Chapter 81: Dare to Harm Ava, My Slaps Are Enough

Chapter 81 Dare to Harm Ava, My Slaps Are Enough

Joshua narrowed his eyes. Not sure if he believed her or not, he said nothing, just glanced at Mia with his deep, unreadable gaze.

Mia looked genuinely scared, tears streaming down her face. She bit her lip hard, playing the innocent victim to perfection. "Joshua, are you doubting me?"

Seeing her like that, Joshua softened a bit. The situation wasn't clear yet, and Mia had been really anxious telling him to save Ava. Without her today, Ava would probably be in serious danger. Though he had his doubts, he had no reason to suspect her.

Joshua nodded slightly. "No. Thank you for saving her. Go back and rest."

Mia sobbed, "What matters most is that Ms. Davis is okay. Joshua, let me take care of Ms. Davis. She's out of danger now, and you... you should go change your clothes."

Joshua's clothes were covered in Ava's blood, large patches of it, already dried. The hospital's disinfectant mixed with the smell of blood on him.

Joshua nodded. He personally took Ava to her room and only left after making sure everything was fine.

Joshua raised his hand and waved. Samuel immediately stepped forward.

"Look into it."

"Yes."

When Ava woke up, she saw a white ceiling. The smell of disinfectant was everywhere. She blinked slightly, propped herself up with her hands, and sat up, leaning against the hospital bed. Her eyes swept calmly over Mia beside her.

Seeing Ava awake, Mia slowly stood up, peeling an apple with a small knife in her hand. She smirked smugly. "Oh, you're awake. I have to say, you're really lucky. Can't even die properly."

Ava looked at her quietly, her cool gaze making Mia's heart skip a beat.

That cold, piercing look had the same pressure as Joshua's.

Mia bit her teeth. "Why are you looking at me like that? I just pulled you a bit. You fell on your own. What does it have to do with me?"

"You're really shameless."

Mia crossed her arms and snorted. "If I didn't do this, how could I stop you from exposing me? Ava, you brought this on yourself. Who else can you blame?"

"You think you can cover up what you did?"

Mia smiled coldly. "Do you still have any evidence? Even if you do, so what? How many people will believe that prescription in your hand is the one I gave Grandpa? Ava, don't be so naive. Between you and me, they'll always choose to believe me."

Ava watched her laugh proudly with cold eyes. She looked away and gave a cold, mocking smile.

"What you did will be exposed someday."

"But I've won now, haven't I? Ava, I'll keep winning against you. You might as well just resign yourself, so you don't lose too badly and make it awkward."

"You're really shameless and disgusting."

"Shameless and disgusting? So what? As long as I can win and marry Joshua, I'll do anything..."

"You bitch." A sharp, angry shout came from the doorway.

Mia's smug face took a hard slap.

Mia was stunned for a moment, her hair falling over her face, feeling only numbness and pain on her left cheek.

When she came to her senses, she glared at the woman in front of her.

"Are you crazy? What gives you the right..."

Isabella grabbed Mia's hair and slapped her twice without hesitation.

"When I got the call, I was wondering how Ava could fall down the stairs for no reason. So it was you! All you do is look for trouble, don't you? You want to hurt people? Say you want a beating, I'll satisfy you. Don't worry, I've got plenty of slaps to go around!"

"...Crazy woman, let go of me... let go!"

Mia was pulled and thrown around by Isabella, angry but unable to fight back, letting out piercing screams.

Isabella grabbed Mia's hair and threw her aside.

Mia fell to the ground in complete disarray, clutching her painful, numb face, absolutely furious.

She got up, wanting to fight Isabella, but was slapped away again.

"You... bitch! Crazy woman, you're all bitches!" Mia roared. "This isn't over!"

Ava picked up the water beside her and took a calm sip, her eyes completely cold.

"Psycho." Isabella was speechless.

"Isabella, stop hitting her. Don't hurt your hand."

Isabella shook her hand lightly - it did hurt a bit. She smiled slightly. "It does hurt a little. I don't usually use this kind of method that hurts me as much as the enemy, but who told her to keep asking for it? Besides, a few slaps can't make up for what you've been through."

"You..." Mia's eyes were vicious, looking like she'd lost it. She grabbed a sharp ornament nearby, staring at Isabella's back, about to raise her hand and smash it down hard.

Just then, the hospital room door opened.

Mia's eyes widened. She instantly stopped what she was doing, quickly stepped back two steps, hit the corner of the table hard with her stomach, and then fell to the ground. Isabella turned around to see Mia falling.

The way she fell made it look exactly like Isabella had pushed her.
