Chapter 32 The Prodigy of the Medical World
She mentioned it casually, leisurely flipping through the documents in front of her, seemingly indifferent.
The speaker seemed careless, but the listener was definitely paying attention.
"Mia, how can we compare with Dr. Davis? After all, she must have pulled a lot of strings to get into the hospital. It's normal for her to be close with Mr. Miller, right? Dr. Davis?" Lyra and Mia sang in harmony, their implications couldn't be more obvious.
Ava's fingers paused while turning the pages. She slowly lifted her head, resting her elbows on the table with her ten slender fingers interlaced under her chin. She let out a cold laugh.
"So Dr. Cole is saying that Mr. Miller took bribes from me?" Ava paused. "Everyone heard that, right? Make sure to pass Dr. Wilson and Dr. Cole's words to Mr. Miller accurately."
"You!" Lyra slammed the table and stood up, her expression immediately cracking, unable to hide her panic. "When did I say Mr. Miller took bribes? Ava, you're slandering me!"
"We all heard it." Thora raised her hand as witness.
"You two are in this together!"
"What?" Ava still wore a smile, calm and unhurried. "Then ask the others, check the surveillance."
Before Lyra could finish, Mia frowned and tugged at Lyra, still smiling. "Everyone, don't mind her. I apologize to Dr. Davis on Dr. Cole's behalf. It's just that Dr. Davis getting into the hospital with only a high school diploma is quite unusual. Dr. Cole didn't mean anything else. Dr. Davis, I'm sorry, she didn't mean to question Mr. Miller."
Not questioning Joseph, but questioning her.
Look at that, look at that. Now that's someone who knows how to talk. A few words to clear herself of offending someone powerful, while still managing to smear Ava.
And all while looking weak, innocent, apologetic, and righteous.
When it comes to acting, Mia definitely takes first place.
"Exactly, she's someone with bad character. At such a young age already seducing men, yet acting all high and mighty..."
At that moment, Joseph and Gilbert at the conference room entrance, having heard the conversation, couldn't help but frown.
"Stop arguing, you guys over there, Mr. Miller is here." Someone shouted.
Lyra glared hard at Ava, threatening in a low voice, "Ava, we're not done."
Joseph slammed down the documents in his hand, his face displeased as he looked toward Mia's direction.
For a long while, Joseph didn't speak. Everyone exchanged glances, the silence in the air was unsettling.
Joseph put on his glasses, looked down and flipped through the documents in front of him, his expression still grim.
"Some doctors in our hospital still have time to put down their colleagues during work hours. Does everyone have nothing to do?" Joseph said sternly.
"See that, Ava? Mr. Miller is looking at you, talking about you." Lyra was smug, typical of someone who thinks "as long as I don't think he's talking about me, he must be talking about someone else."
Ava couldn't be bothered with her.
Joseph lectured them a bit, but many people's attention was still focused on Gilbert beside Joseph.
The man's extraordinarily handsome face, his cool demeanor, his gentle and refined temperament naturally attracted the attention of many young female doctors.
"Mr. Miller, who is this?"
"I almost forgot to introduce him to you all." Joseph returned to the serious topic. "This is Gilbert..."
Before Joseph could finish, a commotion suddenly erupted below.
Someone exclaimed, "Are you the brain surgery expert, Gilbert, who has an undefeated record in brain surgery?"
Gilbert's cool thin lips curved into a slight arc as he nodded slightly, his voice gentle. "I am."
Another round of exclamations. "It really is you! You're absolutely my idol. I've been dreaming of learning from you."
"Me too, me too."
Many doctors stood up excitedly.
Several neurosurgery directors immediately consulted Gilbert on a few questions. Gilbert's voice was calm as he discussed the tricky questions at length, answering fluently.
Several neurosurgery directors couldn't help but applaud. "Truly worthy of being the medical field's prodigy. We've learned a lot."
"Yes, these questions have been troubling me for a long time. I didn't expect Dr. Harvey to solve them in just a few words. I need to hurry back and continue my research following your line of thinking."
Gilbert humbly nodded slightly, his usually gentle face carrying a faint smile. "You're too kind, seniors."
"Mia, the new doctor is so handsome!" Lyra looked at Gilbert's face, extremely excited. The next moment, she saw Gilbert's gaze turn in their direction.
Lyra's heart trembled hard. Gilbert was already walking over gracefully.
Lyra excitedly tugged at Mia's clothes. "Mia, look! I just noticed Dr. Harvey has been looking at you. Now Dr. Harvey is walking toward you. Mia, do you know Dr. Harvey?"
Mia blinked, looked up and saw Gilbert walking over calmly. That direction was right toward her. She nervously straightened up, bit her lip and shook her head. "This is my first time seeing Dr. Harvey too."
"Mia, did Dr. Harvey fall for you at first sight? Is he coming to ask for your contact information? He's coming, he's coming."
Hearing this, Mia smiled shyly, immediately putting on a reserved look, but her heart was blooming with joy. If he really fell for her at first sight, it would definitely be something worth bragging about. Mia pretended to be embarrassed and scolded Lyra. "Lyra, don't talk nonsense."
"I'm not. Mia, you're beautiful and skilled. What man wouldn't fall for you at first sight?" Lyra praised Mia as always.
Although she knew Lyra was trying to please her, Mia still enjoyed it.
