Chapter 59 THE TRUTH UNRAVELED
Chapter 59 THE TRUTH UNRAVELED
Chapter 59
Christian:
I wasn’t even leaving my home; I headed straight to the staff quarters. The last time I went there was months ago. I wasn’t the boss that would want to know what they were doing every time; I was too busy for that. But whenever I did, they knew I meant business.
“Good day, boss, it’s great to…”
“Move out of the way.” I responded to the staff who tried exchanging pleasantries. I’m not cut out for that right now.
I walked down the hallway, but I couldn’t spot the person I was looking for.
“Do you need something, sir?” Another staff member politely asked, and I shot him a death glare, which made him move backwards in panic.
“As a matter of fact, I do.” I stated.
“Oh...alright, boss.” He stuttered.
“Philip. Where is his room?” I questioned.
“Room seventeen.” He pointed out with shaky fingers, and I revealed a sinister smile.
“You’ve been very helpful. You may go.” I turned to the room he had pointed out, and I kicked it open.
Philip had a toothbrush in his mouth as he stared wide-eyed at me, visibly scared.
“You never thought you’d get bursted as swiftly as this, huh?” I remarked, and his fingers began to tremble.
“What? Scared now? Oh, you shouldn’t be. After all, you knew the consequences of your actions before you decided to do them.” I added.
“It isn’t what it looks like, boss.” He managed.
“So, tell me. Describe the perfect picture to me if the one I’m seeing right now is wrong.” I instructed, but he just stared at me, and my eyes darkened.
“I swear I’m going to shove that toothbrush down your throat if you don’t start talking.” I threatened.
He immediately tossed the toothbrush to the bed, looking confused.
“Boss, please. “It’s not going to happen again.” He suddenly began to plead.
“What are you apologising about?” I questioned it, but he fell on his knees and began to tug at my pants.
“It wasn’t intentional, sir; I was forced.” He cried, and at that moment, I just snapped.
I picked him up by his collar, and without warning, my fist connected with his cheek. It immediately reddened, and tears welled up in his eyelids.
“Now, start talking because there’s a lot more where that came from.” I threatened further, but he only let out some silent whimpers in pain.
“Start talking, Philip! I know you did it. Say the truth now!”
“It was Astrid.” He finally revealed.
“Oh really? So this was all part of your plan? To make me believe you and trust you enough as a part of the team?” I questioned, and he shook his head in negation.
“Not at all, boss. I’ll explain everything. But please, let go of my neck; I can barely breathe.” He pleaded, and I immediately let go of him; it was so fast that he lost his balance and fell hard on the floor.
“Get up, now!” I instructed, 'I didn’t care if he was hurt.'
With a hand on his waist and a pain-filled grimace on his face, he finally lifted himself up into a kneeling position.
“Boss, I never wanted to do it. Astrid and I had always hated each other. The recording I played to you then was a genuine one. I turned her down and threatened to let you know, but she returned the next day with terrible news. She has my sister and daughter in her custody.” He revealed it, and I raised a brow at him.
“Why?” I questioned.
“To force me into doing her bidding. I never wanted to do it, but I had no choice. She made me do a video call with them where she told them I was the reason for their abduction. Everything I do is for them; I just couldn’t let anything happen to them. I…”
“So, you agreed to it.” I stated, and he slowly nodded.
“Oh, you dumb motherfucker. I actually thought you were smart, which is weird because I always make good decisions. Okay, I could understand the fact that you had to accept it at that point; that’s still dumb, but I’m trying to be realistic right now. What happened to coming to me about it? Why couldn’t you tell me?” I questioned, and he looked away.
“I was only trying to be careful. Any silly mistakes could cost the life of my child and my sister. I’m sorry.” He pleaded.
“Well said. Now, do you know that I am worse than Astrid?” I questioned, and he suddenly looked up at me.
“What do you mean by that, boss?” He asked, his voice barely above a whisper.
“Astrid wouldn’t carry out those actions; she’s got the heart of a chicken. But I would. And I could kill them right in front of you while you just stare helplessly. Better still, I could make you kill yourself before I kill you.” I said coldly, and he trembled again.
“How did you do it?” I added.
“Do what, boss?” He asked.
“Stop playing dumb with me!” I grabbed him by his collar again. “How did you get those private photos of her? They were taken in the bedroom, and you weren’t there, or were you? Don’t tell me you’ve been sneaking around her bedroom.” I stated, and he immediately shook his head.
“No boss, not at all. I wasn’t. It’s a camera. It’s been installed there. I don’t see anything. Astrid has full access to it; she controls it from where she is. My only job was the installation.” He confessed.
“You know? I’d love to let you go, but I am very brutal, and your actions hurt people close to me, so you’re going to have to bear the consequences.” With that, I gave him another punch.
I held him by his collar and was just about to drag him out of the bedroom when I saw Celeste standing at the door, staring blankly at me. My heart sank. How long had she been standing there?
“Yeah, it’s nothing, huh? "It’s not a big deal at all, I see." She stated.
