Chapter 59 Bobby Baker

Chapter 59 Bobby Baker
Xavier’s Point of View
“Xavier and I go way back.” Bobby Baker said with a small grin, and I balled my hands at my side into fists.
Bobby Baker is the son of Grant Baker, a very close friend and acquaintance of my father, with whom they are in the same social gatherings and clubs, and they go way back.
Bobby and I… no, we don’t.
He is just someone I’m unfortunate to meet because his father knew my father.
“What the hell do you want, Bobby?” I asked curiously.
While I remain in this school, I was hoping to stay away from all the toxic kids of my father’s friendship circle, which was the reason I chose to remain in the shared dorm, away from their influence and rich kids’ bullshit.
And that was the reason I stayed away from Christian.
That was the reason I remained just Xavier… not Xavier Blackwood… just Xavier.
I never even told my friends or roommates who I really am, because I would like to maintain this simplicity and anonymity that I had created for myself.
Because poor people only get along well with other poor people, I would admit that ever since I found my real father, things have been going smoothly for me.
I didn’t lack anything.
I never had to stay hungry, and I was given the latest things even before I asked.
But it still doesn’t change the fact that I was a bastard, the child of a maid, and someone like me is what society doesn’t even want to see.
“No, you’re mistaken.” Bobby shook his head, coming even closer. I stepped forward, instinctively, standing between Bobby and Lana. “I’m not here for you; I came to see him.”
My eyes darted quickly towards Lana, who seemed confused throughout the conversation.
“Do you know him?” I asked Lana, who nodded, her beautiful doe eyes wide with worry. “Well, good, now you don’t know him anymore.” I grabbed her hands and pulled her off.
“Come on,” Bobby followed us. “Don’t act like you don’t know me.”
“Bobby… If you keep following me, I will have no choice but to report you to the principal for harassment.”
“I won’t be following you around if you let me just talk to him.” He stood in front of us now, and my jaw clenched. “Right, Alan?”
“I don’t understand what is going on?” She finally asked. “Xavier, is there any reason why I shouldn’t talk to him?”
Yes, there are a lot of reasons, but telling her now would mean I have to tell her everything, even about my relationship with Christian. I glared at Bobby, who smirked calmly, slipping his hands in his pockets.
“What do you want with Alan?” I then decided to ask instead. “What do you mean?” Bobby feigned ignorance. “I want to talk to a schoolmate of mine that I helped once before. Is there anything wrong with that?”
My eyes flickered back towards Alan.
“He helped you?”
She nodded.
“Yes, on the first day of resumption, he helped me locate the dorm.” She answered. “He didn’t seem like a bad person. I’ll just talk to him really quick, don’t worry.”
Before I could stop her, she broke free from my grip and walked towards Bobby, who led her along the hallway.
I wanted to go after her, but I just couldn’t.
The worst person to be suspicious of Lana is Bobby…
I stood my ground, my arms folding as I watched them from this distance, waiting for something inappropriate to happen, so I could finally find the excuse to deal with Bobby, but there wasn’t.
They talked, and Lana smiled softly.
It was impossible to hear what they were talking about, and they stood too far away that I couldn’t read their lips.
After a few minutes, Lana rushed back towards me, the smile on her face fading as she got closer.
“Hey.” She murmured.
“What did Bobby talk to you about?” I asked curiously.
“Nothing serious.” She replied. “He wanted to know if I was still having problems with Christian.”
My heart stopped in my chest.
I hope he isn’t having any ideas about my brother again, because this time, I swear to kill him for good. “Did he say anything about Christian?” I asked again, and Lana’s eyes flickered suspiciously towards me. “And how the hell did he know you had problems with Christian?”
Was he interested in Lana? And he is just trying to know if she is usually around Christian, or if he was still after Christian.
“You know the day I arrived here; he saw what transpired between Christian and me, and he was quite worried that I owed Christian a lot of money.” She explained. “He says he has been trying to find me, but he couldn’t, but now someone told him that I’m on the volleyball team, so he came looking for me.”
My eyes narrowed.
“Why was he looking for you?” I asked again.
“He wanted to help me pay up my debt with Christian.” She responded. “He wanted us to meet up with Christian, so he could transfer the money to him.”
“That fucking bastard.” I cursed out loud. “What did you tell him?”
Lana shook her head.
“I only met the dude once, I’m not about to stack up new favors, especially from someone I don’t know.” She then pointed at me. “You seem to have a bad history with him. Tell me about it.”
“There is nothing much to discuss, just know this, Bobby is a very bad person.” I grabbed her shoulders, holding her tightly, as I said with all the seriousness I could muster. “You should never speak to him again, you should never meet up with him again, and you should never let him know what dorm room Christian is staying in.”
Her eyes were still wide with worry. “Do you understand me?” I asked her curiously, and she nodded.
“In the event you find yourself alone with him, do all that you can to call me.” I unhanded her. “With that being said, I should be your speed dial as of today.”
