38. Det. Hale
Lydia sat there, in the front passenger seat of Lucy's car as they drove, so quiet and pensive. School time had already ended. But they weren't driving home now. No. There was a much more intriguing destination they were heading to. Det. Hale's precinct.
To say that she was nervous would've been an understatement. Not to mention that she'd already spent half of her day running away from his son. Or trying to avoid him altogether. He'd tried to approach her again. Several times. Thankfully, Lucy had remained stuck to her side. Successfully deterring any attempts from his part. It still made her wince. Whenever she dared reminisce it. The sight of his despondent expression upon watching her walk away from him. That look of longing glinting in his eyes whenever she caught him staring at her during her performance in class. It hurt. So damn much. She just wanted to be free of this. Of all of it.
"Does he have a big wiener?"
She blinked. Several times. Her expression contorting with utter shock and embarrassment as she turned her head to throw her friend an incredulous look that said, "what the fuck, Lucy!?!".
Lucy let out a stupid laugh upon witnessing that look on her friend's face. "What? You never told me!" She laughed again.
Lydia lightly shook her head with disapproval, her cheeks though still burning as the image of Julian's thick and veiny member popped at the forefront of her mind.
"I'll take that as a yes," she heard Lucy comment from right next to her, a wicked giggle escaping her.
"He's got a piercing in his tongue. And another one in his uhm..." she quickly blurted out before that small bout of courage could evade her, clearing out her throat into a suggestive manner.
It made Lucy let out a loud and incredulous gasp in reply.
"Shii...Motherfucker!" Her eyes widening like two saucers.
An amused giggle quickly escaped past Lydia's lips at the sound of that.
"I mean, I could tell that he has big dick energy and all that bad boy vibe going on for him but damn, that is just plain sick! The kind of shit you only see in porn movies! Damn!"
Lydia giggled again, amused by her friend's reaction.
"By the way, you should've seen Gemma's face when she saw him in the flesh last night," Lucy told her with a fleeting glance, a stifled laugh escaping her as she struggled to contain her amusement.
"She went nuts, she screamed so loud my mom thought that she was having a fucking stroke or something!" That made Lydia laugh out loud.
"She even scared Julian! He was staring at her like what the fuck, man!" Both girls burst into a fit of laughter after that, cackling like a pair of seagulls. They screeched and wheezed, small tears prickling at the corners of their eyes.
"Oh my god! Poor Gemma! We did her so dirty!" Lydia wiped at those small tears, her voice shaky as she fought to contain herself and stop laughing. She couldn't.
"We sure did!" Both girls burst into another fit of crazy laughter, cackling until their abdominal muscles hurt.
Small laughs and stifled giggles were still escaping them here and there even as they'd finally arrived at the precinct.
"Oh my god, I think I'm gonna pee myself," Lydia complained with a small whine, feeling that uncomfortable press of her bladder after an hour of continuous driving. It didn't help. The fact that they'd spent it mostly laughing their asses off. She could feel her muscles aching even now.
"Just hold it in, at least until we finish dealing with this shit," Lucy replied with a shrug, pulling down her sun visor to have a look into the small mirror.
Lydia's features contorted to form an unsatisfied pout, silently watching as Lucy proceeded to apply a fresh coat of mascara and a little bit of gloss. Making herself sure that she looked presentable enough. She'd also chosen to wear something much more provocative for today. A pair of tiny short jeans and a tight shirt that left almost nothing to the imagination, to go with that pair of high platform heels donning her feet. She couldn't understand why though. What was she planning to do with that?
She paused to have a look at herself just as they'd gotten out of the car, trailing her gaze over her nice simple dress and ballet flats. She expressed a small and indifferent shrug, proceeding to follow her as they walked to the entrance of the large building.
Lucy rushed inside with an air of confidence, her steps determined as she made her way straight to the front desk where a young female police officer was busy typing away at a computer.
The young officer timidly raised her gaze to have a look at Lucy as soon as she'd stopped there, giving her a confused look.
"Can I help you?"
"We're here to see Det. Derek Hale," Lucy swiftly answered, leaning over her desk. A hint of impatience tangible in her tone.
The young woman's brows drew together.
"What do you want with det. Hale?"
Lucy rolled her eyes in annoyance, crossing her arms over her chest.
"I'm his baby momma,"
Lydia's eyes widened from where she stood close to her friend's side, her shocked expression mirroring the young officer's.
"E-excuse me?"
But Lucy didn't mind her much though, throwing her a displeased look before she turned and walked further into the large room that contained several more desks. Purposely drawing as much attention as she could.
"Daddy? Where are you honey?" She started to shout with an airy and whiny tone, whirling around in her spot. Not giving a single flying fuck about all those police officers who were now staring at her with stunned looks on their faces.
Lydia could only wince from the second-hand embarrassment, her cheeks heating up so profusely at the unwanted attention. Holy skies! What the hell was she doing?!?
"Miss-" another officer tried to approach and stop her, but she was not having it. And with a forceful yank she ripped herself free from his hold, starting to shout even louder.
"Baby, I've come here to visit you at your work sweetie! Where are you? We need to talk!"
"Honey! Derek! Where are you, sweetie? Derek Hale! I'm looking for Derek Hale! Is he in here? We need to talk about our baby, honey! I..."
She abruptly stopped. Lydia's throat bobbed as soon as she noticed that hulking figure standing at the foot of a flight of metal-made stairs. A menacing frown marring his features.
"There you are!" Lucy screamed, taking no regard of that dangerous look on his face. Her voice so squeaky and joyful as she dashed straight towards him. Making Lydia's jaw fall to the floor as she threw herself at him, her slender arms wrapping around his corded neck.
"Oh, daddy, I've missed you so much!"
He didn't return the embrace, visible confusion pulling at his face as he looked down at her.
"Miss, I think you have me mistaken for someone else. I don't know you or anything about-" his grungy voice abruptly cut off as her hands trailed over his broad back, going lower and lower.
"Hey!" He roughly shouted, his blue eyes suddenly widening with alarm. Right before he caught her arms and pulled her away from his body in one swift move, holding her immobile.
"I will need you to keep your hands to yourself, otherwise we're going to have a really big problem, young lady!" He warned, his nostrils flaring with anger.
"Really? How big?" Lucy tilted her head with a playful giggle.
Lydia wanted to hide. Run away and hide into a broom closet or something.
"Do you want to spend your night in jail?" He mildly shook her into a back and forth motion. It only made her giggle again.
"That depends. Will you be there?" She batted her eyelashes at him, licking her lips into a suggestive manner.
"I could offer you a show,"
Holy shit! What the hell was wrong with her? Was she actually trying to get them incarcerated?!? She didn't want to spend a night in jail!! What was her mom going to think? She started to panic as she watched Julian's dad roughly hold onto her friend, giving her a mild shove as he barked out,
"Vasquez, please escort these two young ladies outside-"
"Wait wait wait!" Lucy rushed to stop him, clutching onto his navy blue shirt as she hastily spewed out,
"We're here to talk about your son, Julian. And Reenie Ortega."
**
He pushed the door to his private office open into a silent invitation. That aggravated look on his face still present. The girls meekly rushed inside, keeping their heads down. He shut the door before walking to his desk, facing the girls as they sat in the two plushy chairs intended for visitors.
He leaned his butt against the edge of his desk, arms crossing over his broad chest. Adopting a position of power. Authority.
Lydia shrunk in a little, cheeks warm as she timidly looked up at the visibly dangerous male. Julian did look so much like him indeed. Except that he didn't appear so scary like this man did. And he wasn't this buff either. Those dark jeans donning his powerful thighs appeared to be straining against him and that navy dress shirt hugged his beefy arms and chest so tightly, making it seem like they were about to burst any moment now. And that silvery badge that hung attached to his belt along with that leathery harness strapped to his torso that held those two guns stuck at his sides wasn't making it any easier for her. If anything, it only made her feel even more restless.
"Talk," he suddenly barked out with that grungy voice of his. She mildly startled, almost pissing herself right then and there.
Lucy then turned to stretch her arms in Lydia's direction, a knowing smirk tugging at her lips.
"Det. Derek Hale, meet your future daughter-in-law,"
His dark brows shot up to his hairline.
The girl could only gasp out loud.
"It was not a proposal!" She rushed to turn and point an accusatory finger at Lucy.
"Yes it was," The insufferable girl rebuked, that impish and slightly amused smirk still plastered all over her features.
"No, it wasn't! He was just-" Lydia let out an annoyed huff upon noticing that slight wiggle of Lucy's eyebrows, heat creeping up her neck and cheeks as she suddenly remembered that they weren't alone in the room.
"Wait, what?"
"You actually do know my son?" Det. Hale suddenly butted in, curiously looking between the two.
"Oh, she does alright. She can even give you a very detailed description of his-" Lydia let out a loud and incredulous gasp upon hearing those brazen words, giving Lucy a quick shove before she could even dare finish that sentence. She only let out a teasing and amused laugh in reply.
But det. Hale did not look impressed at all. If anything, he looked thoroughly vexed already.
So Lucy decided to just cut to the chase, right then and there.
"Look, your precious son has the hots for my friend here,"
He raised a brow. That displeased and impatient frown however still remaining attached to his face.
"I know, nothing weird so far," Lucy rushed to add with a roll of her eyes.
"Except for the fact that he kinda proposed after fucking her only once-"
"It was not a proposal!" Lydia rushed to intervene with a screechy tone. God! Why did she keep insisting with that?
"Yes it was," Lucy threw right back at her with a pointed glance. The girl grunted in reply, stomping her foot against the floor before angrily crossing her arms over her chest.
"Anyway, what I'm trying to say is that I feel a little bit concerned. For her safety, of course," At that, Julian's father suddenly looked so entirely offended, even leaning towards anger as he roughly growled back at her,
"Julian would never-"
"I know who his mom is, okay?" Lucy quickly pushed back with every single bit of that burning determination inside of her, her own voice raising a little.
Lydia threw her a bewildered look.
"And we heard some shady talk last night, a conversation between your son and my-" she abruptly stopped upon realizing exactly what she was about to say, choosing her next words carefully instead.
"Your son and a woman,"
"What kind of conversation? What were they saying?" Det. Hale's gaze narrowed.
"They were talking about moving something. And some raging bitch that wanted something that he had. Or cared about, whatever," She explained with a mild shake of her head, blowing out a breath.
"I know that they were talking about his mom, dude. It had to be," she rushed to point out. But Mr. Hale still didn't look convinced. Silently contemplating as his gaze flitted over her.
"Which can only mean that he's working for her. Or against her, like, whatever," she blew out another breath. Tracing a nervous hand through her hair.
"And I don't want this type of shit around my friend, get it? I want him as far as possible away from her, okay? Preferably in a cell or something close to that," she lightly shook her head again and blew out a tired sigh, throwing Lydia a glance.
The girl remained silent though, considerably impressed by her friend's anxious rant. She really cared about her that much?
"I'll look into it. I promise," det. Hale vowed with a serious tone, drawing Lucy's attention back to him.
"Thank you," she replied with a brief nod, about to grab Lydia's hand and get the hell out of there when she suddenly realized,
"Wait. You're not just saying that, are you?"
Det. Hale's brow rose at the sound of that.
"I mean, you're not saying that just to get us off your ass, right?" She rushed to say, a suspicious note entering her tone.
Derek bristled upon hearing that. Pointedly leaning closer as he growled in her face,
"Girl,"
"Lucy. My name is Lucy," she immediately corrected him, leaning closer as well. She wasn't afraid of him. And she intended to show him just that.
"Look, *Lucy*," he spat, putting an emphasis on her name,
"I don't know what it is that you heard exactly or where you've gotten all this information from but I can tell you one certain thing; my son isn't involved in any illegal activities,"
She scowled, defiantly peering right back into his intense blue eyes.
"I would know. I am the one who raised him after all,"
"And if he ever would've even thought about doing so he'd be wearing a nice set of bracelets to go with his purple eyes, get it?" He viciously spewed with a tilt of his head, earning Lydia's small wince.
"I am the one who threw his mother in jail after all, wasn't I?"
