Chapter 51 Very beautiful!

Early the next morning, Lydia got up before six. She couldn’t sleep well, even though today’s schedule had long been set. She was feeling nervous.

So, Lydia went to Wythe’s room and nudged him, still in the midst of dreaming. “Wythe, what do you

think about me staying home today? You can go with your dad alone, okay?” 1

Wythe, half–awake, bolted up from the bed at her words. “Mom, how can you say something like that?”

Lydia lowered her head, looking troubled. She never quite knew how to interact with elders.

After her mother’s death, she grew more distant from Harlan, and as for Mildred, her stepmother, they

barely communicated beyond material matters.

Suddenly facing two elders, especially those who had shown obvious dislike towards her before, Lydia

felt truly unsure. She hesitated for a moment.

Wythe’s expression softened, and he stepped forward to hug Lydia. “Mom, do you really trust me to go with Dad alone? What if they don’t let me come back?”

With Wythe’s words, Lydia hesitated. Thinking back to the café incident, it did seem possible! She

glanced at Wythe’s expectant eyes, gritted her teeth, “Alright! I’ll go! It’s no big deal!”

Wythe grinned, “I knew Mom would always take care of me! Don’t worry, Mom, Dad and I won’t let you get

bullied!”

Lydia nodded, feeling a surge of courage as she held Wythe. Whatever happened, they were just visiting

today; she couldn’t let Wythe stay alone there!

With the problem solved, Wythe felt sleepy again. He held Lydia’s hand, “Mom, can you sleep with me a

bit longer? It’s still early anyway.”

Lydia, who hadn’t slept well last night, felt a bit tired after Wythe’s suggestion.

Glancing at the time, it was not even six yet. She could snooze for another two hours.

Besides, wouldn’t it be embarrassing to show up with a tired face for their first visit? She thought to

herself.

Lost in her thoughts, Lydia drifted off to sleep on Wythe’s small bed, until she heard the doorbell ring.

“Ding–ding–ding…”

Startled awake, Lydia checked the time. Oh no! It was already 8:10!

Hurriedly getting up from the bed, without much thought, she rushed to answer the door.

Outside, Lambert stood with a paper bag. Seeing Lydia’s disheveled appearance, he first looked surprised, then his eyes softened with amusement. “Just woke up?”

Lydia blushed, realizing how terrible she must look. She was still in her pajamas, her hair a mess. She probably even had traces of sleep on her face. “Um… I overslept, I’m sorry.”

But Lambert was in a great mood. He found Lydia in this sleepy state incredibly adorable!

However, seeing her embarrassed expression, he decided not to tease her further and handed over the

bag in his hand. “Wear this!”

Lydia took it, surprised. “Did you prepare clothes for us?”

“Yeah, it’s matching outfits for us!”

While Lambert answered, he looked around the room. Though small, it was arranged very warmly,

showing the owner’s care in life.

Meanwhile, Lydia had rushed to the bathroom to freshen up. Lambert didn’t see Wythe anywhere. “Is Wythe still asleep?”

“Yeah…I’ll call him!” Lydia’s muffled voice came from the bathroom, indicating she was brushing her

teeth.

A hint of amusement flashed in Lambert’s eyes. “Let me do it!”

Pushing open the door to the small bedroom gently, Lambert immediately spotted Wythe curled up and

sleeping soundly.

His expression softened at the sight of his son’s face, so much like his own. Lambert hesitated for a moment, then reached out and gently pinched Wythe’s little nose.

“Time to wake up, buddy!”

Wythe blinked, suddenly awake at the sight of Lambert. He sounded uncertain, “Dad?”

“It’s already 8:30! We’re leaving today, remember?” Lambert grinned.

Wythe yawned and mumbled, “I haven’t forgotten! Are you doubting my memory, Dad?”

Lambert leaned in, planting a kiss on Wythe’s forehead. “Alright, sweetheart. Let Dad help you get

dressed!”

As he spoke, Lambert carried Wythe to sit on his lap. “Dad wants to dress you up for once!” Unspoken was the fact that Lambert hadn’t had the chance to do so in Wythe’s five years of life.

Feeling a pang of guilt, Lambert’s eyes softened. If Wythe hadn’t come to him on his own, he might still not know he had a child growing up somewhere unknown to him.

Hearing Lambert’s words, Wythe leaned forward and planted a kiss on his chin. “Dad, there will be more chances in the future! Our family won’t be separated again, right?”

Lambert nodded, holding Wythe tighter. “Right! Never again!”

Lydia, standing at the door, watched this scene with tears in her eyes.

She quietly turned away, calming her stirred emotions, before cheerfully reminding them, “Wythe, Lambert, you need to hurry up. It’s almost nine!”

Lambert smiled faintly, letting Wythe down. “Let’s go, sweetheart. Let Dad see if this outfit suits you!”

Five minutes later, when Lambert led Wythe out of the room, Lydia couldn’t help but stare. She hadn’t paid much attention to Lambert’s attire when she was still half asleep, but now she noticed he was

dressed in a rare casual British style.

He looked like an elegant European nobleman. Wythe’s outfit was equally fitting, lively yet subtly

luxurious.

Of course, as Lydia observed Lambert and their son, Lambert’s gaze also fell on her.

In an English–style long dress, Lydia exuded elegance and charm.

To complement her outfit, she had braided her long hair into a bun, looking dignified.

Standing beside Lambert, they were definitely a perfect match!

Lambert took Lydia’s hand, “You look beautiful today!”

Lydia blushed, but Wythe quickly followed up, “Very beautiful!”

Lydia chuckled, pulling them along, “Let’s go quickly, otherwise we might have to prepare dinner!”
