Chapter 48 Letting it out...
Chapter 48 Letting it out...
Chapter 48
Sophie's POV
I got down from the car and made my way to Victoria's doorstep. Pressing the doorbell, I waited, but there was no reply—only the loud noises reverberated from inside the house. I pressed the doorbell again, and still, no response.
Taking a deep breath, I opened the door and stepped inside. The sight that met my eyes was shocking: Victoria was giving a guy a lap dance, lost in the rhythm of the loud music blaring from the speakers. They didn't seem to notice me as they were immersed in their moment.
I walked over to the speaker and turned it off. The sudden silence drew their attention, and Victoria looked up, her face a mixture of surprise and annoyance. She got off the guy, hastily dragging down her skimpy gown.
"What the fuck!" she exclaimed, eyes wide.
"I can see you’re enjoying yourself after destroying a home," I shot back, my heart pounding.
"What do you mean I destroyed a home?" she asked, feigning innocence as she turned to the guy. "Leave!"
He scurried away, and Victoria sank back into the cushions, crossing her legs defiantly. "Yeah, you were saying?" she challenged, her tone dripping with sarcasm.
"Don't act like you’re deaf, okay? I know you heard me perfectly well," I said, my voice rising in frustration.
"Oh, I think I understand what you were talking about now. That means my plan went perfectly well. Wow, so I guess my next move is to get back with Julian," she replied with a smirk, her eyes glinting with malice.
"I can’t believe you can think of such a devilish plan; it shows you’re a devil yourself," I retorted, looking at her with disdain. Evelyn had warned me about her, but I never imagined she would stoop this low.
"Well... if you came to my house to tell me what I already know, then I guess you should leave now. You're not welcome here, and you can see that you interrupted something," she said, her tone dismissive.
"Look at you. You're just a bitch who knows nothing but how to fuck every dick you see," I shot back, my anger boiling over.
She stood up and moved closer, her expression challenging. "At least I have something to do with my body. You, with all the accessories women pray for—boobs, ass, curve...what are you doing? Just wasting your time with a billionaire who wouldn’t see you as anything more than a temporary fix for the betrayal I made him endure. And I know you’re only after his money, wench."
"Wench? How dare you!" I said, raising my hand to slap her, but she caught my wrist, stopping me.
"Don’t forget you’re in my house. I can get some guys to beat you up, and nothing will happen. Nobody would even find a wench like you because you would have been disposed of where no one would ever find you," she threatened, her voice low and dangerous.
"My driver drove me here, and he will definitely get you arrested," I replied, wriggling my hand free from her grip.
"Are you stupid, or are you just pretending to be? Your driver is a minor issue for me. I can easily make a single phone call to get rid of him—that’s how wicked I am." She moved closer still. "So, you should fear me and run for your life. Leave Julian for me, and you’ll be allowed to live."
I trembled at the weight of her words. I knew she meant every syllable; that’s how heartless she was.
Pretending not to be afraid, I declared, "That’s the only thing you’re good at. I advise you not to try anything against me. I will leave Julian for you; after all, it was a contract marriage."
"Contract marriage?" she asked, surprise etched on her face.
"Yes, and it was bound to be over anytime soon. So thanks for releasing me from the bondage called marriage," I said, turning on my heel and leaving the room without waiting for her response.
The moment I stepped outside, I let out a deep breath, feeling as though I'd been holding my breath the entire time. Victoria looked like a devil in human form.
I climbed into the car, where my driver was waiting patiently.
"Sorry for keeping you waiting. Drive me to Isabella's house instead," I instructed.
"Okay, ma," he replied, starting the engine as we left Victoria’s house behind.
When we arrived at Isabella's place, the driver helped me drop off my suitcase. I knocked on her door, and she opened it, looking as if she had just woken from a deep sleep. Rubbing her eyes, she squinted at me.
"Is it that I’m dreaming, or what?" she asked incredulously.
"It’s me, Isabella," I replied.
"Why are you here this late? And why the luggage?" she asked, concern etched on her face as she looked from the suitcase back to me.
"I'll explain when we get inside," I said, glancing back at the driver. "Thank you; you can go now."
He nodded, bowed, and left. Isabella helped me carry my suitcase into the house.

"So, you mean Alex did that? I’ve known him to be a jerk, but this is too much," she said, pausing to look at me. "I know I shouldn’t be saying this now, but Victoria came to me with an offer to work with her. She didn’t tell me what it was, she even bought the restaurant i was working at before, thinking if i am unemployed it would make me work for her. Julian knew about it and came to me with the offer of working in his restaurant. I didn’t realize that was her plan all along. I’m so sorry I didn’t tell you. Maybe if I had, it wouldn’t have escalated to this." Guilt washed over her face.
"I understand, Isabella. If I were in your shoes, I would have done the same thing. Even if I had known, there was nothing I could have done," I said, taking her hands in mine.
"So, Julian believed it?" Isabella asked.
"Yes, he had no choice. They were vivid evidence against me." I said.
"Ohh! I feel like going to Victoria and pulling off all her hair, making her bald, and kicking Alex where the sun doesn't shine." she said.
She looked at me, then pulled me into a hug. "Let it all out, baby," she said, and her words were like a dam breaking. I burst into tears immediately as she gently patted my back, allowing my emotions to flow freely.
