The weight of the moment settled between them—not just lighthearted banter, but something real. A possibility.
Jax watched from where memory lived, smiling to himself.
Love remained.
And perhaps, in the spaces between fate and choice, new beginnings did too.
\---
The church bells fade, their echoes stretching beyond the veil.
Jax exhales, watching his friends celebrate, their lives unfolding without him. But that’s okay.
Because he isn’t alone.
Wyatt nudges him. “You ready to get out of here, or are you just gonna stand there all dramatic?”
Cassie tugs at Jax’s sleeve. “Jax, come on! We gotta go.”
He looks down, smiling. “You in a rush, kid?”
She nods, very serious. “Uh-huh. We have things to do.”
Wyatt grins. “Like what?”
Cassie puffs out her chest. “Important things.”
Jax chuckles, ruffling her hair. “Guess we better get going, then.”
Cassie nods like a commander leading troops. “Yep. But first, ice cream.”
Wyatt scoffs. “That’s your priority?”
Cassie gasps. “Ice cream is always the priority.”
Jax and Wyatt exchange a look—Wyatt shrugs. “She’s got a point.”
Cassie tugs their hands, already marching forward. “Let’s goooo!”
And just like that, the three of them walk away, laughter trailing behind them, stepping into whatever comes next.
Love remains.
Friendship remains.
And as they disappear beyond the veil, Jax smiles.
Because the story isn’t really over.
Not yet.
Not ever.
