Chapter 31 True Happiness
“Let go, you’re going to break my hand!” Harlan struggled and howled, then started cursing, “Who are you? What’s your relationship with my daughter that you’re hitting me?”
Lambert sneered and released Harlan’s wrist.
Harlan stumbled, thinking he had freed himself, only to be grabbed by a tall man behind Lambert, his loyal bodyguard, Bob.
“You’re hitting my girlfriend, so naturally, it concerns me! But since you claim to be Lydia’s father, I can’t
lay a hand on you myself. Bob, TAKE CARE OF him.”
As a longtime bodyguard to Lambert, Bob understood what to do with just a glance from his boss. He
lifted Harlan and headed toward the alley behind the café.
Harlan was about to yell when a sharp pain shot through him. His jaw was dislocated, his eyes widened
in realization of the trouble he was in. Who was this cold–hearted man? When did Lydia get involved
with such a person?
Before Harlan could make sense of it, a barrage of punches rained down on him. He felt pain all over his
body, but he couldn’t muster the strength to resist.
He tried to call for help, but with his jaw hanging loose, he couldn’t make a sound, only drooling onto his
expensive suit.
As he drifted into unconsciousness, Harlan’s only thought was: Lydia had indeed changed.
Inside the café, Lydia watched the scene before her with a mix of confusion and gratitude. She hadn’t
expected him to witness her in such a state again. Grateful for his protection, her heart warmed a little.
“Thank you,” she said.
Lambert frowned, brushing her hair aside. “I’ve said, no need for thanks between us.”
Avoiding his intense gaze, Lydia suddenly remembered Lambert’s previous proposal, realizing she hadn’t given him an answer yet. Feeling awkward, she changed the subject. 1
“Will he die?”
“Don’t worry, Bob knows what to do.”
“Oh…” Lydia’s eyes betrayed a hint of disappointment. There was a trace of self–mockery and sadness in her gaze as she looked at Lambert.
“It’s ridiculous, isn’t it? He’s supposed to be my father, yet he doesn’t care about me at all. In his eyes,
money and power are probably all that matters.”

Lambert’s gaze darkened. Harlan Gilford? He made a mental note of the name. Whoever dared to harm his woman would pay dearly.
As Lydia’s mood remained low, she suddenly felt someone grabbing her hand. Looking up, she saw Lambert’s handsome profile.
“Come with me.”
Without hesitation, Lambert pulled Lydia out of the café and into the Ferrari parked outside.
It wasn’t until the car sped away that Lydia snapped out of her daze. “Where are we going?”
Lambert remained silent for a moment before speaking, “Somewhere to cheer you up.”
Lydia was taken aback. Looking at Lambert’s serious expression in the rearview mirror, she felt a soothing balm on her wounded heart.
Her eyes welled up inexplicably, and she quickly turned to look out the window, afraid she might burst
into tears at that moment.

Half an hour later, Lydia stood in awe before the colorful amusement park.
She glanced at Lambert, wondering if this was the place that would cheer her up.
Although she had visited amusement parks a few times with Wythe while abroad, wouldn’t it be strange
for two adults to be here together?
A blush crept onto Lydia’s face, but Lambert, expressionless, simply took her hand and headed towards
the ticket gate.
His steps were firm, and Lydia, watching his broad back, felt her heart flutter like a startled deer.
It wasn’t a weekend, so there weren’t many children in the amusement park. Instead, there were plenty of young couples enjoying themselves.
Watching their happy faces, Lydia couldn’t help but feel a hint of sweetness, thinking that perhaps, in the eyes of others, she and Lambert were just like those couples.
The warmth in her hand made Lydia feel like this seemingly indifferent man was comforting her in his own way, perhaps treating her like a child. It was both amusing and touching.
But her heart felt warm.
As Lydia experienced weightlessness on the amusement rides, she couldn’t help but scream. The hand that held hers tightened involuntarily. This exhilarating release swept away her feelings of sadness and discomfort, leaving her feeling much better.

After the rides, Lydia’s face was flushed. Whether from the wind at high altitudes or excitement, she couldn’t tell. Lambert, seeing her enthusiastic smile, felt a trace of tenderness in his deep eyes.
“This is how a woman should be happy! No one should make her cry!”
Suddenly, Lambert’s phone rang. He glanced at it and calmly hung up.
Lydia felt a bit embarrassed. Knowing Lambert’s status, how could he have time for such places? Perhaps she had unintentionally delayed his work?
“Lambert, thank you for accompanying me. I’m fine now. If you have important work…”
“It’s okay! You’re more important.”
The seriousness in Lambert’s black eyes startled Lydia, and she could only let him lead her onto the sightseeing cable car.
She hadn’t experienced this before.
Her engagement with Ron had been rushed, and looking back, Ron’s pursuit of her seemed more like a means to please her father and stepmother. She blamed her own naivety and stupidity for being deceived
into marriage.
But now, Lambert made her feel completely different. Every action he took for her, every moment they spent together, filled her with sweetness and happiness, making her feel both nervous and shy. Perhaps, this was what first love felt like?
Lydia felt her heart overflowing, as if just by looking at his figure, she owned the whole world. But at the same time, she felt apprehensive. Her failed marriage made her hesitate. Would she really be able to give her heart again?
Lydia snapped out of her thoughts, realizing they were already inside the cable car. As the car glided along the cable, showcasing the entire amusement park and even the distant scenery, Lydia admired the view while Lambert admired her.
Feeling Lambert’s intense gaze, Lydia felt a bit uneasy and turned to look outside. “Look, how beautiful the scenery is!”
“I think you’re even more beautiful.”
Lydia’s ears turned red. She was about to say something when she suddenly met a pair of soft yet domineering lips.
A passionate kiss enveloped her, making Lydia melt. She stared breathlessly into Lambert’s eyes, seeing only desire and possessiveness in those deep orbs.
As the kiss ended, Lambert spoke dominantly, “When you’re with me, you’re only allowed to think of me!”

Lydia blushed, realizing Lambert was scolding her for her distraction earlier. She apologized hesitantly,
I’m sorry…”
“It’s okay! You can make it up to me in another way.”
The deep, husky voice faded in Lydia’s ears as Lambert licked her earlobe. Lydia felt a shiver run down her spine as his minty–fresh lips covered hers again. Her mind went blank, as if something had exploded
inside her head.
Wrapped tightly in Lambert’s embrace, Lydia could even feel the heat emanating from his broad hands.
His slender fingers intertwined in her soft hair, and the scent of fresh mint engulfed her, as if she were being enveloped in his world.
Lambert deepened the kiss with his soft, tender tongue. Whether it was her sweet fragrance or her warm body, Lambert felt like he was on fire.
Flames surged through him, almost consuming his rationality, especially in his lower abdomen. His tense body pressed against her soft one, on the brink of collapse.
Just as Lydia was about to suffocate, she realized what they were doing.
They were thousands of meters above the ground, and the transparent glass almost exposed everything
inside the cable car.
Lydia was immediately ashamed and annoyed, and in a fit of anger, the teeth a closed…….
Lambert felt a sharp pain in his lips. Seeing Lydia’s embarrassed and angry gaze, his rationality gradually returned.
What a damn!
Lydia could hardly remember how they got off the cable car.
She felt her whole body burning red, like a fish on a hot plate, struggling with all its might to leave.
After that, Lambert didn’t have any more intimate contact with her.
But his eyes grew even deeper, like an abyss that hadn’t seen daylight in a long time, making it impossible for anyone to fathom his thoughts…
