Chapter 7 Reclaiming what's mine
Chapter 7
Victoria's POV
I pushed open the door, a smile spreading across my face as I locked eyes with Julian. Evelyn's voice was a mere backdrop.
"Victoria, what are you doing here?" Evelyn demanded, again, but I ignored her.
My eyes never left Julian's as I strode towards him, confidence oozing from every pore. The woman sitting opposite him – probably, the woman i was told moved in with him - looked up, her eyes looking calm
She is unaware of what is coming for her - I am back to get Julian!
Reaching Julian, I leaned in, my lips crashing against his in a deep, possessive kiss. Julian's eyes fluttered closed, his body relaxing into mine, but he didn't respond to the kiss. His passivity was unusual, but I didn't let it deter me.
As our lips touched, I felt Julian's weakness, his resolve crumbling beneath my kiss. I love the way he melted against my kiss.
He hasn't changed. He still can't resist me. I laughed inwardly.
But before I could savor the moment, Evelyn's hands grasped my shoulders, yanking me away from Julian.
"Get off him, Victoria!" Evelyn shouted, her voice echoing through the mansion.
I turned to face her, a smirk twisting my lips. "Still protective of your big brother, I see."
Evelyn's eyes flashed with anger. "You have no right to be here."
I chuckled, glancing at Julian, who remained calm, his expression unreadable.
"I have every right," I declared, my voice dripping with conviction. "Julian knows that."
Julian's eyes snapped open, his gaze locking onto mine. For an instant, I saw a flicker of something – longing, perhaps, or regret.
But it vanished, replaced by his signature mask of indifference.
"Evelyn, let her go," Julian said, his voice low and even.
Evelyn's grip tightened before she released me, her eyes blazing with warning.
I smiled, triumphant. This was just the beginning.
"Julian, we need to talk," I said, my voice low.
"Talk about what? Why the hell are you even back?" Evelyn demanded, her voice sharp. "My brother doesn't want you again. He's got a new wife."
I raised an eyebrow, feigning ignorance. "A wife?"
Evelyn's eyes flashed with triumph. her smile piercing like a dagger. "Yes...Sophie. And she's way better than you'll ever be."
I chuckled, my smile laced with amusement. "Sophie, huh? And where is she?"
Evelyn's gaze sparkled with malice. "I didn't know blindness had added to the sickness you have, because how would you not see a beauty here." She said, pointing at Sophie.
Her words stung, and I felt a surge of resentment.
How dare this girl talk to me like this?
Evelyn had always seen through me, always despised me.
I hate her guts!
She had warned her brother then that I was cheating, but her brother was blinded by love and didn't believe her.
I smiled sweetly despite burning with rage inside. "Oh...my bad! I thought she was a new maid."
Evelyn's face reddened. "What? How dare you?" Her voice trembled with fury.
I revelled in her anger, knowing I'd struck a nerve.
"Leave here, now," Evelyn demanded.
I turned to Julian, my eyes locking onto his, searching for a glimmer of affection. "I will only leave when Julian tells me to."
Julian's expression remained impassive, but his silence spoke volumes. My heart swelled with triumph. He still loves me.
"Brother, tell her to leave," Evelyn urged.
Julian's gaze never wavered, and I smiled inwardly.
I know he still loves me!
He still cares!
Sophie, his so-called wife, stood up and went upstairs, escaping the tension.
I seized the opportunity, sauntering closer to Julian. My lips brushed against his cheek in a gentle peck.
"You should leave now," Julian said, almost in a whisper.
I smiled. "Ok, I will, but I will be back again."
Evelyn's anger boiled over. "I don't want to see your two left legs here again,...never again!"
As she opened the door, I cast a triumphant glance at Julian. His eyes flickered with a mixture of warning and longing.
I knew I had won this round.
I moved to the door where Evelyn was standing and whispered. "You will regret your behaviour today because Julian is mine."
"Leave, before I asked the security to throw you out." She said fearlessly.
With that, I swept out of the house, leaving Evelyn seething.
I strode out of the mansion, the cool morning air enveloping me like a shroud. My driver, awaiting my return, sprang into action, opening the door to my sleek black sedan.
"Welcome back, ma'am," he said, his voice courteous.
I slid into the back seat, feeling the soft leather envelop me. The door closed with a soft click, shutting out the tension left behind.
"Find out everything about Sophie, Julian's so-called wife." I said, on the phone to Jaxon, my secretary.
"Ok, ma'am." He replied, and I ended the call.
My thoughts drifted back to Julian. He hasn't gotten over me. Julian had loved me since college, but I had broken his heart countless times by leaving him for other men. Yet, every time I returned, he took me back with open arms.
I never loved Julian; he was just a conquest, a bet among my friends to seduce the handsome, rich Julian. And I had won. His lavish spending had kept me hooked, but after college...
The sudden movement of the car broke into my thoughts.
"What happened?" I asked, my driver.
"That car suddenly overtook us, almost hitting us," he said, pointing at the car ahead.
"Overtake him," I ordered.
My driver increased the speed, but the car remained ahead.
"Can't you drive faster?" I asked, anger rising.
"I'm sorry, ma'am, but I must slow down; the traffic light is red," he replied.
"Stupid traffic... Just overtake that car!" I screamed.
My driver ignored the traffic light and i noticed a police vehicle following us, announcing that my car should stop but I just told my driver to ignore them. He soon overtake the car, blocking it.
My driver got out and opened the door for me. A middle-aged man emerged from the other car.
"How can I help you? I need to go; my wife is in labor," he pleaded
His audacity infuriated me.
"I don't care about your wife," I snapped, slapping him.
"Fuck your wife in labor!"
The man clutched his cheek, shocked.
The police arrived, interrupting the scene.
"Ma'am, you violated traffic laws," one officer said.
"Mrs. Langley?" another officer asked, eyes widening.
The officer quickly knelt.
"Sorry, ma'am; I didn't recognize you," he apologized.
The other officer looked puzzled.
"You don't know the Langleys? The second richest family in New York?" The kneeling officer explained."I'm sorry, ma'am; he's new,"
"But nobody is above the law." The new officer said.
Why the fuck is everybody getting on my nerve today?
"I'll pardon you this time," I said, pointing at the kneeling officer.
I grabbed the other officer's ID card.
FINNLEY JEREMIAH!
"I'll make one call," I threatened. "Get my phone in the car." I said to my driver.
My driver handed me my phone, and I dialed the police commissioner.
"Sack Finnley Jeremiah; he messed with me," I ordered.
The commissioner complied, and I ended the call.
"I'm not to be messed with," I warned Finnley.
His phone beeped, and his face fell.
"I've been fired!"
The scene drew a crowd, with people recording videos, but I didn't care.
I turned to the middle-aged man.
"And you..."
I kicked hum where the sun doesn't shine.
"That's your punishment."
I walked back to my car, my driver rushing to open the door.
As I settled in, a sly smile spread across my face.
I entered my lavish bedroom, enveloped in soothing silence. I had a quick shower and change into my plush bathrobe. Standing before the mirror, I admired my reflection.
My stunning features and long, brown hair left me breathless. I've always known I'm an epitome of beauty; the constant admiration confirms it.
My thoughts drifted to Sophie, Julian's so-called wife. Why do I feel like she's a competitor? She looks weak.
"You always win, Victoria, and you're going to win again," I declared to my reflection, nodding confidently.
A gentle knock interrupted my reverie.
"Enter," I called out.
Jaxon, my trusted aide, stepped inside.
"Any updates?" I asked.
"Yes, ma'am. Sophie's mother is critically ill in the hospital. Additionally, her ex-boyfriend cheated on her with an older woman," Jaxon reported.
I smiled, intrigued. "Wonderful news."
"Julian is holding a press conference in two days' time. But he didn't say what it's about." Jaxon informed me.
"Okay, keep me informed of any other updates."
Jaxon nodded, departing as swiftly as he arrived.
I wonder what the sudden press conference is about.
I'll try to persuade Sophie to leave Julian peacefully. But if she refuses—which i doubt—we'll execute our plan.
A cunning smile spread across my face as I contemplated my next move.
