Stephanie reached out to help the old man breathe easier, hoping he’d feel better.
She could still feel who was good to her.
She didn’t want to deal with Maxwell, but she didn’t want anything to happen to Leonard either.
“Cough, cough, cough…” Leonard was still coughing.
Maxwell immediately called the family doctor.
They went to the villa, the family doctor rushed over and got Leonard stabilized.
At the end, he also said. “Even though Sir Humphrey got a lot better this past year and little things won’t be dangerous, you guys still shouldn’t get him too worked up.”
After everyone got Leonard settled in the room, Jennifer took them out.
Jennifer didn’t look good, either.
“Maxwell, couldn’t you just break it off with that Roxanne?”
Maxwell lowered his head and stayed silent.
Jennifer showed a disappointed look.
“Forget it, you’ve grown up too,” she said. “Now the whole Humphrey Group was in your hands. Everyone said you, Maxwell, led the Humphrey Group to hold down the Conway Group and the Wilkinson Group all by yourself. You were really impressive.”
“We old couple sure couldn’t control you.”
“But before you did a lot of things, could you think more about. Steph?”
“Steph was your wife, you were the one who kept saying you loved her. you were the one who said you wanted to marry her.”
“Didn’t you know how bad people were talking out there? Didn’t you think about Steph?”
Maxwell still kept his head down, his lips pressed tightly together.
Jennifer looked at him without saying anything, even more disappointed, and finally said, “I was going to go to the restaurant with you guys, but now you can go by yourselves.”
She held Stephanie’s hand tightly and looked at Maxwell with a face that said why can’t you do better.
But Leonard had already tried hitting and scolding, and now he really had no other way.
“Don’t leave the manor yet, your grandpa had something to tell you guys later.”
She paused for a moment, then stared at Maxwell and said, “Stay at the old house tonight, got it!”
Jennifer went to the room to take care of Leonard.
Stephanie and Maxwell walked toward the restaurant together.
This time Stephanie came over to explain the kid thing to Leonard.
After all, she was still Maxwell’s wife in name, and legally too. The sudden appearance of a child needed to be explained.
Just didn’t get a chance to say it yet.
Leonard didn’t have the energy to listen to her now, either.
Wait a bit first, when Leonard got a bit better and she went to find them, she could talk.
The shuttle bus drove all the way toward the restaurant.
Stephanie and Maxwell sat side by side, but there was a big gap between them.
No one spoke, the air was silent, only the lake reflected the cold moonlight.
There were several villas in Moon Manor, and Leonard, Maxwell’s father and his brothers, and Maxwell’s generation all had their own places here.
Leonard’s place was the main one. Usually, if it was just his family having a meal, they ate in their own villa. But if a lot of family members got together or they had guests, they chose to eat at the restaurant in the middle of the lake.
This time we went to that floating restaurant.
Heard that Maxwell and Stephanie were both back, plus the news online about Stephanie’s kid, so quite a few people were interested this time.
After all, if Maxwell really had an heir, whether the Humphrey family’s business structure would change was still unknown.
The shuttle stopped, Maxwell got off, then reached out to help Stephanie.
Stephanie glanced at that big open hand, ignored it, and got out of the

car to stand by herself.
The butler drove the car aside and parked it, and Stephanie walked into the small three–story postmodern building with Maxwell.
The whole first floor lobby was brightly lit. Food, champagne, and pastries were laid out nicely. In the center of the restaurant, there was a sunken water feature. A harpist surrounded by fresh flowers was
playing the harp, giving off an elegant vibe.
The two had just come in and already caught everyone’s attention.
“Max!”
First came a woman about 25 years old in a yellow–rose dress. She ran over and stopped in front of them.
She nodded at Stephanie, then smiled again and said to Maxwell. “Long time no see, Max!”
When the woman smiled, there were deep dimples on her face, and she looked really cute.
This was Maxwell’s cousin. Estrella Humphrey.
Just got back from studying at a top uni in Groena.
“Long time no see.” Maxwell nodded.
The waiter next to me brought the wine.
