The next day when Lydia showed up for work, her face was glowing with excitement.
As a result, the stories circulating in the company about her and Lambert gained further validation.
For a while, many female employees looked at her with envy in their eyes.
Especially the receptionist who had previously met Lambert, she proudly boasted to her gossiping colleagues, “See, I told you he was Lydia’s boyfriend! Didn’t you see how intimate they were when they left together yesterday? And he’s so handsome, so wealthy! How can Mr. Andrew even compare?!”
Cough!
One sharp–eyed female employee noticed Andrew not far away and quickly tried to warn the receptionist with a wink, but she was too carried away, not realizing that the subject of her gossip was standing right
behind her!
“That’s the truth, not to mention anything else, just look at that face, Mr. Andrew can’t hold a candle to
him!”
As Andrew approached, the female employee who had been warned earlier quickly bowed and greeted, ”
Mr. Andrew!”
The receptionist stiffened upon hearing Andrew’s footsteps, awkwardly turning around to greet, “M–Mr…
Mr. Andrew, hello!”
Andrew responded with a nod, expressionless, as he walked past them.
Once he was out of earshot, the receptionist patted her chest in relief, “That scared me!”
The nearby female employee chuckled, giving her a knowing look. “You deserve it! Who told you to gossip behind people’s backs?”
The receptionist pursed her lips without responding, inwardly grumbling.
She didn’t gossip, she only spoke the truth!
Andrew, who had heard those gossips, felt a mix of emotions. The courage he had mustered earlier seemed to dissipate somewhat.
He unconsciously tightened the concert tickets in his hand, hesitating as he hovered outside Lydia’s office, feeling increasingly nervous!
Those people were right, in many aspects, his qualifications didn’t match up to Lambert’s wealth.
But his sincere feelings for Lydia were no less than anyone else’s!

Besides, Lydia wasn’t a materialistic girl. Perhaps, he still had a chance!
With that thought, Andrew tallied himself once more. Taking a deep breath, he knocked on Lydia’s office
door.
“Come in!”
The clear voice carried a hint of sweetness, indicating the speaker’s good mood. Andrew pushed the door open to find Lydia eamestly engrossed in revising design drafts.
“Lydia.”
“Andrew? What’s up?” Lydia’s head briefly lifted before quickly returning to her work.
She had a lot to finish and couldn’t afford to waste time!
Andrew pressed his lips together. “I have something to tell you.”
Sensing his serious tone, Lydia set aside her work, a hint of concern in her voice. “What is it? Andrew,
just say it!”
“Well, a friend of mine bought two tickets to a concert but can’t make it at the last minute. He sold me the tickets, but I’m alone. I don’t need both tickets. I was wondering if you’re interested. It’d be a waste to let
them go to waste anyway!”
“A concert? Whose concert?”
“Ted Scott.”
“What?!” Lydia suddenly stood up from her chair, snatching one of the tickets from Andrew’s hand.
Muttering to herself, “It’s my idol’s! Andrew, you’re really giving away a treasure! Do you know how hard it is to get these tickets? I’ve been trying to buy them online for days!”
Andrew felt relieved internally, softening his expression. “So, you’re going?”
“Of course! It’s a rare opportunity! I’ve liked him for years! Thank you so much, Andrew. How much are these tickets? I’ll pay you back later!”
Seeing Lydia’s excitement, Andrew knew he had made the right call.
What’s more fortunate was that Lydia’s hobbies hadn’t changed over the years. The idol she had admired since her student days was still her idol now.
Maybe, with such steadfast devotion, once Lydia fell for someone, it would be for a long time!
“No need. It’s just a ticket. It’s either a friend’s leftover or didn’t cost much. Consider it my treat!”
“How can I accept that?” Lydia scratched her head, feeling embarrassed.

“Why be so polite with me? It’s just a ticket.”
After looking at the ticket she had been longing for, Lydia couldn’t bring herself to let go.
It was a concert she had been waiting for years. As a die–hard fan, this day had been long overdue.
Seeing Lydia take the ticket, Andrew breathed a sigh of relief internally. “Alright, I’ll pick you up on time today. We’d better get in early, or we might get stuck outside with all the other fans.”
After hesitating for a moment, Lydia agreed. But after Andrew left, she immediately called Lambert.
When Lambert answered the phone, his slightly cold voice came through, “Lydia?”
“Um, I might be coming back late today…”
“How late?” Lambert’s voice turned colder, losing the initial calmness.
Clearly, he wasn’t pleased with Lydia’s sudden announcement.
Feeling somewhat guilty, Lydia knew she was in the wrong.
Even if Lambert was unhappy, it was understandable. But she really didn’t want to miss this chance to get up close with her idol!
“It might be around one or two in the morning!”
“That late?” Lambert frowned. Safety was only a secondary concern; the most important thing was, where
was she going so late at night?
After hesitating for a moment, Lydia decided to tell the truth.
She couldn’t come up with lies to Lambert, after all!
“It’s just… um, my idol is having a concert tonight. I managed to get a ticket, so I want to go. Can you take care of Wythe for me?”
“Idol? The singer from before?” Lambert’s face darkened even more.
How obsessed was Lydia with that idol to go to a concert at such a late hour?
Lydia pleaded over the phone, “Please, let me go. I really like his songs.”
There was silence on the other end of the line for a long time before Lambert finally spoke, “It’s too late!
It’s not safe!”
Lydia felt a pang of guilt, feeling even more ashamed.
She had been worried that Lambert wouldn’t allow her to go, but it turned out Lambert was only concerned about her safety.

“Safety won’t be a problem. Andrew and I are going together. I’ll ask him to bring me back, so let’s settle it
like this!”
Lydia hung up before waiting for Lambert’s consent!
Hearing the busy tone on the other end, Lambert’s face turned even darker, making his assistant, who
had been with him for years, feel a bit scared.
Who had angered the boss? The assistant silently prayed for that person!
