Chapter 39 Just Me
Lana’s Point of View
“Get away from the door, Christian,” Xavier warned, his voice a low growl, and even from the way he grabbed my wrists with so much domination and ownership—I couldn’t even struggle. “I won’t say it twice.”
“You have no business removing her from here.” Christian remained his usual nonchalant self, with an unserious smile playing on his face. And I felt kind of guilty that they were both fighting because of me; it feels like I am the reason for the rift between them. “She doesn’t need help, and I am sure she is sensible enough to make her own decision—if she wanted to leave, she would have.”
I glared at Christian, he noticed, and then winked at me in response.
“I had it in mind to come look for you, but thank you for saving me the stress.” The smile on Christian’s face disappeared almost immediately. “Alan is mine, and I would appreciate you getting your dirty hands off her.”
My cheeks grew hotter by the second. There was this level of possessiveness in his eyes, one that released the butterflies in my belly.
Xavier’s grip on my wrist tightened; I could feel just how irritated he was by it.
“I would just take her back, and so you crawl back into whatever hellhole you came from.”
Christian reached forward, trying to grab me, when Xavier suddenly drove his fist into Christian’s face. The shock of the hit pushed him so far back that his back connected to the door. My eyes widened almost immediately because it happened so suddenly and so fast.
Xavier was a quiet person.
In fact, he was too quiet, but I had always caught a whiff of restraint when I got closer to him—too many times, he seemed to be restraining himself from doing a lot of things, and he was also very aggressive.
Seems like the kind of person who wouldn’t hesitate to throw a punch, if he was pushed to the extreme—and he did.
“Shit.” Christian cursed as he brought his fingers forward to wipe off the blood from his nose. He chuckled. “Damn, that fucking hurts.”
“No,” I screamed when Christian suddenly dived forward, grappling Xavier by the hips, both of their hard bodies slammed against me, before they crashed into the ground with Christian on top.
He punched hard, and Xavier raised his arms, shielding each side of his face, and my mouth fell open, unsure of what to say or do.
“You both should stop it.” I grabbed Christian’s shirt, trying to pull him off, but he didn’t even budge; it was like trying to roll off a boulder. “Christian, please stop!”
Xavier bucked his hips, his legs knocked me off my feet, I fell back on my ass, but before I could get up, Xavier had rolled Christian over to his back and was pummeling his face.
It was Christian’s turn to duck and protect himself, but they were both bleeding, either from their nose or lips.
Skin around their eyes was cut, and I was torn between dashing out of the dorm room to go find help, but if I did that, we would be on probation, and anything that makes me the center of attention is exactly what I was trying to avoid.
But if I don’t do anything, they are going to kill themselves.
“Stop! No, NO—Just stop!” I screamed again, and only then did they stop—at least for a minute. I finally stopped to catch my breath. “I like you—both of you, and I hate the fact that I can’t choose—so just stop it.”
After hearing my confession, Christian pushed Xavier from on top of him and then rolled himself upward. “You like us both, and can’t choose?” He grinned, showing me a bit of blood on his very sharp and straight teeth that used to be pearly white. His gaze flickered towards Xavier, mocking. “Guess who is going to steal your girl?”
With his jaw clenched, Xavier got up from his knees and grabbed my wrists, dragging me out of the dorm room.
“Xavier!” I called him, but he said nothing; he walked me along the empty hallways—probably because most of the students were in their classrooms.
“Ah,” I felt air knocked out of my lungs when Xavier slammed me hard against the wall. “What did I tell you about Christian?”
“Um, nothing actually,” I confessed. He never said I couldn’t do anything with Christian; the only thing that has been bothering me was my own conscience, and nothing more.
He held my gaze, all sorts of emotions running through those lovely green eyes of his. “You wanted me to pay you back for keeping my secret, is that not the reason we are involved with each other?” I asked curiously. “You have never linked your interest in me to your emotions or feelings—Whatever we had was transactional.”
“And you think that was the reason I am always looking out for you?” He asked, his voice cracking with a thick emotion. “Would I come looking for you, if all I was doing was lusting after you?”
“I don’t know,” I was tired of guessing, or thinking, if there is anyone who can clarify things, it’s him. “You tell me.”
“I’m interested in you, Alan.” He confessed. “And this isn’t just an ordinary interest, I have been interested ever since I set my eyes on you, even before I knew you were a girl.”
My heart pounded heavily in my chest, and he grabbed my jaw roughly.
“And it fills me with so much anger and jealousy that you spent the night with that bastard, and you even confessed to having feelings for him.”
I bit down on my lips, and Xavier’s thumb quickly separated the skin of my lips from my teeth.
“Don’t do that, love,” He warned me. “It makes me want to bite you.”
My breath hitched, unsure of what to say.
“Since you’re uncertain, I am not going to force you; I will also try my hardest to make sure you choose me.” He seemed very confident. “But do know this, I am very territorial; once you choose me, it will be just me, and no one else.”
