Chapter 122 The Debt Owed Should Be Repaid
Joshua furrowed his brow deeply, his eyes filled with the calm before a raging storm. "Get Hayden over here."
Hayden hadn't left the hospital. He'd been staying with Isabella, looking after Finn together. He arrived quickly.
"Joshua." Hayden's voice was low, his usually carefree face now completely serious.
"Stay with her. Don't let anything happen to her."
"Joshua... where are you going?"
"I have something to take care of."
Joshua coldly dropped that line and left.
Hayden could feel that Joshua's anger right now was enough to burn everything to the ground.
The scarred man was dead, and a bald man had been captured.
Joshua ordered that he not be allowed to die.
The bald man was hung from a pillar, not an inch of good flesh left on his body, blood pooling on the floor beneath him.
Joshua walked coldly to the sofa and sat down, lifting his eyes. His gaze, devoid of any warmth, swept over the man. "Who put you up to this?"
The bald man clenched his teeth tightly. "No one put me up to it. Just... been short on cash lately, wanted to... get some money."
Joshua raised his hand slightly.
Samuel, standing beside the bald man, raised his whip and brought it down hard on the man's body.
Immediately, the bald man let out a piercing scream.
After a full ten minutes of whipping, the bald man was barely breathing. Someone threw a bucket of water on him to wake him up.
Joshua still sat there expressionless, a cigarette between his fingers. "Ready to talk yet?"
The bald man still clenched his teeth, looking like he'd rather die than surrender.
Joshua sneered coldly, pressing the burning cigarette butt into the man's mangled flesh.
The bald man groaned in pain. "Kill me, kill me, kill me."
Joshua stood up coldly and waved his hand.
A woman and a seven or eight-year-old child were immediately brought in from outside.
The bald man's expression instantly changed from defiance to terror. He struggled desperately, the chains clanging loudly.
"You... what are you going to do? Let go of my wife and child, let go!"
Joshua's lips curved into an inhuman cold smile. Standing over the woman, just as the bald man finished speaking, he grabbed the ashtray from the table and suddenly hurled it at the woman.
The ashtray hit her head, and blood immediately gushed out.
Samuel kicked the woman in the back of her knees.
She dropped to her knees, trembling all over in pain, crying out continuously, "...Stop hitting me, Tate, say it, say it, are you going to just watch me die?"
This time Tate's scream was stronger than any before. He struggled against the chains with all his might, but it was useless.
The woman and child's crying, Tate's roaring filled the entire room.
Joshua showed no emotion whatsoever.
"Let go of my wife, please, please let her go, she doesn't know anything, she didn't do anything wrong, come at me, come at me."
"What did my wife and child do wrong?" Joshua asked coldly.
"My wife and child were harmed by you people. Why should I let your woman and child off easy?"
"I know I was wrong, I really was wrong. Kill me, I'll pay with my life, let them go, they're innocent, please let them go."
"Let them go? Who's going to pay for what my wife and child suffered?" The coldness around Joshua intensified.
"I will, I will, I'll talk, I'll talk, I'll tell you everything. A woman contacted us, someone from the Wilson family. We'd done jobs for her before. Her phone number is in my phone."
Joshua's brow twitched hard. Clearly he already had an answer in mind. He glanced coldly at Tate. "Kill him. Let the woman and child go."
"I've told you everything, I've told you everything." Tate shouted. "Why do you still have to kill me?"
"Because you deserve to die."
Joshua coldly dropped that line and left.
In the car, Joshua rested his elbow against the window, his hand supporting his head, and said coldly, "To the Wilson Villa."
Samuel had just started the car when Joshua's phone rang.
Seeing the caller ID, Joshua immediately answered.
"Joshua." Ava's voice was frighteningly soft, as if all her strength had been drained.
"I'm here." Joshua's heart ached sharply hearing Ava's weak voice.
"I want to go to the Wilson Villa."
Joshua frowned deeply. "Okay, I'll come get you."
The Wilson Villa.
Katya and Mia lay lazily in rocking chairs, several servants massaging them, cheerful music playing. The two women raised their glasses in celebration.
"Congratulations, Mia. One of Ava's children is about to die. Xavier and Ursa must hate Ava to death for hiding it back then, and you just happened to save the other child. You've definitely won this time."
"Mom, I just used a little trick. It's just a shame the other child didn't die. If they'd both died, that would have been perfect." Mia elegantly sipped her wine, sneering smugly.
Katya's face wore a sinister smile. "No rush, take it slow. This will definitely devastate Ava. What does she have left to fight you with? Once you marry into the Thomas family, won't that child be yours to raise? You just need to use a little trick to make him suffer. Torturing him slowly will be more fun."
"Mom, you're right."
Mia smiled sweetly. She could already imagine her happy life after marrying into the Thomas family.
The two women clinked glasses and laughed smugly.
"Mrs. Katya Wilson, Ms. Mia Wilson, Mr. Thomas is here." A servant came to report.
Mia was delighted. "Joshua came to see me. He's coming to see me now because..."
"It must be because you saved Finn. Joshua came specially to thank you." Katya looked at Mia and smiled.
At this thought, Mia immediately smiled smugly. "Mom, I'll go down right away. Do I look okay? Do I look good?"
"Good, good, you look the best."
Katya looked at Mia fondly.
Mia reapplied her lipstick and quickly went downstairs. The moment she saw Joshua, she couldn't hide her happiness. "Joshua..."
Mia's gaze shifted left, and she saw the woman standing beside Joshua.
Ava!
Ava's daughter was about to die—how did she have time to come here?
Mia immediately wiped the smile from her face, instantly replacing it with a worried expression.
Ava looked at Mia with icy eyes.
If it hadn't been for Mia back then, the kidnapper wouldn't have suddenly gone crazy and thrown Finn and Cleo down.
And Cleo wouldn't have been killed.
Ava clenched her fists tightly. Overwhelming anger seemed ready to drown all her reason. She desperately forced herself to suppress her rage.
Mia looked at Ava's usually delicate face, now full of exhaustion, and felt extremely smug.
Now she just had to wait for Cleo to die, and her return to the Thomas family would be just around the corner.
Mia sighed softly, looking at Ava with a worried expression. "Ms. Davis, my condolences!"
Ava's gaze turned cold. "What did you say?"
"About Cleo... I..." Before Mia could finish, her words were drowned out by a scream.
She just felt numbness on her face. When the slap landed, she was completely stunned.
Ava stood there quietly, looking down at Mia coldly. There wasn't a trace of human warmth in her eyes—cold to the extreme.
Mia clutched her face tightly. "You... why did you hit me?"
Ava grabbed Mia by the collar. "Is my daughter dead? Let me tell you, she's not dead, and she won't die. You can keep those condolences for yourself."
Mia froze, her eyes rolling frantically in panic.
She'd never seen Ava like this—those eyes full of murderous intent, as if she had a knife in her hand, she would stab it into her throat without hesitation.
But even that wouldn't be enough to resolve the hatred in her heart.
Ava closed her eyes tightly, grinding her teeth. "Back then, I had already calmed the kidnapper down. Why did you try to grab Finn? Why did you provoke the kidnapper? Tell me, why?"
