ELEVEN: SEX BUCKET LIST
ELEVEN: SEX BUCKET LIST
Juliet had never had sex.
Not because she was particularly saving the big moment it was going to happen for the first time for someone special. But simply because she never had the time or opportunity to afford herself such luxury.
To her, sex or relationships was something she couldn’t afford- both financially and emotionally. Unlike most girls, she didn’t have the luxury to have the crush on celebrities or TV stars. Her first crush was a guy who paid for her lunch in high school. They kissed a couple of times cause it was fun but the moment he asked to come over, she was shoved back at her reality.
She couldn’t afford a crush. She couldn’t allow herself like someone else when she barely liked herself. Those emotions were a luxury she could barely afford. So even if she was to finally have sex with someone, it would be just something she ticked off her bucket list like her first kiss- no strings attached, no expectations. Just something that happened in the heat of the moment.
And up until few moments ago, she had concluded it was finally going to happen. Luckily for her, not with someone she actually had feelings for.
Until he suddenly refused to make that tick across her bucket list.
A soft sigh escaped her lips as she got up from the bed, tired of rolling over and over and barely getting any sleep. Hours had passed. Hours since Xavier tossed her clothes at her and turned around until she was done wearing them. Hours since she crawled back into her room in embarrassment and proceeded to drown in her thoughts while tossing and turning in bed.
The sound of her phone broke through the silence, Juliet glancing at the wall clock and immediately realizing she needed to get ready for school. She pulled the sheets away from her and in no time, did the same to her clothes, memories of how she stripped in front of Xavier the previous night assaulting.
With her eyes shut more than half the time, she got into the shower and took her bath. She got dressed, grabbed her bag and took her first step out of her room, scanning the hallways before she took another.
The house was empty to her relief, Juliet quickly taking advantage of it to head out as quietly as possible. She took the familiar route and found herself at school faster than she expected, immediately relying on her classes to help pass time.
Her four hours long class went by in a blur, Juliet barely able to concentrate the entire time. Her notebook pages contained no more than two lines of scribbling and even when she tried to make sense of what they meant, she failed at that.
“Juliet? Please tell me that’s you.”
Her thoughts were suddenly interrupted by a figure towering over her. Allowing the pen slip through her fingers, she raised her head to meet a familiar face staring at her, his eyebrows knitted in what seemed like worry.
“It is you,” his eyebrows returned to normal and almost immediately, he bent to pick up her pen. “Hey.”
“Hi, oh, thanks,” she muttered as she collected the pen from Wale, managing a smile. “Hey.”
“Remember me?” he quickly took the seat next to her. “Yesterday, we-”
“Of course, I remember you,” she almost laughed. “We spent almost an entire hour together yesterday, Wale.”
“Oh she even remembers my name,” a smile appeared on his face as he drew closer. He reached for his phone in his pocket and swiped it unlock, the smile slowly fading. “Then why didn’t you respond to any of my texts?”
“What?”
“I thought you’d either forgotten about me or didn’t want to talk to me.”
“What? No,” Juliet reached for her bag and pulled out her phone. “No, it’s nothing like that. Yesterday was just- I had a busy day. Sorry, I didn’t realize you texted.”
“I’ll accept your apology as long as you texted me back.”
“Done,” she waved the replied text in his face. “Am I forgiven now?”
“Mhm mhm,” he glanced at his phone to confirm. “Yes, you are.”
She dropped her phone on the table and nodded, glancing at her open notebook. Quickly flipping it closed before he could take a peak, she grabbed her bag and shoved it into it.
“Are you okay though?” he spoke up as she returned her phone to her bag too. “Yesterday, you left- I mean, the way you had to leave suddenly. I don’t want to pry in case its something private but are you okay?”
“Yes, I am,” she lied. “It’s nothing serious.”
“Are-”
“How about you, are you fine?” she asked before he could ask any further questions.
“If you say you’re fine then I am too,” he nodded. “I think I’m a bit hungry though. Have you had lunch? Do you want us to grab lunch together?”
“Um, I’m not really hungry,” she bit her lip. “You can go ahead without me.”
He didn’t move and instead stared at her like she was some mystery he was hoping to unravel right at that spot.
“Is there something on your mind?”
She shook her head. What could she tell him anyways? The truth?
“Actually, I think I’m now hungry,” she’d rather force herself to eat than talk about what was going on in my head. “Let’s grab lunch together.”
He didn’t argue any further and immediately rose to his feet, helping her with her bag as she walked behind him. He led the way out of the classroom and just as they took their first step out of the building, Juliet froze behind him.
It took him a couple of seconds to realize she’d suddenly stopped walking. But in the short span of those seconds, Juliet had managed to quickly come up with a new excuse. One that would ensure he didn’t notice Carlos or the same black car from the previous day parked right in front of the building.
“I’m so sorry, Wale but can we grab lunch together some other time?” she flashed him her rehearsed sympathetic smile. “I just remembered I have something urgent to do. Right now.”
“Oh,” he look disappointed as he returned her bag to her. “Um, it’s okay. You don’t have to apologize.”
“I’m sorry.”
He smiled and then nodded, ensuring she promised to reply his texts later before allowing her to go. making a mental note to do so, she walked back into the building and waited until he was completely out of sight before heading out to meet Carlos.
“Miss Bailey?”
“What are you doing here?” she stood in front of him. “Why are you here?”
“Sir De Luca’s orders,” he raised his brow. “I’m to drive you to school and back to-”
“The club?” she cut him off. “Are you here to drive me to the club again?”
“No, I’m not,” he shook his head. “I’m here to drive you home. To the mansion.”
She let out a sigh and ran her hands through her hair. What was Xavier thinking? What exactly did he have in mind to do with her this time?
“I-”
She wanted to object. Or at least demand what was going on. But before she could, she spotted the dark familiar curls that belonged to Wale and immediately turned around.
“Fine,” she got into the car with a speed like never before. “Let’s go home.”
Home.
