Chapter 544 Special Blood Type
Olivia had never heard Daniel mention this before.
She knew Daniel had a unique background, but she didn't know his true identity.
Olivia stood there, stunned. Seeing her expression, Joseph realized she didn't know about Daniel's blood type and patiently explained.
"Daniel's got a P1 blood type, which is super rare. If he starts bleeding heavily, it could be really dangerous."
A chill ran through Olivia's body. Daniel knew his blood type was rare, yet he still shielded her from the shards of glass.
Olivia's voice trembled. "Is that true?"
Joseph sighed, "Mrs. Wilson, I have no reason to lie to you."
After he said this, Olivia remained silent for a long time.
As a medical student, she understood blood types better than most people.
Unlike the common ABO and RH blood types, the P blood type is even rarer, divided into P1, P2, P1K, P2K, and P.
These blood types have very limited reserves, and hospitals typically didn't stock them.
But they were at a military hospital, so Olivia clung to a sliver of hope and asked Joseph.
"There's backup blood in the blood bank for him, right?"
Joseph looked worried. "Mr. Wilson's identity is special, so there are reserves, but the quantity is very limited. I'm not sure if it's enough."
Olivia knew that stored blood lost its viability over time. Given the amount of blood Daniel had lost, the surgery would require a significant supply of fresh blood. If the blood supply ran out, he would be in grave danger.
Olivia stared at the light above the operating room door, silently praying.
As long as Daniel could be safe, she was willing to endure any pain in his place.
"But, don't worry. Even if the reserves aren't enough, we have a mobile blood bank..."
The sentence was cut off as the hospital room door swung open. A doctor in surgical scrubs stepped out, looking anxiously at Joseph. "We're critically low on blood. The reserves we have left aren't enough. Has Maggie arrived yet?"
Though Maggie was clearly a woman's name, Olivia didn't focus on that detail. Her heart felt like it was being squeezed in a vise, making it hard to breathe.
If they couldn't find compatible blood soon, Daniel wouldn't make it.
Someone nearby responded with obvious concern. "Ms. Jade is usually stationed at the military base, but she's out on assignment today. We've notified her, but she won't be able to get back right away."
Just as he finished speaking, the stairwell door burst open with a bang. A woman with a neat, no-nonsense appearance strode purposefully toward them.
She wore camouflage pants and had short, neatly trimmed hair, about the same length as Olivia's.
Maggie walked briskly to the ward door, looking anxious. "He's always been careful with his health. How did he get so badly injured?"
No one could answer her question. Maggie quickly moved to the doctor's side and rolled up her sleeves. "Enough talk; let's draw the blood."
Olivia finally understood what Joseph meant by a mobile blood bank.
It wasn't a machine or a vehicle; it was this woman who had just arrived.
Olivia could see the genuine concern in the woman's eyes. She truly cared about Daniel's well-being.
And Olivia sensed that their relationship was more than just comrades.
Joseph watched Maggie follow the doctor into the blood draw room and finally breathed a sigh of relief. "Thank goodness she got here in time. Otherwise, Mr. Wilson would have been in real trouble."
Olivia didn't ask about their relationship, and Joseph, realizing she was still standing there, explained, "Ms. Jade has the same blood type as Mr. Wilson. During previous missions, when Mr. Wilson was injured, it was Ms. Jade who provided the blood."
Olivia didn't feel jealous; instead, a faint pain arose in her heart.
According to Joseph, Daniel had been injured many times on missions.
But in all their years together, Daniel had never shown any vulnerability. Even when he was hurt, he only sought a hug.
Olivia now realized a frightening truth: she didn't really know Daniel.
Beyond his name and his influence in the business world, she knew nothing about his other actions and life.
She never asked, and Daniel never volunteered the information.
After years of marriage, she knew less about him than an outsider.
A wave of guilt washed over Olivia, and a sharp pain shot through her arm. She stubbornly stood her ground, eyes fixed on the sign above the ward door.
Blood dripped from her arm, pooling on the hospital's white floor.
Doctors hurried past, seemingly oblivious to her, busy with their tasks.
This surgery must be very difficult.
Olivia raised her arm, seeing a piece of glass embedded in it. She didn't feel the pain; instead, sadness welled up inside her.
Her injury was nothing compared to Daniel's. What was this pain in comparison?
"Olivia, your arm is injured?"
No one had paid attention to Olivia until Joseph noticed something was wrong and quickly called for a doctor.
But all the military doctors were occupied, and the nurses on duty said they had no time.
Their eyes were filled with disdain, as if Olivia were a criminal.
Olivia lowered her gaze. To them, Daniel was like a savior, and she had made their revered figure stoop, just for her.
It was natural for them to dislike her.
Joseph searched the hospital for someone willing to treat Olivia, but no one would. Finally, he borrowed a medical kit and brought Olivia to the waiting area.
"Olivia, I know a bit about medicine. Let me bandage you up."
Olivia shook her head. "I probably know more than you. I'll do it myself."
Being allergic to anesthetics, Olivia's pain receptors were more sensitive than others.
She used tweezers to carefully remove the glass shards from her wound, gritting her teeth the entire time without making a sound.
Joseph winced just watching, but Olivia didn't utter a word.
After cleaning and disinfecting the wound, Olivia held a roll of gauze and looked at Joseph. "Help me wrap this up and tie a simple knot."
