Chapter 11 Vengeance in sight
Behind the Billionaire's mask!
Chapter 12
Victoria's POV
I stormed into my house, my anger boiling over like a pot left unattended.
With a sweep of my arm, I sent the vase on the living room coffee table crashing to the floor. The sound of shattering glass was music to my ears. I kicked the couch cushions, sending them flying. The pillows burst open, spewing feathers everywhere.
I tore through the rooms, destroying everything in my path. Pictures frames shattered, books ripped from shelves, curtains torn from their rods. The sound of breaking glass and splintering wood fueled my rage.
Breathless, I stood amidst the chaos, surveying the destruction. The house now lay in ruins.
But the rage still simmered, waiting to erupt again.
How dare she called me 'expired'
I thought she would have been a piece of cake, but Sophie had turned out to be a formidable foe. Her words cut deeper than any knife. "Expired," she'd said, her voice dripping with disdain. As if I was nothing more than a stale, useless thing.
i clenched my fists, feeling the anger rise anew. My nails dug into my palms as I recalled her reaction. How dare she?
I paced across the ruined room, my heels clicking on the hardwood floor. The sound echoed through the silence, a reminder of my isolation.
Suddenly, I stopped in front of the mirror. My reflection stared back, eyes blazing with fury.
"Expired?" I whispered, the word tasting bitter.
I thought of Julian, of his hesitation, his uncertainty. Did he see me as expired, too? He also said he has gotten over me, is it true?
A cold dread crept up my spine.
No, I refused to believe it.
Just then, Jaxon entered the room, surveying the destruction. "Get our informant here, now!" I barked, my anger still simmering.
Jaxon bowed and hastily exited, returning minutes later with Jenkins, Julian's butler.
"Anything new?" I asked, struggling to compose myself.
Jenkins hesitated, glancing around the ruined room. "I saw the news, ma'am..."
"Answer my question!" I screamed, my patience snapping. Jenkins trembled.
"M-my boss and his wife don't seem close," he stammered. "They hardly talk. It's as if there's a reason they suddenly got married, but they're not discussing it."
My body suddenly relaxed, my mind racing. Perhaps Sophie's "expired" comment was a desperate deflection.
"Tell me more," I said, my voice even.
Jenkins nodded, relieved. "They're polite but distant. No affection. No shared laughter. It's...odd."
"Take." I said, dropping an envelope on the table.
"Thank you, ma'am." Jenkins said, beaming.
"Keep watching," I instructed Jenkins. "I want every detail."
Jenkins nodded and departed.
"Get someone to clean this up." I said to Jaxon, and he left.
I had lost control for no reason.
'Expired' is just a word.
I smiled to myself.
Julian thought he could dismiss me? Replace me with Sophie?
No, I knew him better.
He was still mine.
"Jaxon, have the car ready," I instructed as he walked back in."I'm visiting Julian tomorrow."
Jaxon nodded and left.
As I retired to my room, my mind whirled with anticipation.
I stepped into the grand mansion, my heels clicking on the marble floor. The familiar scent of Julian's estate enveloped.
As I entered the living room, Evelyn looked up from her book, and her eyes flashed with disdain.
"What are you doing here? Did I not tell you not to come here again?" Evelyn demanded, her voice icy.
I ignored her, scanning the room for Julian. My eyes locked onto the magnificent staircase, hoping he'd appear.
"Are you deaf? And if you're looking for my brother, he's not available because he's currently with his wife," Evelyn spat, her tone dripping with malice.
Before I could respond, Sophie descended the stairs, her beauty captivating. For a moment, I admired the effortless elegance she exuded. But I quickly dismissed the thought. She was nothing but a temporary obstacle.
"Why are you here?" Sophie asked, her eyes narrowing.
Julian appeared behind her, dressed impeccably in a tailored suit. Sophie's hand brushed against his, sending a surge of anger through me.
"Julian," I said sweetly, striding forward.
But Sophie's hand shot out, halting me. "What do you think you're doing?"
Her tone was firm, unlike the timid girl I remembered. Evelyn's influence, no doubt.
"You can't just come here and think you can just meet my husband because you had romantic feelings for him, which i know was fake, with how you called off the engagement," Sophie continued, her eyes flashing.
I scoffed. "What!" Speechless, I glared at Julian, waiting for him to intervene, but he just went and sank into the couch, keeping silent.
How did Sophie know this much. I turned to Evelyn and saw her smiling triumphantly.
"Yes! Did you not see the news? Oh! You were even there, right?" Sophie said, a triumphant smile spreading across her face.
Her words cut deep. She was gloating. I had thought she would apologise immediately she sees me.
"You're his past, I'm his present. Got it?" Sophie emphasized, her voice dripping with condescension.
She sat beside Julian, her hand possessively on his arm.
"How dare you?" I growled, my anger boiling.
"Julian, say something," I pleaded. "Julian you didn't mean it, when you said you had gotten over me, right?"
But he remained silent.
"I think you've overstayed your welcome," Evelyn interjected, her voice cold. "You should leave now,"
"But I'm not leaving until he says so," I insisted.
Sophie stood, her eyes blazing. "But I can, since he's my husband. Leave!"
She shouted, gesturing toward the door.
"And the next time you come here, you'll regret it."
Julian's silence was deafening.
Why wasn't he defending me? Why wasn't he standing up to Sophie?
I turned to him, my eyes burning. "Julian, tell her. Tell her you're mine. Tell her you still love me."
Julian's gaze met mine, but his expression was unreadable.
"Sophie, handle this," he said finally, his voice detached.
Sophie's smile grew. "Security, please escort her out."
Two guards appeared.
I glared at the guards. "I will walk out myself."
"You'll regret this." I muttered to Sophie.
With a parting glare at Evelyn, I pivoted and stormed out of the mansion.
I slid into my car, slamming the door. For a moment, I sat frozen, then unleashed a fury of screams, curses, and pounding fists on the steering wheel. My rage consuming me, my body trembling with unbridled anger.
Finally, exhaustion claimed me. I slumped back, eyes vacant, staring blankly at the road ahead.
My mind churned with vengeance.
"You've just pushed me to the wall. I am going to fucking destroy you, Sophie" I screamed.
