Chapter 99: The Truth
Barry beside her frowned and said, "I can vouch for this too. It was Mia who saved you with acupuncture."
Ava raised her eyebrows slightly, looked at Barry, paused for a moment, then turned her gaze to Mia. "Acupuncture?"
"That's right. I discovered long ago that Mia knows acupuncture, and I've also seen the prescription Mia wrote for Mr. Thomas. These are all evidence that Mia cured Mr. Thomas." Seeing his student being slandered, Barry naturally couldn't stand for it and said with a stern face.
Mia stood to the side with her head down, her hands clenched tightly. Hearing what Barry said, her pupils shrank. She had no idea about acupuncture, but since Barry said so, she naturally wouldn't say she didn't know how at this moment, or else wouldn't everything be exposed?
Silence meant agreement.
No matter what, she had to get through this crisis first, then settle the score with Ava properly later.
Hearing this, Ava gave a mocking laugh. "Whether Mia knows acupuncture or not, I don't know, but is this the prescription you're talking about?"
Mia suddenly looked up to see Ava pull out a complete prescription from her bag. Her eyes filled with terror as she cried out, "Mr. Myers..."
Mia's sharp cry immediately drew everyone's attention.
Joshua's cold gaze also swept over to Mia.
Mia was truly terrified of Joshua today. That one look scared her into silence.
Barry had already taken the drug analysis report. Hearing Mia's cry, he looked at her suspiciously. Mia's eyes darted around in their sockets, but she couldn't say anything.
Trying to stop him would only make her look guilty.
Damn that bitch Ava for having a backup copy. Damn it, absolutely damn it.
Her whole body went cold, the chill from her heart spreading throughout her body, making her tremble slightly.
Seeing Mia say nothing, Barry focused on the prescription. Suddenly he froze. "This... whose prescription is this for?"
Ava's delicate features turned cold. "Grandpa's."
"What?" Barry frowned tightly. "Although each medicine on this prescription treats heart disease, the dosages are way too high. How many people could handle this? Who wrote this? This could kill someone! Who wrote it?" Barry had practiced medicine all his life and was an upright person who absolutely wouldn't allow anyone to harm patients like this.
Ava raised her eyebrows and said lightly, "Your good student."
Barry frowned again and angrily slammed the paper on the table. "Impossible. This wasn't written by Mia. I saw the one Mia wrote - that was a perfect prescription, not this one."
Ava nodded as expected, took out paper and pen, and began writing on the spot. Soon she handed a prescription to Barry. "Is this the one you saw?"
Barry looked at her with puzzled eyes, glanced at it, and confirmed this was indeed what he had seen at the time. He looked at Ava with complicated eyes. "Yes, that's it. How did you know?"
"Because she plagiarized my prescription." The pale-faced Mia struck first, shouting loudly and directly accusing Ava.
Ava wouldn't let her make false accusations.
Ava remained calm, smiling sweetly. "Really? Then please write out the prescription you claim I plagiarized from you."
Ava slapped blank paper and pen in front of Mia and raised her hand. "Go ahead."
Mia panicked and stepped back twice. "I..."
"What, can't write it out?"
"I... forgot it. Besides, after all this time, who would remember it so clearly? Ava, you plagiarized mine, that's why you remember this prescription so clearly." Mia angrily pointed at Ava, gritting her teeth in anger.
Ava calmly nodded, having expected Mia to deny it to the death. She smiled and said, "Fine, no problem."
"You're saying this prescription wasn't written by you." Ava held up the printed copy, paused, then picked up her handwritten one. "And this one I plagiarized from you, right?"
Mia's chest heaved violently as she glared at Ava and said stubbornly, "That's right."
"Good." Ava nodded.
Ava stood up and placed her phone on the table.
Seeing Ava's action, Mia didn't know what she was up to or what other evidence she might have. She stared at her warily. "What are you trying to do now?"
"Why are you panicking?"
"I'm not panicking."
"Don't worry, you will be soon."
Mia narrowed her eyes, racking her brain trying to figure out what other evidence Ava might have.
But no matter how hard she thought, she couldn't figure it out. Finally, she snorted coldly, deciding that Ava was deliberately trying to trick her and had no evidence at all.
She used this reasoning to force herself to calm down.
"Ava, whatever you do is pointless. Don't try to confuse things and frame me."
Ava smiled slightly and didn't respond.
Ava tapped her phone, and suddenly a voice filled the room.
"Grandpa's body is weak and can only be nourished gradually. You're pouring such large doses into his body - it's like a balloon. It needs air, but it can't handle an overload of air. Once it's too much, explosion is the only outcome."
"Mia, you claim to have excellent medical skills - how could you not know this basic fact? I don't believe it. What are you trying to do? Are you trying to kill Victor?"
"What nonsense are you talking about? I didn't. Don't you dare slander me."
"Whether I'm talking nonsense or not, you know in your heart. You can't escape this. Ask any doctor to look at this, and you won't be able to explain yourself."
"No, Ava, don't you dare."
"Get out of the way."
"Ava, if you want to expose me, dream on. Everyone knows I've been working hard to treat Grandpa. Who would believe what you say? So what if you have this report? How do we know you didn't deliberately forge it to frame me? Ava, give it up. No one will believe you."
"Get lost."
"Ava!"
