Chapter259
“Don’t be scared, Steph, I stood up for you!”
Stephanie frowned a little.
Hasn’t Maxwell told the Humphrey family about their divorce yet?
The other side.
Northpine Hospital.
Roxanne was bandaging up, and Maxwell was sitting alone in the hospital hallway waiting.
The lights in the hospital were really cold.
He sat alone on the chair, looking at the pale ceiling.
Too many things happened today, his mind was a mess.
What kept popping up in his mind was Stephanie, all the little things between him and her over the years, and lately, all the ways she had been Serena.
Her tears, her eyes, made his heart ache.
But in the end, what drowned out everything was Roxanne’s wrists covered in blood.
That was his responsibility.
All kinds of emotions came up, and a sense of powerlessness washed over him.

He didn’t know how to make it work for both sides.
Maxwell closed his eyes in pain.
What finally made him open his eyes was an old, angry voice-
“Maxwell!”
He opened his eyes, and what he saw was his grandpa’s angry face.
“Grandpa.” Maxwell said softly.
“You little brat!” Leonard snorted. “Why didn’t you go get Steph to come over here!”
Maxwell didn’t know what to say, he just looked at Leonard helplessly.
Leonard got pissed off just seeing Maxwell like that.
People here came and went, so he said to Maxwell, “Come with me!”
Maxwell stood up holding onto the wall and followed behind Leonard, who was using a cane.
We didn’t say a word the whole way.
In the end, they ended up in the safe passage.
Leonard was supported by Edwin, and Jennifer was also there watching Maxwell.
“I don’t want to say anything else.” Leonard stared sternly at Maxwell. “Maxwell, I told you, we the Humphrey family didn’t tolerate this kind of mess. Right now, immediately, go get Steph back for me!”
“If you couldn’t get rid of Roxanne, then I’ll do it!”
But Maxwell just looked at the hallway on the side.

Chapter259
He remembered that day again, when he accidentally pushed Stephanie down the stairs.
And also, during the first livestream of “The Ethereal Voice,” there were those patches of wounds on Serena.
He saw reporters staking out nearby when he got in the ambulance with Roxanne.
It should have already spread all over the internet.
In this situation, would she… have wanted to see him?
Leonard got mad when he saw Maxwell–like that. He hit Maxwell hard with his cane: “Talk!”
But Maxwell didn’t know what to say.
Jennifer on the side really couldn’t stand it anymore. She stared at Maxwell and said word by word, “Maxwell, people have feelings. You kept hurting Steph again and again. Didn’t you ever think about how sad she would be?”
“Back at the Humphrey’s mansion, we wanted you guys to talk things out, but now it looks like you never did!”
“Weren’t you afraid she’d leave you?”
Maxwell gave Jennifer a blank look.
Didn’t want him?
Once again, in front of his eyes appeared Stephanie’s calm eyes that never looked at him again.

Would she?
Maxwell’s fists were clenched. He suddenly felt a bit unsure.
“Your grandma was talking to you, couldn’t you hear her!” Leonard got more and more pissed off.
He took out his phone, found Stephanie’s contact, and handed the phone to Maxwell.
“Right now, call Stephanie and tell her you broke up with Roxanne, and say you’re going to see her later!”
