Chapter 79 Ava is in Trouble
Mia's lips trembled. She bit her teeth hard and forced herself to stay composed with a cold snort, "There's nothing wrong with this medicine. What do I have to be afraid of?"
Hearing this, Ava's cold face was full of mockery. "Mia, this medicine might be fine for ordinary heart disease patients, but you know very well whether it would harm Grandpa's body or not."
Mia's face looked terrible. "I..."
Ava pulled out the medicine test result sheet.
Mia's eyes flickered with panic as she dodged looking at it.
"What, you don't even dare to look at it directly?"
Ava's eyes held no warmth. A cold smile slowly curved at the corner of her mouth. "Grandpa's body is weak and can only handle gentle nourishment bit by bit. You're pouring such a large dose into his body - it's like a balloon. It needs air, but it can't handle an overload of air. Once it exceeds the limit, explosion is the only outcome."
"Mia, don't you pride yourself on your excellent medical skills? You're telling me you don't know this basic common sense? I don't believe it. What are you trying to do? Are you trying to kill Grandpa?"
Mia's face instantly turned terrible. She did want Victor, who had always opposed her marrying Joshua, to die sooner.
But she only dared to think it. Increasing the dosage was just to make Victor show clear signs of improvement in a short time, so she could prove her abilities to everyone and make them grateful to her. That way she would be the Thomas family's benefactor, and Joshua would marry her.
She just didn't expect Victor's body to be so weak, falling ill faster than she imagined.
Now that Ava had exposed her, she suddenly realized that what she had done was exactly trying to make Victor die sooner.
All the ugliness was laid bare. Fear and anger took over all her thoughts.
Joshua had always respected Victor the most. If these words reached Joshua's ears, forget about marrying him - she wouldn't even know how she died.
She forced down the fear and rage in her chest. Her clenched hands trembled with force as she glared at Ava through gritted teeth. "What nonsense are you spouting? I didn't do it. Don't you dare slander me."
"Whether I'm talking nonsense or not, you know in your heart. You can't escape this. Find any doctor to look at it, and you won't be able to explain yourself."
"No, Ava, you can't." Mia blocked Ava's way in panic.
"Move aside." Cold fury surged in Ava's eyes.
"Ava, you want to expose me? In your dreams. Everyone knows I've been doing my best to treat Grandpa. Who would believe what you say? Even if you have this report, so what? How do we know you didn't fake it on purpose to slander me? Ava, give up. No one will believe you."
Mia raised her chin high, forcing herself to maintain her momentum as she stared at Ava, trying to intimidate her with these words. Of course, it was all in vain.
These actions looked ridiculous in Ava's eyes.
Ava's originally cold expression darkened further.
"No remorse whatsoever."
"Ava!"
Mia bit her teeth hard and grabbed Ava's arm. Taking a deep breath, as if making an extremely difficult decision, she squeezed out words from between her teeth. "I'm begging you... however much money you want, I can give it to you, but this matter, you must keep it to yourself. I swear I'll never give Grandpa this medicine again... You... you can rest assured, really, I mean what I say. As long as you don't tell anyone... give me this test result..."
Ava forcefully shook off Mia's hand. Her expression remained icy cold, completely unmoved.
If she hadn't discovered this in time and Victor had continued using this medicine, the consequences would have been unthinkable. Even now, Mia still hadn't realized her mistake and was trying to buy her silence with money.
Waves of cold anger rose in Ava's heart. She was unworthy of being a doctor.
How could she be qualified?
"Ava, you can't expose me..."
"Get lost." Ava snapped coldly. She didn't want to waste any more words and headed upstairs.
Seeing that Ava wouldn't respond to either soft or hard approaches, Mia instantly became furious with humiliation. Her eyes were replaced by viciousness.
"Ava, you can't leave..."
She grabbed Ava's arm and yanked her backward hard. Ava's step upward hadn't landed yet. Caught off guard, her body swayed violently, her footing gave way, and under the backward pulling force, she instantly fell backward.
Before Ava could cry out, the back of her head hit hard against the sharp edge of the railing. Almost instantly, she felt a large warm flow running down from the back of her head along her neck.
Ava's eyes trembled. The pain in the back of her head came with dizziness, and a sense of weakness invaded her...
"I... Ava... you!"
Mia was shocked and horrified, frozen in place as she looked at Ava. She looked around in panic.
Looking up, she saw a surveillance camera at the stairway pointing right at them.
Her breathing quickened, her heart pounding wildly. She forced herself to calm down.
No one saw it. Right, as long as she destroyed the surveillance footage, Ava fell by herself. It had nothing to do with her. That's right, she fell by herself.
Mia stared at Ava with venomous eyes and said viciously, "Ava, you brought this on yourself. You can't blame me. If you hadn't come back, Joshua wouldn't have refused to marry me. It's all your fault. You deserve to die."
Mia crouched down to pick up the test result, crumpled it into a ball, and hid it in her bag. Then she hurried to the surveillance room to destroy all the footage.
After doing all this, she rushed out of the Thomas Villa.
Just then, a car pulled up steadily at the entrance.
Mia hid behind the wall in panic and saw Joshua's tall figure getting out of the car.
