CHAPTER 68
JEREMY'S POV
EVERYTHING FALLS APART
Richard was smirking when he entered the sitting room. I've not been feeling well, so I took the day off. He had this stupid self satisfied grin, plastered on his face like he's waiting to cause trouble all morning.
“Bro,” Richard drawled. “You should keep a lease on your woman.”
I didn't look at him. “Stop talking to me.”
“Oh you should.” Richard got in front of me and he shoved his phone in my face. “You need to see this. Unless, of course, you love being embarrassed.”
I shot him a warning glare, but the video on his phone was already playing.
I looked at the screen and I saw Lana. Butt naked, very active and willing with her boyfriend. Her laugh, her voice, her hands on him, her body moving with flexible ease.
I didn't blink at all. I couldn't breathe properly, because the betrayal was painful, because I loved being exclusive with my women.
Richard chuckled with delight. “Lana's quite flexible, Bro. You should have that in mind.”
I tightened my jaw. “Turn it off, or I'll kill you.”
His smile faltered but he shrugged. “I'll do that, Bro. No hard feelings.”
I walked away before I broke his nose. I wasn't heart broken because it was over between us. My anger was cold and deadly, Lana has no idea what's coming for her.
I knew where I'm going to find her. So I drove to the library, and had to see notifications and texts from people who had seen her video. How could she do this to me? Who records themselves having sex, and posts it online?
I got to the library and opened the door, it was packed and I followed the voice to see Lana. She was about to hit Grace, so I stopped her.
“Lana, that's enough.” I said in a dark voice.
She spun around, her hair wild, her makeup smudged. “Jeremy, she posted that clip online.” she whined shamelessly.
“Move aside,” I repeated to her.
She froze at my tone, I ignored her and walked towards Grace, and Lily watched with happiness.
I touched her arm, and she flinched. “Are you hurt?”
Grace removed my hand, before she could respond Lana shrieked.
“Jay, why are you talking to her, like she's a victim? I am the…..”
I didn't look at her. “Get out, and wait by the car.”
Lana stormed out hysterical, and slammed the door so hard the shelves shook.
“Jeremy, you should leave.” Grace whispered and left me.
As I walked towards my car, I didn't see Lana in my car. My phone buzzed and I swiped to pick it up.
“Mr Meyers, we're calling to verify the large sum transfer from your secondary credit card.”
“What transfer?” I was shocked.
“The 10 thousand dollars, to Tony Freeman.”
My stomach dropped because I couldn't remember any money transfer.
“Give me the location.” I told him, my voice calm.
The banker hesitated. “Sir, do you suspect foul play?”
“The location now.”
My pulse quickened and I thought it had to be Lana.
“Freeze that card,” I said. “Notify me of another attempt.”
“Yes sir,” I hung up.
My phone rang again before I could even get into my car. Lily's name flashed on the screen.
“Lily.”
“Officer Jeremy,” she began. “You need to control your girlfriend.”
“What did she do?” I asked as my head throbbed.
“She's been attacking Grace. She's everywhere, grabbing her hair and screaming in her face.”
“I didn't know about this.” I said feeling anger.
“She's traumatizing her all over again.” Lily blurted out.
“What are you talking about?” I asked her interested.
“Uhm, I didn't say anything.” she says.
“Lily, I'm going to come back. And……”
“Jeremy,” she paused. “Ryan raped her.”
The floor shifted beneath me, I couldn't breathe.
“I'm not supposed to say anything. Me and my big mouth. She didn't want to tell you.” Lily laments.
“Two weeks ago,” she says immediately.
Someone hurt Grace, my sweet gentle Grace.
“Jeremy, don't,” Lily begged me. “Don't ask her about it. She's barely keeping it together.”
I nodded and hung up the phone. Anger filled me that I wanted to find Ryan, and riddle his cowardly body with bullets.
I went to the lake and stayed there for the entire day. Just watching the water, the waves and the people. Once it was dark enough I drove to Grace's house.
I knocked once with no response, and I knocked the second time.
“Grace, just open the door.” I said while knocking the third time.
I heard her whisper behind the door. “Go away, Jeremy.”
“No,” I leaned against the door. “I need to see you.”
“I don't want to,” her voice broke. “Not like this, I'm tired.”
I swallowed hard. “I should've been there. I should've protected you.”
“You couldn't do anything.” she whispered back.
Grace didn't open the door, but I could hear her crying painfully.
I pressed my forehead on the door. “Grace, just open the door.”
The moment the door cracked open, I heard footsteps behind me. And Lana appeared like she was summoned.
Grace immediately locked the door again. Lana shoved me and banged on the door like a mad woman.
“Grace, open this door. Stop playing the victim card.” she yelled.
I grabbed her wrist. “That's enough.”
She ripped her hand away. “No, I'm not going to stop. This little…..”
“Little what?” I asked, warning her in a cold voice. “one more word, and I'll make you regret it.”
She blinked hard like I just slapped her.
“Oh nice,” she says, clapping. “You're choosing that tramp over me?”
I could hear Grace's sobs from the door. This sound broke my heart into tiny bits.
“Lana, I'm choosing sanity!” I yelled back to her.
“Jay, you're choosing wrongly.” she hissed and stormed off hysterically. She was screaming, dramatic and destructive.
I didn't follow her, I just stood there at the door. Just wishing that Grace will open the door for me.
“Grace,” I muttered, my voice was breaking terribly, like it hasn't in a long time. “I'm not giving up on you.”
There was long silence before my phone buzzed. And my dad's number flashed on my screen.
I swiped and picked. “Jeremy, you get over here now.”
