Chapter 4: Ava, Where Else Are You Going to Run?
It looks so much like her!
Joshua's icy gaze locked onto that car, his eyes narrowing slightly.
"The tracking shows that person is leaving at high speed."
It was that car. Without any hesitation, Joshua gave the order, "Chase them."
He had a strong feeling that the figure he just saw was Ava.
In the car, Ava called her good friend Isabella Taylor.
"Hello, Ava, what's up?"
"Isabella, I need to go back to Astoria first."
"What? You're going back to Astoria? You just got back. What happened? Is something wrong?" Isabella asked anxiously.
Ava told Isabella what had happened.
Isabella was shocked after hearing it. "The kids are so talented! Well done, Finn and Cleo. I support you guys."
Ava was speechless!
"Ava, when are you planning to leave?"
"As soon as possible, today if I can. I absolutely cannot let him see the kids." She felt uneasy, convinced that Joshua had seen her and would chase after them any moment.
"But Ava, you just got back. Mr. Miller went to such great lengths to bring you here. If you leave now, won't he be angry enough to come to Astoria and drag you back?"
"Maybe, but I'm not leaving for good. I'll take the kids to Ryan Martin's place to lay low, then come back."
After all, she had decided to develop her career back home and had promised Joseph to join the hospital. She wouldn't leave easily.
She'd wait for things to blow over, then bring the two kids back.
"Okay, be careful with the two kids." Isabella quickly gave Ava a few words of advice over the phone.
After hanging up, Ava handed her phone to Finn in the back seat. "Finn, help mommy book plane tickets. We need to stay at Ryan's for a few days."
"Back to Astoria?" Finn kept his head down, working on the computer, even busier than Ava who was driving. He had been careless for a moment and let them track their location, but fortunately he noticed it now and immediately intercepted it and created interference.
"Yes." Ava tried to appear relaxed so the kids wouldn't get nervous with her. "Ryan has been saying he misses you guys."
"We can go back to Mr. Martin's! Cleo is so happy." Then Cleo bit her finger and looked at Ava with confusion. "But mommy, are you really scared of daddy? Why are you hiding from him?"
Ava paused, a shadow passing through her eyes. "I'll tell you when Cleo is older, okay?"
Ava didn't want Finn and Cleo to know that they were children Joshua didn't want.
Cleo knew Ava would be sad when Joshua was mentioned, so she smacked her lips and obediently didn't ask more. "Okay then."
Ava kept checking the rearview mirror, afraid someone would catch up from behind.
"Mommy, the earliest flight is at 7:30 tomorrow morning."
Ava nodded. "Okay, that one then."
It was 7 PM now, with over ten hours to go. Ava rushed home like her pants were on fire, hurriedly packed a few clothes, and the next day, afraid of complications, didn't dare delay even a minute.
At the airport, Ava put masks on both kids and herself, then took them through security. Watching the long line finally reach their turn, Ava breathed a sigh of relief.
She knew hiding like this wasn't a solution, but she didn't yet have the courage to face Joshua with the two kids.
Given Joshua's personality, after she defied him back then and left the country without a word, he definitely wouldn't let her go.
And a big family like the Thomas family would never allow their descendants to be left outside.
These two children were her life. She couldn't lose them.
It didn't matter what happened to her, but she wouldn't allow anyone to hurt these two kids.
Ava looked down at Finn and Cleo holding hands, and her heart was firm. She never regretted her decision back then.
"Mommy, after we go to Mr. Martin's, can Cleo come back?"
Cleo was a bit reluctant to leave.
Ava understood Cleo's feelings and smiled gently. "Do you like it here?"
"Yes, Cleo has friends here, there's Ms. Taylor, and also..." Daddy! Cleo bit her finger and didn't continue.
Ava's eyes dimmed. Although the child didn't say it, Ava knew that both kids longed for a father. No child didn't want both mom and dad by their side.
Ava crouched down and hugged Cleo and Finn. She couldn't give them a father's love, but she would love them twice as much.
Noticing Ava's low mood, Cleo hugged Ava tightly. "Mommy, I only need mommy."
"I only need mommy too." Finn also hugged Ava, wanting to comfort her more.
Ava smiled gently. How lucky she was to have these two children!
"Don't worry, I'll definitely bring you back in a few days."
However, at that moment, at the airport entrance, a row of black luxury cars stopped steadily. From the leading Rolls-Royce, a tall male figure emerged.
The man's handsome face was tense, his eyes gloomy, filled with bone-chilling coldness.
He carried an aura of coldness that swept through the entire airport hall. The black-suited bodyguards behind him immediately spread out, conducting a carpet search.
This time, he absolutely wouldn't let that woman escape again!
"Finn, Cleo, we're about to board!"
"I'll get to see Mr. Martin soon."
After checking their tickets, Finn and Cleo held hands and skipped ahead.
Ava watched the two children with a smile. These two always got excited about flying. She took back her documents, but the next second, a large hand grabbed her hand.
Then a cold, deep voice, familiar, sounded in her ear.
"Ava, where else are you going to run?"
