Believed 59

Lydia and Andrew sat facing each other in a nearby restaurant near Lydia’s company. They each ordered a simple meal and ate quietly.

Andrew was quite content. These days, being able to work and eat together with the person he liked, discussing their favorite designs, made him feel like this was the happiest life he could have.

“Lydia, slow down your eating. Eating too quickly isn’t good for your stomach,” Andrew reminded her.

Lydia looked up and gave Andrew a smile. “I know, Andrew. You always care so much. In the future, you’ll

definitely be a perfect boyfriend!”

Andrew’s heart skipped a beat, his mouth dry. Suddenly, he wanted to ask her if she would give him a

chance to take care of her for the rest of her life.

“Lydia…”

Ring…

Lydia’s phone interrupted Andrew’s almost–confession, and it also made him retreat back into his shell

of courage.

He decided to wait a bit longer.

Maybe when Lydia got used to having him around, she would notice his feelings. He had waited for so many years; a few more days wouldn’t matter.

Embarrassed, Lydia answered the call. “Sorry, I need to take this call.” 1

Andrew lowered his gaze. “It’s okay.”

Lydia smiled at him apologetically and then glanced at the caller ID. She suddenly felt nervous for no

reason. Why was she suddenly feeling so anxious? She hadn’t done anything wrong! 1

Lydia…”

The voice on the other end of the line was as sexy and deep as ever, tinged with a hint of disappointment, causing Lydia’s heart to clench. Her tone involuntarily softened.

“What’s wrong?”

“I’m downstairs at your company.

“Huh? Why are you here?”

“Yesterday, seeing how tired you were, I wanted to bring you some good food to replenish your energy. I specially had Lennon deliver takeout for me. But then I heard you were out for dinner with someone

named Andrew… Hmm?”

Lydia’s gaze flickered and glanced at Andrew’s quiet face. Feeling awkward, she laughed awkwardly. ” Haha, it wasn’t intentional. Besides, you didn’t tell me…”

“Can’t I give you a surprise?”

Lambert’s tone was casual, but Lydia could hear the disappointment in his voice. For a moment, she

didn’t know how to respond.

“Sigh… Forget it. Enjoy your meal. I’m leaving.”

That soft sigh brushed against Lydia’s heart like a feather, making her anxious. “Wait a moment, I’ll be

right over. I’ll have dinner with you. Just wait a little while longer, okay? I’ll be quick, just five minutes! I

promise to appear in front of you!”

On the other end of the phone, Lambert finally smirked. “Good! I’ll wait for you! Which floor is your office

on?”

“The second floor. Just go straight there, the door’s not closed!”

“Got it.”

Meanwhile, Lambert hung up the phone, satisfied, and went back upstairs with the lunch box. In the

restaurant, Lydia apologized to Andrew.

“I’m really sorry, Andrew. I have something urgent to attend to at the office. How about I treat you to this

meal?”

Andrew frowned slightly. “But you haven’t eaten much yet. No matter how important things are, shouldn’t you finish your meal first?”

“But it really is urgent, Andrew. Let’s not chat anymore. I’ll leave now, okay?” Lydia hurriedly left the restaurant, completely unaware that Andrew’s expression had turned as dark as thunder.

Even though Lydia hadn’t explained clearly, he had heard a man’s voice on the other end of the call!

Did another rival suddenly appear when he wasn’t looking?

Andrew put down his chopsticks, suddenly losing his appetite. But considering that he had to return to

SAC company later, he couldn’t follow Lydia back now.

Forget it. He would ask her about it during the meeting in the afternoon!

Lydia ran all the way to the company’s entrance before stopping, panting slightly.

She then straightened her clothes and took the elevator up to the second floor.

With the office door slightly ajar, Lydia pushed it open and collided with someone’s arms. Looking up, she met Lambert’s eyes with a half–smile. “Are you trying to hug me?”

Blushing, Lydia quickly pushed him away. It was lunchtime, and although it was unlikely anyone would come here, this was still a workplace.

Being seen in such a situation wouldn’t be good!

A beautifully crafted food box sat on her desk, adorned with the golden inscription “Eleganza.”

Lydia’s eyes lit up with her inner foodie instincts, especially since she hadn’t had a chance to eat with

Andrew earlier.

Lydia pulled Lambert to sit beside her at the table and opened the food box. The aroma of the soup

instantly filled the office, making Lydia even hungrier.

“What’s this?”

“Eleganza’s signature dish.”

“Wow! Looks amazing!” Without much thought, Lydia scooped up the soup and looked at the small portion left. She then warned Lambert, “No snatching from me!”

“Sure, it’s all yours!” Lambert said, adding silently in his mind, I’ll just enjoy watching you.

After drinking half a bowl of soup, Lydia finally asked, “Aren’t you going to eat?”

Lambert looked at her with deep eyes. “No.”

Feeling embarrassed, Lydia put down the spoon. “Then, would you like the rest?”

Lambert reached out and hooked his arm around Lydia’s neck, his lips brushing against hers. “I like it

this way…”

The next moment, Lydia felt his agile tongue parting her lips, exploring her mouth recklessly.

Just before she almost suffocated, Lambert finally released her, licking his lips with satisfaction. “Tastes

good!”

Blushing furiously, Lydia punched him lightly, but he caught her hand. “So, tell me, who’s this Andrew?”

Lydia was taken aback, noticing Lambert’s serious gaze.

Her heart skipped a beat. Could it be that he’s jealous?

“What are you thinking? He’s just a friend. We used to go to school together, and he’s always been caring towards everyone!”

Lambert narrowed his eyes slightly.

His intuition told him that this Andrew wasn’t as simple as Lydia described.

Either Lydia was oblivious to his feelings, or Andrew hadn’t officially confessed yet!

“Really no special relationship? I’ve heard he’s often very attentive to you, caring and considerate, even at work, you two seem to get along well.”

The more Lambert spoke, the more despondent he sounded. Long lashes cast a shadow over his eyes, and Lydia’s heart trembled. She quickly grasped Lambert’s hand.

“He’s just a normal friend, really! Besides, even if he does like me and I have feelings for him, do you think

I’d still be here today?”

Lambert raised an eyebrow. “Regardless of whether he likes you or not, you’re mine!”

Blushing, Lydia spoke to him in a soothing tone, as if calming a child. “Alright, alright, I’m yours! Just

yours!”

Deep down, she couldn’t help but feel moved by this rare display of vulnerability from Lambert.

For a moment, she wanted to pamper this man and cherish him in her heart.

The two of them indulged in each other’s company in the office for a while before Lydia finally got up to

work.

As for Lambert, hearing that he had free time today, Lydia simply asked him to wait in the office until

she finished work.

Then they planned to have a romantic candlelit dinner.

Of course, before Lydia left, Lambert insisted on another deep kiss.

Thinking about the so–called punishment she had agreed to earlier in the morning, Lydia felt her face

flush.

“Ma’am, why is your face so red? Are you feeling feverish?” Assistant Prima looked at Lydia with concern.

With the recent rush of design drafts, she seemed to be working extra hard.

As her assistant, Prima naturally wanted to care for her well–being.

“It’s nothing, really,” Lydia quickly explained. “I just feel a bit stuffy today.”

Prima glanced up at the functioning air conditioner. She didn’t think it was stuffy at all.

Feeling embarrassed, Lydia turned her face away, trying to hide her shyness.

“Are you feverish?”

Before Lydia could calm herself down, a pair of distinct knuckles reached out to touch her forehead.

Startled, Lydia instinctively stepped back, avoiding the contact, only to find Andrew’s worried face.

“Andrew. You scared me! I’m fine, really. It’s just a bit stuffy today, not a fever.”

Andrew looked at the hand that had been avoided, a hint of disappointment in his eyes. “That’s good

then. You’ve been pushing yourself too hard these past few days. Remember to rest. It’d be terrible if you

fell ill.”

Lydia smiled warmly. “I know! Thanks for your concern!”

As they continued their conversation, they walked towards the meeting room.

Meanwhile, Lambert, bored out of his mind, noticed the schedule on Lydia’s desk: a product confirmation

meeting with the person in charge of SAC company at one o’clock in the afternoon.

SAC? A name flashed through Lambert’s mind: Andrew Fraine? Wasn’t that the same Andrew from

earlier?

Thud!

Lambert stood up from his chair, his face darkening like a storm. They had lunch together, fine, but they were also having a meeting in the afternoon?

No way!

He had to go see what was going on!

After some contemplation, Lambert dialed a number marked on the desk’s internal line.

“Where is Lydia’s meeting?”

The assistant who answered the phone was taken aback. “Conference Room 1 on the third floor! May I ask who’s calling?”

Click!

Without waiting for the assistant to finish speaking, Lambert hung up the phone, leaving the assistant staring at the receiver, perplexed.

Had she misheard? She was certain she had never heard that voice before!
