Chapter 114
Stephanie looked at the place ahead, where a Bentley was parked, and there was a man standing next to the car.
Maxwell.
Tonight was bound to be anything but peaceful.
The shuttle bus quickly stopped at the designated spot, and Stephanie got off with her bag.
I just stood still, and someone had already landed beside me.
Without looking up, Stephanie knew it was Maxwell.
“Mr. Humphrey,” Edwin called
Maxwell waved his hand and told Edwin to leave first.
Stephanie didn’t say anything, and Maxwell didn’t either. The two of them just stood there quietly
Under the moonlight, it felt like there was an ocean between these two people who used to be the closest
Maxwell looked at Stephanie in front of him.

Her hair was up, not hanging down nicely like before. She wo different perfume, not the scent he knew. She wasn’t wearing her usual shoes either, but little high heels with thin heels.
Maxwell frowned a little. It was already late April, but she was still wearing a light coat.
Long time no see, she changed a lot.
“Cold?” After a long while, Maxwell suddenly spoke and reached out trying to hold her arm.
But she stepped back, and he just gave her arm a light squeeze before letting go.
This made him frown even more.
Why did the inside of the clothes feel so empty?
She got thinner?
Looking closely, it was like this. Her face was already small, and now that she had lost weight, she looked even more pitiful.
Stephanie pressed her lips together and didn’t answer Maxwell’s question. Instead, she took the initiative, “What’s up?”
Maxwell just remembered why he was waiting here
Thinking about it, he took a step forward
“What’s up with that kid?” Maxwell asked. “The word from the paparazzi was, she called you mom. When did you have a kid?” As he spoke, his eyes subconsciously glanced at her lower belly
“This is none of your business.” Stephanie didn’t answer directly
But Maxwell got mad.
“Stephanie,” he called her name, his voice cold. “we haven’t even gotten the divorce papers yet, and now you’re telling me you have a kid that has nothing to do with me?”
Stephanie turned her head to the other side and ignored his gaze.
“Where did the kid come from?” Maxwell pressed further, “All these years, we’ve done it so many times, but never had a kid, and now…”
“Enough.” Stephanie cut him off.
Maxwell wanted to say something else, but he saw the tears in her
eves.
She said. “Why didn’t we have a kid for so long before, don’t you know?”
Maxwell paused.
Lips were pressed tightly together.
He–remembered, many years ago, they had a child.
Back then, they were both still young. He couldn’t keep his hands off her body and coaxed her into passion every night.
He didn’t know any signs of pregnancy, and because she usually wasn’t in good health and her period was often irregular, she didn’t think about it either.
When she went to Groena to negotiate, they sent him away and started a bet–betting on guts, betting on lives. She jumped into the icy water without hesitation, got soaked all over, and just like that, the baby was gone.
When he pulled her out of the icy water, there was a lot of blood under her. He was already in time, but the baby was still gone.
At that time she was in his arms, but her eyes were fixed on the other person.
“You promised me,” she said.

The other person nodded.
He still remembered it was a late autumn night. The child was gone.. She blamed herself, curled up in his arms and cried her heart out. His heart broke too.
After that, her body was badly hurt. In the next few years, they were really into each other and had fun every night, but it was still hard for her to get pregnant.
All these years, he always wanted to have a kid with her. He worked hard in bed, because he craved her body, wanted to make up for what he missed back then, and it was also something he just couldn’t let go of.
It’s just, Maxwell wouldn’t know.
Actually, after they got married, they had a child.
But later, it was gone again.
Stephanie held back her sadness.
A lot of things happened in these seven years.
She could pick things up, and she could let them go.
They really loved each other before. She didn’t regret what she did. back then, but after she stopped loving him, she wouldn’t give anything
to him anymore.
No matter if it was things, the body, or the mind.
Didn’t want to say more, Stephanie lifted her foot and w
