Chapter 83: Collecting Evidence, Won't Let Her Go

Chapter 83 Collecting Evidence, Won't Let Her Go

"Joshua," Mia bit her lip, looking at Joshua with utmost pitifulness. "Ms. Davis really wronged me this time. I would never do something so terrible, no matter what. I don't know why Ms. Davis said I pushed her, why she would frame me..."

"This isn't your fault. She's in a bad mood right now, don't hold it against her." Joshua glanced at her, his expression cold, his tone flat.

Mia listened carefully but couldn't detect any concern for her in Joshua's tone. She lowered her head and sighed, looking utterly wronged. Hearing Joshua say this, she could only leave for now. The moment she turned around, a triumphant, sinister smile appeared on her face.

"I'm so angry, she's such a good actress." Isabella was furious, pacing back and forth.

Ava's expression remained calm, hiding all her emotions. She reached into her bag beside her and pulled out a small voice recorder and a complete ingredient test report.

Isabella's eyes flickered as she looked at what Ava was holding. "What's this?"

"When dealing with shameless people, I naturally have to be prepared." From the moment the test results came out, Ava knew there was a good chance Mia would deny everything. After all, she had gained Ursa's trust for so many years. Even if she presented this evidence to them, they might not believe it.

So when she discovered Lyra was following her, she deliberately didn't expose it, just to let Mia find out.

When people are most panicked, they'll say anything, which makes it easier to get evidence.

That's why she had prepared this voice recorder early on.

"Wait, Ava, if you had evidence, why didn't you show it just now? Prove it to Joshua." After listening to the recording, Isabella was both angry and confused.

Ava narrowed her eyes slightly, a hint of bitterness flashing through her clear eyes.

"Where are Finn and Cleo?"

"Don't worry, Sabrina's watching them at home. I didn't want the kids to worry, so I didn't tell them..."

"Mommy, are you still trying to hide things from us?" Two voices rang out at the door.

Ava froze and turned toward the door to see her two children standing there, looking at her with particular anger.

Ava and Isabella exchanged glances, both unable to help but twitch their lips. She knew these two smart kids couldn't be fooled.

"It's wrong for Mommy to hide things from us. We'll worry. And Isabella, your acting is really bad." Finn and Cleo each climbed onto Ava's hospital bed from either side.

Isabella was rather helpless. "How did you two kids drag me into this?"

Being around two high-IQ children wasn't easy for her. Nothing escaped their eyes, which put her in a difficult position too.

"Does it hurt, Mommy?"

"It doesn't hurt, I'm fine." Ava pulled both children into her arms, comforting them gently.

"Liar, Mommy is clearly not fine. Mia hurt Mommy, didn't she?" Finn asked very seriously.

Ava paused, and Finn immediately said, "We already know, Mommy, don't try to fool us."

As he spoke, Finn pulled out a USB drive from his little pocket.

Ava looked doubtful. "What's this?"

"Surveillance evidence."

"Didn't Joshua say there was no surveillance evidence?" Isabella asked in surprise.

"It was destroyed by Mia."

Finn had hacked into the Thomas Villa's surveillance system. The footage looked like it had broken naturally, but a closer look revealed signs of tampering. When Finn investigated further, he found the surveillance had been deliberately destroyed. Although it's hard to recover destroyed surveillance video, that didn't stop Finn.

Ava's heart stirred, her eyes shining as she looked at Finn.

"Amazing, Finn! You could recover this? I'm completely in awe." Isabella hugged Finn and planted a big kiss on his cheek.

"Mommy, Finn has found all the evidence. What do we do next?" They definitely couldn't let Mia get away with this!

"Thank you both. Leave the rest to me, okay?"

Ava naturally wouldn't let Mia off. She had to settle all of this, for Victor, and for herself.

...

That evening, Isabella took the two children home. They reluctantly held onto Ava's hands, and it took Ava quite a bit of coaxing to get them to go home and sleep.

The hospital room was empty. Ava leaned against the bed, her cool gaze unconsciously drifting toward the window where moonlight filtered in. She looked somewhat tired and closed her eyes.

Just then, the hospital room door was quietly opened, and a tall, upright figure walked in through the darkness.

Hearing the sound, Ava's eyelashes trembled. Finally, she opened her eyes and sighed silently.

The room was filled with an icy atmosphere.

By the moonlight, Ava could only make out Joshua's tall, straight silhouette, but she could imagine how cold his face, hidden in the darkness, must be.

Earlier today, Mia had been wronged here. Given Mia's nature, she would definitely cry to Joshua and complain about her grievances.

It was obvious Joshua had come to get justice for Mia.
