Chapter 87: Want to Pursue Ava, Asked Us If We Agree
Ava's eyes suddenly trembled, and her heartbeat went off rhythm.
After a long while, Ava finally came back to her senses. Her hand, casually resting on the table, tightened a bit, looking somewhat at a loss.
"You want to pursue Mommy? Did you ask if we agree?"
Just then, two voices rang out.
The two children had somehow entered the hospital room and were now standing with their hands on their hips, glaring fiercely at Joshua.
Clearly, Finn and Cleo were angry about Joshua's distrust of Ava yesterday.
Joshua raised his eyebrows slightly, his gaze softening as he looked at the two children, though he also felt a bit of a headache. "I need your permission to pursue her?"
"Of course." Finn and Cleo nodded very seriously. "If you want to pursue Mommy, you have to get past us first. Otherwise, don't even think about it."
"What are your requirements?" Joshua asked flatly.
"That depends on what you do. Right now, your score with us is negative," Finn said.
"That's right. We don't want a daddy who bullies Mommy," Cleo added.
Joshua frowned. So basically, he was terrible and didn't even rank in their hearts!
"But I'm still your father," Joshua said, and why was there a hint of pride in his tone?
Ava helplessly raised her hand to cover her face, completely speechless.
"You're the man Mommy doesn't want."
Finn said it without hesitation, bluntly exposing Joshua's stubbornness.
Joshua's face darkened.
Ava, listening from the side, couldn't help but laugh out loud. The next moment, Joshua's gloomy eyes swept over to her.
Ava coughed lightly, feeling a bit awkward as she looked away, then turned to Finn and Cleo and waved them over.
The two children rushed into Ava's arms from both sides.
Ava helplessly tapped Finn and Cleo's little noses and said with a smile, "Alright, stop it. After all, you're related by blood. It wouldn't be good to make him die of anger."
Joshua, who had been verbally attacked repeatedly, kept a dark expression but said nothing. He actually had no way to deal with the three of them.
"You're being discharged the day after tomorrow. I'll come pick you up. Don't go anywhere."
Ava looked up at him. "I can manage on my own. You don't need to come."
"I'm not asking for your opinion."
"..."
Over the next few days, the two children came to keep her company as soon as school was out. The hospital room was lively and noisy, and Ava didn't feel bored at all.
Mia, however, became increasingly smug at the hospital. Because Ava was hospitalized and couldn't work, she took on several surgeries and worked perfectly with Dean. They were called the best partners, and her status rose significantly. Ava could hear rumors everywhere she went about how Mia was very likely to be the next chief of cardiac surgery.
Good family background, high education, excellent skills, beautiful and kind-hearted, always maintaining a perfect image, and Barry's student. She had worked at the hospital for five years without any major mistakes, and was also a cardiac surgeon and team leader.
The Wilson family, learning about this round of department chief selection, donated equipment to the hospital with great fanfare, earning widespread praise. No matter how you looked at it, Mia seemed to be the hot candidate for chief this time.
Ava quietly listened to several nurses chatting, a faint smile playing at the corners of her mouth, then walked back to her room.
Today she was being discharged. Her injury had mostly healed. This afternoon, Maeve was sending someone to deliver the precious medicinal herbs she had borrowed last time. Ava had to go to the airport to pick them up herself. After all, the herbs were valuable and she had to receive them personally and protect them. She also had to go to the Thomas Villa tonight.
Ava packed up her things and left the hospital room. She didn't have much.
The sunshine outside was particularly nice today. Ava let out a long sigh. After lying in a hospital bed for several days, breathing fresh air and seeing bright sunshine, Ava's mood naturally improved quite a bit.
"Ms. Davis, are you being discharged today?"
Just then, a discordant voice rang out, cutting Ava's good mood in half.
Mia walked over with a gentle smile. After several days of silence, she didn't feel the slightest bit guilty facing Ava, as if she really wasn't the one who had pushed her down the stairs. She was dressed elegantly, looking more and more pleased with herself.
Ava's expression was calm, her hands in her pockets, her indifferent gaze falling on Mia. She didn't respond.
Mia mistook Ava's unwillingness to engage with her as envy and jealousy.
Thinking this, Mia raised her chin even higher with satisfaction. "Ava, why don't you stay a few more days? Is your injury really healed? After all, it was a head injury. You should be more careful."
Mia frowned slightly, earnestly advising Ava as if she really cared about her.
But the smugness hidden in her eyes didn't escape Ava's notice at all.
Ava raised her eyebrows, a mocking smile playing at her lips, her voice cool as she said, "Thanks for your concern, Ms. Wilson. Don't worry, I'm doing great. And whatever Ms. Wilson has given me, I'll definitely return double."
