Chapter 45 I’m sorry

Ron felt he had turned the tide and was extremely pleased with himself. So what if Lydia inherited the G
Group now?
She would still be a woman scorned by many, wouldn’t she? The media was always the best tool.
Just thinking about his performance on TV not long ago, he himself felt deeply emotional.
A cold gleam flashed beneath his gold–rimmed glasses.
Ron refused to believe it. If he could corner Lydia six years ago, how could she still have him under
control six years later? Hmph!
After parking the car in the underground garage, Ron checked the time.
As a token of appreciation for the help from the director earlier, he had made a dinner appointment with
him today.
Stepping out of the car, Ron straightened his clothes and walked confidently towards the exit of the parking lot.
Suddenly, several burly men got out of a Hummer, each one tall and muscular with fierce expressions.
Ron glanced at them and quickened his pace. These guys looked like trouble, and he didn’t want any part
of it.
But what Ron didn’t expect was that just because he didn’t look for trouble didn’t mean trouble wouldn’t find him. The muscle–bound men approached, blocking Ron’s path.
Ron paused, stepping aside, and put on his most amiable smile. “You guys go ahead.”
But before he could finish his sentence, the leader, a bald man, grabbed him by the collar and lifted him
Ron’s heart skipped a beat. He quickly apologized, “No, no! I’m sorry, I misspoke.”
The bald man didn’t seem interested in letting him continue. With one punch, he knocked off Ron’s glasses, and Ron felt a sharp pain in his face followed by a blur.
“A few big brothers, please don’t! Let’s talk. Do you want money or something? I have it, I’ll give it to you!” Ron begged repeatedly.
But the bald man gave a signal to the others with his eyes. “Who the hell wants your money? Do you think we’re robbers? Damn it, you’re so clueless! Brothers, teach him a lesson!”
The others joined in, punching and kicking Ron. Despite being tall and big, Ron was no match for them, especially since they clearly had training.

In the end, he felt intense pain, as if one of his legs was broken.
In a daze, he heard the bald man’s voice near his ear, “Damn it, I can’t stand scumbags like you. Pay attention in the future. Know what to say and what not to say, damn it!”
Then, they kicked Ron a few more times before getting back in the Hummer and leaving. Ron lay battered and bruised on the floor of the underground garage.
The bald man on the Hummer held up his phone. “Bob, it’s done! Did you get the photos?”
On the other end of the call, Lambert’s bodyguard, Bob, flipped through the received photos. “Received.
You did well this time.”
“That’s good! As long as you speak well of us in front of Lambert,” the bald man replied.
“Don’t worry, I won’t let you down,” Bob assured.
“Good, good!”
Bob hung up the phone, printed out the received photos, and then knocked on Lambert’s office door.
Ron was eventually taken to the hospital by passersby. When Maggie’s family received the news and rushed to the hospital, he had just awakened from unconsciousness.
“Ron, who did this to you?” Maggie shed a few tears at the sight of him in such a state.
Ron had lost two teeth and spoke with a lisp. “Don’t know, seemed like a bunch of thugs!”
Harlan furrowed his brow, reminded of his own past experience of being beaten, a chill creeping up from his heart. “Could this have something to do with Lydia?”
At the mention of Lydia’s name, Maggie’s voice rose involuntarily. “It must be that bitch! Not only did she take over the company, but she also had someone beat up Ron. It’s outrageous!”
Ron hesitated for a moment. “Doesn’t seem like her!”
Maggie’s face turned cold. “What do you mean ‘doesn’t seem like her‘? It must be her! Ron, have you been drugged? Can’t you see something so obvious? And what about before? Didn’t we agree that the only reason you applied to remarry Lydia was to get the company? Now what? Are you thinking of making it
real?”
Ron gave her a cold look. “What are you babbling about? Wasn’t this plan suggested by you and your
father?”
Before Maggie could retort, Harlan pulled her aside. “Alright, let’s calm down. The most important thing now is to heal Ron’s injuries as soon as possible. As for other matters, let’s wait until Ron is out of the hospital.”

Maggie snorted and angrily left the hospital.
As she left the hospital, Maggie grew angrier with each passing moment. Yes, the idea of Ron remarrying Lydia was indeed something they had come up with together, but it was only to regain control of the G
Group.
Yet, look at Ron’s words on TV, portraying himself as a devoted lover. She ended up being portrayed as a woman who pursued him!
Why should she tolerate this?!
What was even more infuriating was that the emotional talk show had only aired for one night before disappearing.
Even the host came out to apologize for baselessly accusing Miss Lydia of eloping with someone.
Now, they hadn’t earned any good reputation, but instead, some people had discovered their intentions.
Ron, who was more trouble than he was worth!
Maggie paused her steps, a glimpse of fierceness flashing in her enchanting eyes. She wouldn’t let this go easily!
Lydia, just wait and see!
