Chapter 24 Do you… like me?
Lambert had prepared a set of light yellow dress for her, which accentuated her already fair skin, making her look even more delicate.
There was still a blush on her face from their previous passionate encounter, and her long black hair hung softly behind her, fresh and pure, like a newly emerged swan, beautiful enough to make Lambert unable to take his eyes off her.
Feeling a bit embarrassed, Lydia adjusted the hem of her dress. Her face blushed slightly. “Is it appropriate for me to wear this at my age?”
“No, it’s perfect for you!” He admired her from head to toe with burning eyes, not missing a single detail.
“Then, shall we go quickly? Wythe must be waiting anxiously.” Lydia turned her head slightly, avoiding Lambert’s eyes.
His deep and scorching gaze seemed to drown her instantly.
“Just a moment!” Lambert paused, picking up a dry towel he had prepared earlier from the sofa and covered Lydia’s head. “Dry your hair before we go. A few minutes won’t matter.”
Lydia felt warm inside, touched by his unexpectedly gentle and considerate gesture. No one had dried her hair for years. That warm, strong hand seemed to take away all her sadness and pain.
“Alright!”
Lambert tossed the towel into the laundry basket and then led Lydia out. Before getting into the car, he went to the kitchen and came out with a thermos in his hand, which surprised Lydia.
“This is…”
“You haven’t had breakfast yet. It’s not good for your stomach!”
Lydia’s eyes welled up with tears, quickly lowering her head. She carefully opened the thermos, finding freshly made sandwiches, still warm.
She took a bite, feeling warmth spreading through her body, even warming her heart.
Lydia turned to look at Lambert, who was driving seriously. His handsome face seemed expressionless and somewhat indifferent, but his eyes always gave off an indescribable tenderness. Suddenly, Lydia’s heart moved, looking at Lambert.
“Have you eaten?”
Lambert glanced at her, then quickly turned his head away. There was a faint smile in his dazzling eyes. I’ll eat if you feed me!”

His sparkling eyes were full of teasing and smiles, evidently enjoying Lydia’s concern.
Lydia looked at the sandwich in her hand, preparing to offer it to him. Lambert suddenly spoke, “I’ve already eaten your saliva, why would I mind eating something you’ve eaten?”
Lydia’s face blushed again. She glared at Lambert, originally thinking he was a cold and indifferent person, but she didn’t expect him to tease her like this. It was too much!
Despite her dissatisfaction, Lydia still handed him the sandwich. They finished breakfast this way,
taking turns to feed each other.
“Um, you haven’t explained how you knew about my son. Do you… not mind?” Lydia timely changed the
subject.
“Why should I mind?” Lambert replied seriously, “That’s your past. If you don’t want to talk about it, I
won’t ask. But I’ll find out about you in my own way, so I already knew you had a son.”
His answer was assertive, showing his dominance. He investigated her, not out of suspicion but out of
concern.
“So you’ve investigated me.” Lydia lowered her head, feeling a bit lost. “Then you…”
She felt a bit uncomfortable. Did he really not mind? Did that mean he didn’t have genuine feelings for
her? Then why did he hug and kiss her? Just to take advantage of her?
Lambert seemed to understand her thoughts, gently touching her forehead.
“Don’t overthink it! I don’t mind! I’ll try to accept that child! Your past doesn’t include me, but your future
belongs to me. And, I think you’re an independent, strong, and brave woman. I really like that.”
Lydia looked up in surprise. Was Lambert confessing his feelings?
“Do you… like me?”
“Of course! Why else would I kiss you? Aren’t we in a relationship now?” Lambert’s answer was natural.
Lydia was completely confused. When did she become Lambert’s girlfriend? Why didn’t she know
anything about it?
Perhaps Lydia’s astonished and confused expression made Lambert sigh inwardly. It seemed this
woman was a bit slow in matters of the heart. “Lydia, do you think I’m someone who kisses women randomly?”
“That’s not what I meant.” Her face turned red.
Lambert locked her gaze dominantly. “Listen, I like you. Would you like to be my girlfriend?”
Lydia’s face alternated between red and pale, her expression changing constantly.

She looked at Lambert’s well–defined profile and had only one question in her mind: Why were other people’s confessions so romantic, while her boyfriend talked about liking her in such a casual tone on a nice day like today?
Something seemed off!
Unaware, Lydia had subconsciously placed Lambert in the position of her boyfriend.
“But, haven’t we just met…?” Was it too soon? And they had such a big age difference, not to mention her
son. Even though he was still young, he was her pillar of support, an indispensable part of her life. She
had to pass the test of having a boyfriend with her son!
“I understand!” Lambert interrupted Lydia’s words, his tone remaining steady. “Tell me when you’ve
made up your mind!”
Lydia breathed a sigh of relief, but also felt a bit melancholic. Her mind was in a mess, it seemed that
every time she faced this man, all her shrewdness and rationality would vanish. Sometimes, just looking
into his eyes made her blush and her heart race. Oh, what to do?
The car raced on, and there was silence in the carriage for the rest of the journey. Lambert didn’t want to
continue pressuring her. Since he had made his feelings clear, Lydia would eventually belong to him,
sooner or later!
Lambert never did anything without confidence!
The car stopped in front of the apartment building where Lydia temporarily lived. Getting out of the car,
Lydia was still a bit dazed. Thinking about Wythe waiting for her at home, she quickly came back to her
senses and bid farewell to Lambert.
“Thank you for yesterday. I’ll go in now!”
Lydia’s footsteps hadn’t even left the car when Lambert reached out and held her chin, a hint of
tenderness in his deep eyes. “Leaving just like that? Don’t I deserve some gratitude?”
“Gratitude?” Lydia’s confusion hadn’t dissipated when she felt her lips touch. Soft and sweet, she blushed instantly, hastily turning away and leaving.
Unbeknownst to them, by the window of an apartment upstairs, a pair of eyes watched them closely.
