Chapter 94 Let Her Be Too Busy to Care
Thora looked smug, as if Hawk was praising her. "You don't need to tell me that. I figured it out ages ago."
Hawk pointed at Thora helplessly and said indulgently, "You, you... finally did something right."
As expected, Dean soon came to Hawk's office and talked to him about Mia, going on and on with explanations.
Hawk suppressed his anger and asked, "You seem particularly concerned about Mia."
Under Hawk's sharp gaze, cold sweat broke out on Dean's forehead. He immediately raised his voice to explain, "Dad, I just don't want any doctor in our department to be wrongly accused. She wasn't wrong in this matter. I would help anyone else the same way I'm helping Dr. Wilson."
Hawk snorted coldly to himself. He didn't know Dean was such a good actor before.
Seeing Hawk remain silent for a long time, Dean got a bit nervous. He raised his hand to wipe the cold sweat from his forehead, afraid that Hawk would detect something unusual.
The prolonged psychological battle broke Dean down. He tentatively asked, "Dad..."
Finally, Hawk said coldly, "Fine, I got it."
Dean was secretly delighted, already thinking about going back to claim credit from Mia. He didn't notice Hawk's gritted teeth at all. Seeing that Hawk agreed, he said gratefully, "Thank you, Dad."
This fake "Dad" made Hawk feel disgusted. He waved his hand irritably, "Alright, go."
Dean nodded. After taking two steps, he turned back to look at Hawk. He vaguely felt something was off about Hawk, but he couldn't put his finger on what exactly. The main thing was that Hawk had agreed to speak up and clear things up for Mia, and that was enough.
As soon as Dean left, Hawk's expression changed drastically. "How shameless, making a mistake in surgery and pushing it onto Ava. Does he think everyone's an idiot?"
At that moment in the hospital, Finn and Cleo's small figures were moving through the corridor.
"Finn, have you located where Mommy is?"
"Almost there." Finn suddenly stopped. "Look, it's Mommy."
Finn's sharp eyes spotted Ava ahead, who had her back to them at that moment.
Cleo's heart leaped with joy and she ran toward Ava.
Finn suddenly grabbed Cleo. "Wait, look."
"Mia?"
Mia was walking toward Ava.
"Let's listen to what Mia says to Mommy."
Cleo nodded. "Okay."
The two children immediately hid around the corner.
Seeing Mia looking fully recovered, Ava smiled to herself. It seemed Hawk had agreed to speak up for her.
"Ava, do you think you've won? It's just one surgery. What are you so proud of?"
Ava smiled. "Am I being proud?" She deliberately paused, looking nonchalant. "You noticed that? I'm so sorry."
"You!" Mia clenched her fists, gritting her teeth, her face twisted with anger.
Ava smiled lightly. "Instead of wasting time being upset in front of me, you should hurry up and figure out how to fix your mistakes. Don't you think?"
Ava walked past Mia indifferently. Mia grabbed her hand in embarrassment and anger. "I'm not done talking."
Ava frowned, her voice turning colder. "Then keep talking. I'm leaving first."
"...I was careless this time. I won't let you go. Don't get cocky. Just you wait." Mia warned viciously.
But these warnings seemed ridiculous to Ava.
Ava shook off Mia's hand and left directly, clearly not wanting to waste another word on her.
"All Mia does all day is cause trouble for Mommy." Cleo clenched her little fists angrily.
Finn looked down in thought without saying anything. Cleo looked at Finn puzzled. "Finn, what are you thinking?"
"It's not a solution for Mia to keep causing trouble for Mommy every day. Mommy's already busy with work, and she has to watch out for Mia too." Finn frowned.
"Right, and we haven't settled the score with her for last time yet."
A gleam flashed in Finn's bright eyes, as if he had already thought of a solution. "Then let's keep her so busy with her own problems that she won't have time to bother Mommy."
Cleo totally agreed with Finn's idea. The two children quietly plotted together, finally reached an agreement, and immediately took action.
Mia's mind was a mess right now. Although things had improved slightly, Ava had become famous because of this incident. The video of that surgery was praised by everyone, and even Barry thought highly of her. This was a huge threat to her.
Why?
Why did Ava deserve such treatment? All of this should have been hers.
Mia was plotting a new scheme to sabotage Ava when she bumped right into Cleo.
Cleo stood right in front of her, her cute little face smiling, waving at Mia. "Hello, miss. Do you remember me?"
Mia was annoyed and glanced at Cleo. She looked familiar. She didn't plan to pay attention to a kid, but then she suddenly remembered something, and her gaze fixed on Cleo again.
Her eyes widened with anger. "It's you."
The little girl who had framed her in front of everyone that day, causing her to be criticized by so many people.
Mia had been so angry that day. If Joshua hadn't been there and she didn't need to pretend to be gentle and virtuous, she would have loved to slap Cleo twice for daring to frame her.
Now seeing Cleo, Mia's already irritated mood got even worse.
She stepped forward two steps and said unkindly, "How could I forget you? You little kid framed me so badly."
